  • ooooooooooooo ooooooooooo trufullara mou s agapw!!!!!!!!!!

  • What is it with jamaicans and zionism and babylon (which is just Iraq). Just curious???

  • @jneil2007 it has to do with the rastafari movement. from wikipedia: "In the Rastafari movement, "Zion" stands for a utopian place of unity, peace and freedom, as opposed to "Babylon", the oppressing and exploiting system of the western world and a place of evil."

  • Dude, they are just singing Psalm 137. The Babylonians attacked Israel and took the Israelites into captivity (Babylonian Exile), therefore producing a Psalm in which they express their intense longing for their country and their God (Zion the Mountain of God) when they arrived by the "rivers of Babylon". A votre sante!

  • I miss my Zion

  • best version,God bless

  • God is great!

  • @SunnyLovetts bullshit

  • Tell us about the art, Podrick. It's beautiful.

  • Brilliant,keep it going,snappy music,thanks.

  • Just for Know!!! But this song played on the movie "África dos meus sonhos" or "I dreamed of Africa" with Kim Basinger and was the favorite song of Emanuele.

  • sublime's cover of this song is phenomenal.

  • I wonder why they left out the end of Psalm 137?

8 Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction, happy is the one who repays you according to what you have done to us.

9 Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks

That's the best part! Gotta love that blood thirsty bastard, the God of Mercy

  • @disrxt Psalms wasnt written by God its more like a compile of prays to God. so whoever was praying was the brutal bastard.

  • @disrxt I would not call it “blood thirsty bastard”, simply is just an amazing prophecy. Babylon is Iraq, and whoever wrote this psalm (137) did not realized that more than 2000 years from his or their time the Marines and 101 airborne Division (our arm forces) were going to kick Babylon’s ass (payback). Cheers!

  • @Raven719 It is not prophecy it's a news report. The Kingdom of Judah was taken into captivity by the Babylonians )587 BCE). This is about their conquerors forcing them to sing a song and a wish to kill their captors children. WTF does weeping by the Euphrates and forced to sing hymns have to do with our "arm (sic) forces"? But we sure did kill a lot of innocent children. Your God kills innocents 2500 years after the fact in the name of a defunct political entity? God of Mercy my ass.

  • @disrxt You must have a generous ass! hahaha

  • i like boney m verse :) bt i like this too :) very nice :)

  • dont worry cuz he will sing it in heaven with bob marley...2 ehites

  • My dear husband Winston Grennan was drummer on this, and he wrote the bassline too, after the song almost ended up in the circular bin. Brent Dowe confirmed this before his passing. Two great gentlemen, along with all the others who made such wonderful music...

  • i luv everyone! lol

  • Always loved this song, since I was a kid. Well, most of the incarnations of it at least. This one is always a favorite tho!

  • BLACKWATER SECURTIY LOOKS LIKE THE RIVERS OF BABYLON- TIME FOR THE BUSH BLOODLINE TO REPENT

  • The ultimate. Thanks very much.

  • Personally, i like this version better than the Boney M version. Anyone agree?

  • @95DANGER - Sorry, but I still prefer Boney M's version. I guess maybe it's because it's the one I'm used to.

  • Great version of the song, always stays with you

  • Massa

  • Psalm 137.

  • @GodReignsInMe

At least the first line is.

  • @BenjaminWirtz I guess so.

Psalm 137:1 -- By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion.

  • @BenjaminWirtz it's the first four verses of Psalm 137 and verse 14 of Psalm 19.

  • Quite different than later interpretations..

  • Where can I get this pic please tell me? thanks

  • Love the pic and love the song. thank you.

  • @191121001 & @dcarr84... please just stop posting, and go have an internet battle somewhere else lol.

  • They're referring to the comments that people typed in response to the song, numb nuts.

  • Seriously people, relax.

  • it's kind of hilarious that such a beautiful and amazing song with wonderful harmony has such hateful comments.

  • @successincircuit your stupid i hate you! ! ! ! ! !

  • lol ironic. thank you!

  • Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year from south Florida where the men are strong, the women are beautiful and the children are above average. Peace out.

  • @dcarr84 im weak and my wife is ugly , my children are below average ! ! ! quite frankly theyre fucking retards! ! ! SOUTH FLORIDA SUCKS AZZ! ! ! ! !

  • You aint from around here, are you boy?

