Whenever I read the Conan books, the impression I always got of him was that he was, in essence, the most primal aspects of human nature summed up in one person.

All of our inherent impulses coupled with the physical strength to over come anything.

The embodiment of sex and violence.

I haven't scene this film yet, but if they get that interpretation of the character right, I'll be willing to forgive any shortcomings it may have.

As for seeing the movie, I was planning to see it yesterday but then I discovered that it was only available in 3D. The last time I saw a 3D film, I literally felt sick afterwards

i saw it was a huge fan i the 80s. if ur looking for a fun movie with gore and tits this movie is solid 8.5/10 if ur looking for an epic movie with rivetting story telling its a 7/10 worth watching in the theatre

To everyone whining and moaning about how bad they said the movie is, I'm going to see it in the future and I'm going in on the words of other critics who said that the movie is fun, has good action and great fight scenes. Call me whatever you like but I've seen the original Conan several times and while it is great in certain areas (music, a different storyline than 2011 Conan and unique cast) Arnold just didn't seem like barbarian material to me.

I Grew up a big Conan fan ,of the novels and comic books ,,,, Arnold was a great Conan ,but if you read the original Howard novels , Jason looks more like what Conan would have looked like........... the Movie wasnt that bad ,it wasnt great,but over all not to bad , it was entertaining ......................

I'm guessing the four savages that Conan killed belonged to the Pictland tribes of western Hyboria. The Pictland wilderness is just as brutal as Cimmeria. According to the Graphic novels, the Pictland tribes were insanely brutal. Those savages don't provide for anyone who can't defend themselves. Most of the tribe consist of hunters and trackers. They have no agriculture or animal husbandry so their dinners are brought in through their hunting skill alone. These guy are gifted killers.
