Hi Dave. I think he was talking about a girl/woman who he couldn't mess around. Marc probably wanted something he couldn't have. I don't think Soul of my Suit is about June or Gloria but someone else. I suppose she knows who she is. Lucky girl!!!

Hi, pargaluvva! Actually, Soul of My Suit WAS written about June. He wrote the song almost immediately following his final conversation with June. This fact has been mentioned a number of times from different sources, and, in fact, Gloria Jones has even stated that the song revolved around Marc's impending divorce from June (hence one of the lines, "...you're not such a bad girl...".

Hi chanteleigh. I really hope he was talking about June but I always have the feeling he was talking about another girl/woman. Marc, IMHO, had hidden depths and there are things we will never know about him. Whoever she was, she was a very lucky lady!!
