Good jeep??? Seriously? What the hell is wrong with you people? This thing had sat, rusting away for 20 years or so, after a tree feel on it, bent the body/grill and frame, demolished the windshield (i bent stuff back as best i could) and i got it for 75 bucks, because the guy was going to scrap it the following week.
I didn't have the money, or ambition to buy a lift kit, nor did i want the thing to have a higher center of gravity. Bottom line, It was mine.
@killgore375 I have a CJ5 its not been cut at all. I would have cut this one too. Look at it the body is fed up plus like he said keep the CG low. These are very narow so anything there helps.
Hey thanks man. Yeah, the really wide tires helped alot too. made it feel a little less tip-overable. Very awesome machine though! Does yours have the amc 304 V8? Or is it the amc inline 6? haha, or an older CJ-5 with a stock Buick V6, or a willys 4cyl?
@tommartyn I have the 258 in mine. Planning on doing a chevy 350/383 for it some time but have other stuff to worrie about rite now. Hay as long as your out having fun with your jeep and not just letting it sit. You can allways get new fender is you decide to restor it someday but it looks more like you are building a fun toy then a show peice. Mine is a Toy and a commuter!
So, you would have rather i hadn't bought it for 150 bucks, and it had just gone to the scrap yard to get crushed like it was going to?
I mean, its up to you, either i work hard to get a jeep running that hadn't ran since 94 or so, and that had been crushed by a HUGE tree at some point before it sat for years. So either i get it going, and it has a year or so of glorious awesome fun romping through the woods action that it was made for,
I can understand that CJ5's would be worth alot of money if they were in nice shape. but this one, tha had been crushed by a tree, and had some serious rust, probably a bent frame, and everything needed to be redone... so probably not this one. Lift kits are expensive, and alot of work. If you can make it work without one, all the better.
@joshramey hahahahahahaha What Jeep wasn't a Renegade? Its a $50 package of stickers on the internet and some different seat and top colors. No significant variation from a CJ7 that would make it any more valuable then any other poorly built AMC rust bucket. This one was trash, it still ran, he had some fun with it. Lift kits are shit.
Oh man, no respect for the Renegade. I love these early Renegades, can't believe you guys are treating it like that, wow. Hope the CJ is still alive.......
Here's the thing, i got this thing for 150 bucks, from a guy who was going to scrap it. it had sat for at least 10 years, and a huge tree had fallen right on it, smashed the shit out of everything. Its a 1974 CJ-5. with a renegade package. Its a CJ-5. not a CJ, or a Renegade. there are a whole bunch of different models that use the CJ- designation. from 2A's to 8's. i have a 1945 Willys's Jeep CJ-2A. ITS amazing. so was this 304 V8 powered beast.
when i got it, the body was bent horribly in the middle, and the hood, grill and windshild and all from a tree landing on it. it was also a rust bucket.
hahahah! Because the hair is long right? Hahahaha, OH, ahahahah, Wow, man. hahahahah, Yeah. Make the hair shorter, Ahahahah! Man, thats great. Because hair shouldn't be hahahaha, long, hahahah, ahahahahah. hahahahah.
Man, its just hair, it grows, gets long, some people like to leave it long, its natural, deal with it.
wahhhahahah! whoo! man! Seriously, Good one there! its only getting worse too man, now a days i have a completely un cut beard. good thing you didn't have that material to work with too! i would have been jam packed with more zingers from you.
You know it bro lol. I just picked up some 35" boggers for my bronco! about 70% tread..400$ :D
Guna put some 2.5" lift coils up front, i figure that plus my 4" body lift i should clear them fine :) guna need a new tranny when im done this spring hehe
not a bad deal on the tires! i had some 35's on the front of that stock ramcharger, and they only rubbed on extreme turning. and i think that was on steering parts or something. mud kings. Any way to make your truck stick? thats the ultimate! won't break, and alot more fun! :) thing sounds like its going to be pretty intense and unstopable!
it was doing pretty good actually. except for needing a gas tank in the back for fuel, and not having a radiator. and then the timing chain went at one point. but that would have been an easy fix now a days. it was the best romper we had ever had at that point. it really amazed us! :)
pretty awesome CJ5 going on here. it was cheap, 150 bucks, only thing wrong with it: crushed by a tree at one point. lost the radiator. but no big whoop. since when do we need a cooling system in the field? ;)
haha, yeah, we were serious about getting some metal out of the way... then it ended up being the roll bar hitting the back tires anyway... so it didn't even solve the problem... haha.
hahah, good eye man! its un edited. but it came out the way i was hoping. i gave the camera to drew, and told him to only record for a second or so at a time. and this was what came from that. worked out good! :)
Thats true... haven't had the beardless look going for a while... but under the beard, thats probably what i still look like. i'm the main Saw-Zaller in the vid. Drews got the white shirt and mustache. He's actually kinda reverted to that form once again! :)
i've got to be honest, i really don't like the daves farm guy. he really seems like an ass, and he pervertedly films girls in bikini's... its not cool. this video is from 2002 or 2003, never even heard of the dude until 2007 or so. he also put a vw jetta diesel engine and trans in a caravan, and says it gets 58 MPG or some crazy amount. which is a lie, because i have a diesel jetta, and get 42MPG. way lighter vehicle too. But yeah... this thing needed a fuel tank. so i did this.
yeah Dave is a tool man. He acts like a Know it all and is always scoping on teenage girls. Plus you guys actually romp some 4x4's and old tractors. That dude try's to hard to rig stuff up and call it "redneck"

So it's not a civilian jeep (CJ) with the Renegade package???? I thought it was a CJ5 with the Renegade package by the looks of the dated stickers.
