  • umm.i have a question on that blade toss i think it was like a quad or a triple .do you have free hands?

  • B-e-a-uuuutiful <3

  • did anyone else see lightning?!?! O.O

  • nice blade tosses. =]

  • Thats really impressive, how many rotations can you do? I just started winter guard this year and our instructor doesn't have us use sabre yet because it's her 2nd year with us and our old instructor didn't know about sabres yet. But so far, I can throw a 5. (:

  • Wow. That was really cool.

  • AWESOME. ur my new role model lol

  • music would emphasise your work but i thought you did a great job.

  • that wat kool

  • do you have any tips on doing a turn-around under a blade quad? i find myself raindowing and its bothering me!

  • @BlueEyedBocaGirl2 One problem that most people have with turn arounds is that they try to turn as they are tossing. Not sure if you are doing this too, but maybe try to separate the toss and the turn a whole count and you'll eventually get nice turn around catches.

  • @BlueEyedBocaGirl2

release then turn, you're probably turning as you are letting go.

  • thats a really good fishtail

  • This is really good. I like the technique. I don't know if you were told to bend your knees while tossing but that looks so painful. Bending your knees and jumping won't help the toss at all. Just some advice I thought I would share, but this is really cool :)

  • Looks a little tossy. You should consider keeping your left hand on the left hand side of your body and then releasing the sabre flat instead of up and down. And your hand would make the "cobra" when releaing.

Also perform make it look like the work is the worst thing you are going to have to do today...if performance is added it would make the work so much better :)

  • @KaThErInEt988 one of my instructors always tells us to use our "cobra" release, too! It really helps when tossing! :D

  • dont bend your knees when you toss, if your thinking about doing a drum core they dont like that.

  • That sounded like it hurt!

  • OMG!! A DOULBE!! i wish i could do that...but this is just my second year in guard...i dont think youre supposed to bend knees on a toss...cause in guard you use all your upper body strength...thats what i think (not really criticizing).

  • everytime you caught i flinched in pain cause i'm use to not wearing gloves when using weapons and i felt the shock pain :D nice work though

  • Very, very nice.

  • Holy crap I love you. ;D

  • all those blade tosses in there were really awesome :)

  • you're amazing! keep up the great work!

  • freakin AMAZING

  • dont bend your knees when you toss

  • Youre really good! :) is that an excalibur?

  • The way I learned how to do turn arounds was to spin on one foot but it's really hard

  • you're amazingggg! :)

  • I see a future Cavalier in the making :)

  • @superfriends21 or a future blue devil! heh

  • how do u do fish tails

  • God, I just started sabre, and I am scared s**tless. I wish I could some day be as good as you. The routine was really great, keep it up :)

  • the chick below me is hating.. i love your stuff;; and she swears like its easy

  • Overall this is really good but you keep on doing a plie on your locks before a toss. That is bad form and not neccessary.

  • this is really good work. i spin sabre myself and the only thing is free hand nees to be defined. its sorta all over the place. you didnt cut the plan on your quads which was really good.! love it!

  • amazing! (: i loved watching you. Great performance.

  • AMAZING TALENT! very impressed. The only thing I would say is during your tosses, make sure to relax your shoulders, and bring your sabre closer to your body. Your release point should be slightly above your shoulder and if I paused the video your release should have your left hand flat with the palm facing down , arm parallel to the ground making an L with your elbow. Thats the proper technique for a toss. But otherwise amazing vide and GREAT double turn under that toss!

  • You are very talented :)

  • that was amazing..

put it to music i'd really like to see that.

  • how do you spin the sabre in your hand so many times?

    i can't figure it out.

  • It looks like he's just doing flourishes.

At one point in the beginning he fish tales. But everything else looks like fourlishes.

It just looks like its so fast because sabres are just like that when you spin them haha.

  • that was definitely some of the better saber work that i've seen.

    amazing job

  • loving those free arms babbbby

  • what brand of sabre do you use?

  • you're really good!

im just barely starting to learn sabre...

any tips on what and what not to do?

  • pretty good I must say, it's better than most shit you find on here A+

  • I love it, awesome performance 5/5

  • (No, I'm not going to criticize your work.) I just started Winterguard, first year, to me that's friggin good! Just why are you in an open field, with a pointy metal object, when a storm is about to occur?

  • lol, it was cloudy that day. Where I was, it was sunny. This field is very high up in elevation. The clouds you see are lower then where I am.

  • only critizism... did i spell th@ rite??? anyways the only thing th@ wasn't good is th@ you bend your knees ALOT to throw high tosses... to fix th@? looosen up and dnt have your feet spread apart sooo much. trust me i had th@ problem too. good luck @ watever ur doing!!!

  • First of all, you don't loosen up to toss anything. You must have tension in your body to have control. And it really doesn't matter how far apart or close your feet are when you toss, they could be as close as fifth, or as wide as a split.

  • ha. one of the seniors gets mad at me for dipping on 6s, and then I ask Torrey (our instructor) and he says its okay.

  • Hm... Your locks for the tosses are at too steep an angle, but that's me being really picky. Over all I like your technique a lot more than some others' I've seen. I wish I was aloud to plie for higher tosses... lucky. =]

  • rn'y u not suppose to bend ur knees when ur doin a toss or is that just how ur instructor taught u

  • I was taught to plie when I tossed above a quad.

James Logan does it too, so I'll go with them.

  • i lov their guard so much there so good

  • @squirtle

boys don't plie with sabre. you have arm muscle, you can do without it! :)

  • If it is written in the choreograpy you can plie as much as you want. Now in a technique block, you usually do not plie on sabre, but different ideas for different people.

  • That's only like the coolest sabre work I've ever seen! Fishtails are so amazing. I just picked up a sabre yesterday and can already do one. Yay me. :D Keep spinning guys!

  • dang your hekka "BEASTIE"!

  • that was hot!

i just got back from guard pratice, and to see all that work after 8 hrs of marching was freakin awsome :)

    u rock!

    keep spinning!

    :)

  • ok, that wrist thing you did at 00:09-00:10, how did u do that? can u like.. slow down that one part? xD

  • their called "fish tails"

you start blade up in your right hand.

[straight arm out to the right side of your body]

let the tip fall downward, while letting the sabre roll over the top of your hand.

your hand will be moving back and forth [like a fish's tail] while it's rolling over your hand. :)

  • what kind of sabre are you using?

  • 39 inch spanish king sabre.

  • oh really?? It looks like a 36" lol

  • yeah baby! thats the best kind!!...this summer i got emotionaly attatched to my sabre...called him king joe...

  • CHINGOW!!!! That was pretty tight!! You should post another video in slow-mo so i can learn that!!!

  • oh leave the boy alone.. its better than most - im sure if he wanted training he knows where he could find it . NEI 2008 lololo

  • U should loose up! and have some more movement! but for 1-10 I give u a 10! good JOB!

  • with the sabre spinning on the left side of your body when you release, it will help you catch tape a lot easier resulting in a stronger catch! Great double turn-around. You have great raw talent and I hope you go far!!!

  • There is no need for a Plie when you toss and you should catch tape and not so close to the hilt on a hilt toss. When you dip your left hand with the hilt shouldn't go inside your hip, it should be right at it. you can achieve that by only moving your right hand which is on the blade to help dip. when you release, ur hand should be in a cobra position after that, it should then proceed to where it needs to be for whatever height of a toss you are doing. Sabre needs to spin on left side of body.

  • wow ur amazing at all piece of equip. and u have some very creative ideas for work!

  • Haha, get it!
