@msalak87 You honestly think that anything from Air Force history predates the Marine Corps??? the Air Force has only been around since 1947 (or 1907 if you count the Army's Aviation Section, U.S. Signal Corps) where as the Marine Corps has been around since 1775 and have been wearing the leather stock collar damn near this whole time earing the nickname "Leatherneck"
@aarondesch This style predates the Marine Corps and back in the old cav days the Army had a similiar design. I don't think they give two shits what the Corps has.
@msalak87 Marines have always had tall stiff collars, which were reinforced with leather during the American Revolution, hence "Leatherneck". This style doesn't predate anything. The Army switched to a similar style long ago and has since moved on. The Marines have always worn a high collar and always will. This looks like a cheap Chinese knock-off and was a terrible idea. If they want to go back to old times, disband the air force and merge it with the Army again, just wear their uniforms.
@realhistory1 I wouldn't go as far as saying disband the AF and merge it back with army... But I do like the idea of going back to tradition. Just... not that far lol.
It was a prototype. They could have made some modifications to make it look better.
@sangtawon I wasn't serious about disbanding it, it was sarcasm about going back to their heritage and going back in history. Army doesn't wear anything like this now, but I liked their move to the blues, like the Continental Army and Union Army wore. Much better than the green class A's
Personally i like haveing both enlisted and officers to have Epaulets and the four pocket set up, like a Hap Arnold coat; that has the open neck version. That way we have a military look that won't have to worry about sweat stains around the neck. I hate the business suits we wear right now.
@Gillybones33 Ohhhhh yeaaaa!!!!! Big time BS!! Exactly! hahaaa cuz liike they said, they did the research but what they found out is that many many people REEEEAALLY like the Marine's uniform. and everybody's impressed by just looking at Marines./// but I think it's a good thing. Why Not? really
There not TERRIBLE, but they could use something to give um alittle more UMPH ya know. Regardless I CANNOT WAIT to wear the uniform of the GREATEST air power in the world!!!!
@sandercohen1 yeap! they also look more like the Chinese rulers that don't even have any power over the military nd they just want to give a good impression.
its not realy a marine look alike cause a hundrend years ago most armies around the world had the high collar. and naval chiefs and officers still do.
you know he really didn't trash talk any branch and he is absolutely right, "why fix something that isn't broken" is absolutely right.
I like the 2nd ida for a uniform they showed, but if it were up to me the Air Force would either A. keep the service dress they have now or B. revert to the service dress they had from the 1950s to the 1990s
The World War II era uniforms for all the branches were first class, the sharpest and most attractive of any nation or era. ONLY the US Marines have retained the lines and style of those classics. The rest look like generic polyester bus driver uniforms. These US Air Force prototypes at least represent an ATTEMPT to get back that classic look. Which is why they'll probably die before production...
@iowa61- agreed. i never liked the service dress i had to wear But, i wore it well. people think these unis imitate the marines but it was an AF style back in the day. i am in favor of something classy with a bit of style AND military looking. enough of the civilian look. these unis are cool but just need a bit of tweeking.
dude im so with u on that one. they should make our uniforms like the marines uniform cuz quite frankly their uniforms look good and most chicks thinks its hot but yeah the prototype looks good but they should add another color into it
really rowdyrod77 your not no true american if you down one of the branches of the U.S. military. Your a liar if you were in the marines you wouldnt disrespect the military at all no matter what branch it is
ar u fucking kidding me???when u get shot because u stick ut like a sore thumb because the airforce decided to go with somthing that doesnt blend at all, then u come tell me the MARPAT is gay ass shit.
You all should seriously shut up. You should just be happy we have a military to serve us. Most branch bashing is just civilians that think they are BA. Real servicemen and women respect each other.
You know if people were not actively practicing douchbagary this fucking world would not suck so bad. You would not catch me in a fucking clown suit like that. Big ups to the news guy for having a chew in his mouth while doing the news that's the kind of military bearing that should be celebrated
idk but honestly i think they should get a gay fashion designer to come up with a good looking uniform cuz these military folks sure do suk. im an A1C in the security forces so yeah just let a gay guy in for like an hour and he can come up with a uniform that looks ''Fabulous'' lmao
@AaronfromWM The Air Force wasn't, but the Army Air Corps was...soooo...what's your point? I'm in the Air Force and I'm a military history fanatic, I think I know that the Air Force became a seperate branch from the Army in 1947. Is that what you were trying to nail me on?
what a joke, they are trying to look like MARINES..
like the army and navy , the air force could never be marines.
