rename this Mimi sings "The Music That Makes Me Dance" ...that is what I LIVE FOR IN THIS VIDEO....plus, it's part of her legacy....I want her to play the mom in the revival
@UncleCharlieOakley THE MUSIC THAT MAKES ME DANCE comes from the broadway production of Funny Girl. You know that small priduction that started her career
@dirtyblondny I saw Streisand and Hines in "Funny Girl." I don't need schooling on that subject. Because the clip is Mimi Hines singing "Chicago," I somehow assumed that was what you were commenting on, that Hines' version was better than Streisand's; that's why I made the point I will repeat, Streisand never recorded "Chicago." As to whether or not Hines was "technically, a better singer," that's up for discussion. What she was, though, was very, very special. She was wonderful in "FG."
@dirtyblondny Uhmm yeah I've heard of it. And I saw that "priduction" -- spelled by most literate people as "production" -- twice in evening performances and once in a matinee. Jeez, you're not too bright, are you?
July 18th, 2009--we just saw her perform at Fred Travlalena's Memorial Celebration--she came to the stage, looked out at the audience and said, "I have to pee"..and then went into a song that brought everyone to their feet for a standing ovation..she was and is still great!!
Mimi's voice was truly amazing. I saw her in Funny Girl 27 glorious times when I was young and she never failed to bring me to tears. She always humbly and graciously received me in her dressing room after the final curtain call, along with Phil Ford and Lily their poodle. I miss those days dearly.
This is such a delight - I love this extended clip. A real glimpse at the glory days of nights clubs of yore. Mimi Hines was such a remarkable talent - funny as hell, and one of the most underrated singers of all time, in my estimation. Check out her version of "Who Are You Now?" also on YouTube.
If anyone has more Mimi clips, I would LOVE to see them.

I had never heard of Hines before I discovered her on YT. Clearly I have been missing out.

better than Streisands version. technically a better singer too - she just never clicked with the general public as a serious singer. a real pity .
