  • hey leofer02 Check out the crusader video.

  • Never forget the lads...

  • 25th October 1854, up the 93rd

  • LESBISCH LESBISCH UND EIN BISSCHEN SCHWUL

  • God bless the 93rd

  • What utter shite!

  • @rouseg7 your mother

  • This and Broken Heroes just reign, all hail Saxon

  • It was not as drastic as made out. I do not detract from the guts of the scots regiments. Time and time again in this era, they achieved the impossible-literally-but the thin red line was boosted as a propaganda move, since the light brigade got shredded. They needed to keep up moral at home. They fired i think, 2 volleys, and the russians ran. I am NOT dissing their bravery. But to see true bravery, look to Waterloo, or assaye, where the scots done miracles, and saved wellesleys rep.

  • GOD SAVE THE SAXON THE GOLDEN GODS OF ALL TIME!!!

  • Yes, the 93rd HIGHLANDERS.

  • thanks for this song

  • And then later, in the same battle, the Scots grays led the famous charge of the light brigade.

  • @Jinky1888 No they didn't as they were part of the Heavy Brigade (4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards, the 5th Dragoon Guards, the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons and the Scots Greys).

The Light Brigade was made up of the 4th and 13th Light Dragoons, 17th Lancers, and the 8th and 11th Hussars.

  • The Thin Red Line refers to (one part of) The Battle of Balaclava when the Scots ,greatly outnumbered,(after the Turkish "allies" fled) formed a line and faced down the Russians, who when faced with a bunch of bold hairy arse scotsmen subsequently retreated

  • @Jinky1888 The Turks fled? It was the Turks that informed us of the Russian approach. Far from fleeing they held the Russians up for 1 and a half hours. 400 out of 500 Turks were casualties in Redoubt 1 alone. They "fled" only when running out of ammo against overwhelming odds. Still many of them reformed alongside the 93rd and a contingent of Royal Marines and faced the Russian cavalry charge which wasn't pressed home as they suspected a stronger force was lying in wait behind this line.

  • "93 damn all that eagerness!", sir colin campbell.

  • good shit yeaahh.

  • GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!!!

  • There's two fundamentally wrong assumptions with the statement "god save the queen" ... one is that there's such a thing as god ... second is that you can be "saved" somehow from death ...

  • @Byron10301 save her from harm. lol byron we have had dealings b4 doesnt matter if jaweh or wotan exists you would have anarchy and that is well with me for i could thrive but think of the countless women who would be raped children who would be slaughtered there is no liberty without order traverse those grounds at your peril there must be law and that does not exist without a beleif system a moral code if you will

  • Yet more assumptions: this time around it's religion = law and religion = morality If you have time to spare, read the god delusion by Richard Dawkins, my favourite chapter is where he explain whether religion and morality are independent

  • @Byron10301 Well if this statement is incorrect then why is that that God and the Queen(or King, whoever has the throne) was able to conquer 1/3 of the world's land and population. Why is that still to this day we have a thriving Monarch. Why is it that still to this day we have organizations throughout the world that support the Monarch such as "The Orange Order? Why is it that we still have the Commonwealth. You sir may take your Republican shite elsewhere.

  • Well my country Persia, at some point ruled about a quarter of the KNOWN world too. 2500 years ago. But we never said "god save the king" ... we had different religious bullshit and political rhetoric. I can hardly see how your attribute your political and military gains to worthless words, and not to brilliant strategy ...

  • @LordWellington15 For Christs sake gow up and wise up what age are you ten.!

  • @strathpipe Um no, actually I think you are the 10 year old here. My facts are obviously correct, and all you have to comeback at them with is some stupid insult trying to say that I am 10. hahaha GSTQ

  • @LordWellington15 well first I don't know what GSTQ?means and I'm so sorry I called you ten when you are obviously nine.

  • @strathpipe Oh boy what a good come back. If you cant figure out what GSTQ means from this conversation then you have obviously never have passed grade 5

  • @LordWellington15 god save the queen :) that 10 year old couldnt figure it out haha

  • So is the song about the Zulu war or the Battle of Balaclava when the Turks retreated from Russian calvary?

  • Song references different events("Men of Harlech", "Queen's light infantry", "Hit the wire" all refer to different conflicts).

The Thin Red line originally referred to the 93rd Regiment's repulse of a Russian cavalry charge at the battle of Balaclava, but has been used more widely since then.

  • Well, that "repulsing" of Russians was more theoretical than practical.

Russians didn't have the intention to attack them and changed the target for their attack.

There is a famous painting showing the Russians a few feet away from theThin Red Line but in fact they never came that close and suffered no or almost no losses.

  • @Heightofhate

I've heard that interpretation too, and others.

  • @Heightofhate oh heightofhate its the myth that counts britain the first melting pot scots picts eirsh saxons angles and normans we got sick of foreign invasions we slit our own throats but we sent the norman lionheart out to get us some old wotan war fame and we aint looked back say nay height of hate if u will but we rule this planet and we r looking to rule the galaxies beyond our way of life is worth dying for thats why the balladeers sing the great deeds of old initiative(capitalism)is good

  • @lvcivs11 Still historical facts remain historical facts. They're hidden and that's exactly them I've an interest for.

  • @2210ethan

maybe the song is just a tribute to different units wearing the redcoat of the british army fighting different actions

  • @shitonMOHAMMAD

I know. My comment is a reply to someone else's question.

  • @2210ethan or does it refer to an amalgamation of our being as celts saxons and normans its a beautiful song a warriors song and they should be lauded for it

  • the zulu war, its about the battle of rorkes drift.

  • Nice very nice job. top 10 fav saxon song.

    CC Saltydawg,

    Salt Lake City Utah USA

  • If by squad u mean the 93rd Regiment... then yes its a squad =p

  • You have scenes from Rorkes Drift and The Charge of the Light Brigade.

The Turks defending Redoubt 1 eventually retreated and were chased by Russian cavalry. These Russians were met by a squad of Highlanders who held them at bay. The Thin Red Line.

    Good song.

  • This song is about the thin red line at rorkes drift during the zulu wars