  • well most of that isnt true what i said, but the one thing that is true is SOUTH FLORIDA SUCKS AZZ ! ! ! sorry if you like living in surburbia! ! !

  • That's alright . Don't worry about it.

  • Great song. Boney M's version is a little more upbeat.

  • WHEN IT REMEMBERS ZZZIIIOOONNN....

godlike song..... just perfect to smoke a bomb ass weed and chilll perfect!

  • the sound quality is spectacular.

  • actually... the lyrics are based on the Biblical hymn Psalm 137, which expressed the yearnings of the Jewish people in exile following the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem in 586 BC. The Rivers in question are the Euphrates river, its tributaries, and the Chebar river. The lyrics contained words from Psalm 19:14

Oh, and David may have been a very great king indeed, he was not perfect. He stole the wife of a friend (a soldier in him army) by ordering the soldier to charge the enemy lines first.

  • If you don't mind, I take pride in my knowledge, and thank you, I do have a life, and I do have a woman, and no, I'm not going to have sex until I'm married (I know I think like an old guy, so shut up).

What I said was the truth, and it was in response to yourmotherthewhore's (wow what a name) comment. If you don't like it, don't read it, it is not some childish "pussy, shit, fucking this, fucking that" comment, so you shouldn't act childish in response.

  • You've continuousely insulted me, yet I am not angered. You are merely making a fool of yourself by being so agrivated.

  • To answer your questions first:

True, you can't tell whether or not you like it without reading it first, my mistake, however, this is the comment area, I am merely responding to a comment, if you don't like it, give it a thumbs down instead of calling me a sexless bastard.

Profanity isn't the part that was childish, if you want to act smart, then talk smart, swaring and insulting isn't talking smart.

And no, not all angry people are stupid, but you are stupid if you make a scene.

  • Also, if you want to express your anger, express it intelegently, outwit me, make me speechless, instead of throwing insults at me. Have you seen me swaring at you ONCE in all my responses? We are all civilized people, so don't act like barbarians, if you want to insult me then use irony or sarcasm instead of sounding like a frustrated idiot by using unpleasant words.

Look we could go on an on like this forever. It's just a comment, a statement of facts, get over it already.

  • what about King George Bush.

  • Comment removed

  • You are the idiot by sending me your asshole comment to me in the first place you jerk off. By these messages you have posted, I see that you have proved that already though.

  • come out of the fog you clown

  • So its not Bob Marley? Did he do a cover of this song?

  • no , he didn't

  • does it sound like bob marley you dumbass

  • I love this song. It's not Bob Marley, it's The Melodians. Psalm 137.

  • I know this song from an old album I bought at the flea market decades ago. The Harder they come from the movie of the same name. Great album but I woud like to see the movie.

  • The movie "The Harder They Come" was a movie in which Jimmy Cliff appeared as a guy who was ripped off by the big record promoters in Jamaica. It's a FANTASTIC movie. The sound track is SUPERB.

  • psalm 137(136)

  • Four stars and thanks!

  • Actually five! What was I thinking?

  • During this song they have a picture up of a tree, clouds in the background, they show the river, and the moon as well.

Where can I get a copy of this picture?

  • mdrrr , bob marley , trop mdrrr

  • esto NO es bob marley estos SON los melodians!!! excelente cancion!!!

  • ke este es bob marley????????

    engaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • this is marley guys.... u had it good before man i learned this song on guitar ask any smart, marley loving guy and he will know this is bob

  • It's the Melodians not any of the Marley's

Watch the 1973 movie "The Harder They Come" some time.

Of course Bob used to sing his version of the originals back in the 70's but this isn't him.

You are a rookie if you can't tell by hearing the vocals.

  • I was going to say the same thing. The only thing worse than this mislabel is the sublime civer of this song

  • You are a complete idiot. Know what you're talking about before you say it. It doesn't even sound like Marley!

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • Fantastic song. Absolute masterpiece.

  • ok, I corrected the title guys, thanks for the heads up!

  • apparently, it's been pointed out already, but once again:

this is NOT Bob Marley, NOT Jimmy Cliff.

    It's the Melodians.

  • yo, so NOT marley... maybe Jimmy Cliff... odd how everyone thinks a backbeat and a patois voice is marley... this is what marley listened to when HE was a kid =)

  • not marley.

    but still made me smile(:
