I enjoyed the comments from Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. If they read the book 'The Irish in Cape Breton' by the late A.A. MacKenzie they would know that the Irish settlers had a great influence on the music and dance as well. Guysborough County, Nova Scotia received thousands of Irish, particularly after the Wexford Rebellion in 1798 as did Margaree, Cape Breton, Isle Madame, Cape Breton and the area round New Waterford, Cape Breton.
I find it amazing that Irish sean nos and Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton step dancing have so many similarities! youtube PEI step dance to see what I mean.
@vexakin It is very familier to the Nova Scotia stepdancing .Of course why wouldn't it be when you consider the roots of N.S. and P.E.I.....Some refer to it as a Cape Breton stepdance but its roots are from the Scottish Highlands and brought to places like N.S....My father who himself was from Cape Breton and a stepdancer told me that some of the best stepdancers he ever seen came from Guysborough Co. on the N>S> mainland....Sean Nos seems to be a related dance for sure...
she's a hottie
