1- Intergalactic travel is impossible, as it will take too much abuse and time to gain such speeds, let alone have the right propellant. Can you say "100 Gs for 30 years"? Goood

2- M31 can rarely be seen with the naked eye, some light isolating and telescopic assistance is required most of the time. To see it with the naked eye... You must live in a very clean and unlit place...

3- watch?v=LVLRDBFyrTk , then ask yourself "Are we the only ones there?" and laugh at yourself for doubting.

And because we'll never make contact with other so called civilizations our star is very significant. It's the only star we know of that has a life supporting planet orbiting it. @libraryquiet Never say impossible. It is possible they could have a similar structure, like humanoid structures, or bipedal structures. Hotter planets would make use of bipedal structures as it allows creatures to not overheat. Four legged animals would probably be common as well, tail or not. Four legs offer stability without wasted energy with a third pair. So, if they do evolve to bipeds, they will most likely be humanoid in form. Mammals, that is.

if it would be possible to move near or with lightspeed you still need about 2 million years to travel there (its about 2.2 mio. lightyears). there must be another way.. send me a postcard when you found it (maybe you can use gravitational waves to send me a postcard?;)

time and space are changing if an object is moving. so if you are moving that fast (lightspeed for example) you are time traveling withoth even knowing it. it would be like a journey with no return :)
