  • Greatest vid ever

  • Fantastic !!!!!!

  • What an amazing time that was....I wish he would just come back!

  • Michael Ball is an absolutley amazing singer! He is my favorite "Marius"! However, I personally prefer Anthony Warlow's version of this song.

  • Great music. Good for the soul.

  • Wow, Michael Ball, in your total glory ... loved every precious note ... standing ovation!

  • he's so cute! XD

  • Outstanding!

  • love the video, the song and most of all Michael Ball

  • Awww I heart Michael Ball

  • If i could sing like either of them id be happy however Anthony Warlow produces much more power and his vocal technique is far superior.I guess we all have different opinions and likes.Great music all of it.

  • they don't make singers like this anymore wish they did

  • I've always admired the expression and passion he puts into his craft, and you can really see this here - I adore him.

  • Right! Anthony Warlow is the best ever I have heard who sung this song!

  • I am in love with this man.

  • Anthony Warlow is much better. He owns all these songs

  • @SquabTheBlob

After just finishing seeing and listening to Anthony Warlow, I'll have to say he's good, but I rather like the power in Michael's voice over A. W.'s. Just my preference. I would like to hear Michael Ball do "Music of The Night" so to compare that with A.W.'s .

  • his hair is so curly x)

  • Omg!!!!!!

  • Fantastic. Perfection. See you in June Michael, can't wait.

  • He is wonderful!

  • the best!!!!!

  • God what a voice!

  • Wow! So touching. Very powerful voice. Love it.

  • O lord. He messed up alot of words in this song. I agree it was waaay to fast. I am a fan of his but this..... Just was not great. I liked his last note and that is about it.

  • sung well, but its too fast. I mean he is supposed to savor the moment not rush through it, all of Jekyll's hard work throughout his life is about to be put to the test... I still love the way its sung just wish it was slower.

  • What a powerhouse =D

  • His voice improved improved when he stopped somking just befor doing hairspray.

As if you can improve on perfection but he did.

  • I've heard him sing this song better, but he just looks so darn CUTE here, and I have no idea why! I can't stop watching this!

  • Still....hot damn. Awesome.

  • I am in completely in love with Michael Ball's voice, don't get me wrong, but to me, this song doesn't really seem to fit him very well. Does anyone get what I mean?

That might just be because I just got done with listening to the obc version of it, and Peter and Michael's voice differ sooooo extremely.

  • Yeah, he did a fantastic job again!! He put his power and his soul into the song (you can see that he was smiling while he sing) that mean he was very happy to sing this song and it makes me feel like "THIS IS THE MOMENT" more than Anthony version.

Of course that Anthony also did a great job as well, his version is so soft and smooth as silk. But I think this version just become the best "this is the moment" for me.

  • @monette29 I feel Anthonys version is much better. I could feel the emotion and build of the song. He told a story where Balls version sounded like a cruise ship version. He seemed almost to take from the audience and not give. That is selfish and it showed in his smug smile. Anthony was sincere.

  • anthony w > Michael Balls

  • Great version, but Anthony Warlow is clearly superior to anyone who sings this song. Proof?

    1. Listen to him!

    2. He was chosen for the Official J & H CD production!

  • Actually, I like the tempo from this version... it's really upbeat. My favorite for Jekyll and Hyde is Bob Cuccioli- but I am very happy with Ball's rendition here.

  • Lots of power, too fast, too much vocal swooping - have heard Ball do a LOT better!!

  • not ball.

  • Anthony Warlow blows this guy out of the water (and yes I know who he is)

  • this is the best song ever i love it

  • For the record, someone mentioned colm wilkinson, he poorly sings phantom

  • I love love love Michael Ball. You guys should also check out Donny Osmonds' version of this song. It's also gorgeous.!!!

  • Tempo seems a bit quick for this song...

  • Was this at Abravanal Hall?

  • Why do people cheer through the second bar? Don't you want to actually hear the music?

  • Because people were caught up in the thrill of Michael about to sing this fantastic song. At this point in the show, we were all breathless and intoxicated from this, his first US performance.

  • @aikigirl61 - You people need to realise that there is more to life than watching some guy sing a song. However well he sings it.

  • With all due respect (?) what in the world do you think you know about my life??? Please don't answer that---you really aren't worth the thirty seconds it's taking me to write this.

  • I know that if going to see a singer causes you to stop breathing from excitement, then you have problems.

And that still doesn't explain why you all yell through the second bar.

  • @aikigirl61 So instead of listening in awe to his first US performance, you decided to yell through it instead? Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

  • Comment removed

  • @aikigirl61 I responded again because I got an email letting me know someone had replied to my comment. It is customary to reply when people speak to you. Perhaps Youtube is just terribly shit at sending notification emails in a timely fashion. (and if you look at the thread, you will see that you did, in fact, answer. I was just slow at replying to you).

  • @bookworm266 biggest pet peeve right there.

  • anthony warlow the best ever in this song!!!

  • Look at Robert Cuccioli's version!

  • Adam watkiss is good at singing this

  • He missed 2 lines near the end....."Destiny Beckons, I've Never Reckoned Second Best....."

Instead, he repeated the same verse over again. It doesn't really kill the song though. Only a true fan that knows all the words would notice that. Either way, he did a fantastic job!!!

  • Holy Sweet Mother of God! This man can sing and sing with SOUL! Man! Wow!

  • i have trouble not picturing at Marius

  • The best version of this song is sang by Rhydian Roberts!

    Check it out!

  • why would people try to say he didn't screw the lines? he did. get over it.

and he's not awful, but colm wilkinson owns this song. look it up. it's not even close

  • Personally I think Anthony Warlow owns this song.

  • I love Colm Wilkinson, but no one beats Anthony Warlow

  • is it just me or did he sing the song faster? I've only heard one other version and it was a bitttt slower.

  • yep, its a bit faster

  • he is amazing, but he did miss TWO LINES...its not going to kill the song. and the most important thing is he stayed with it and made it look like he meant everything that he did. he puts so much passion into his work regardless of what happens. and THAT is what makes up a legend!

  • Could you do better?

If not, just enjoy his wonderful voice.

  • uhm...okay. haha

  • How right you are, there is no one that surpasses this amazing man......Without doubt he is an absolute legend!!!!!!!

  • Are you kidding me? The man is perfection! Youve got a hell of a nerve to say he messed up something... Please..

Michaels singing soars above and beyond the others... Wonderful!

  • he is good... but to me... Justin Hayward owns this song.

  • @bardbulky15 By God you are appalling. Perfection does not reside within this world, and disagreeing with your skank-based gutter tripe opinion takes no "nerve" ... This was a wonderful performance though - I personally prefer Anthony Warlow's, but that's just because his voice is more powerful and musical than Michael's ...

  • @bardbulky15 when I first saw this comment i was like, wait what the hell did he muck up?!? then i watched again and realised he said "damn all the odds" twice. The thing is, the fact that i didn't notice the first time means it really is quite irrelevant. You're completely correct, Michael's voice is so angelic that a mere lyrical error really makes no difference what so ever!

  • @bardbulky15 I think they meant that he messed up the lyrics, but his singing IS perfection!

  • fuck u

  • I love this song and it sings it well.

  • Whow... Still have goosebumps...

  • omg, why can't some people just accept that this is one of the most moveing songs in this lifetime, it's like all the passion in the show went into that song, it somes up his drive and pride in jekyll, fro shame for those who critisise it! x x x

  • I am impressed with his performance!

  • this is really GRAND!

    greetings from the Philippines!

  • como siempre, una voz destacable!!!

  • Robert Cuccioli sings it SO much better.

  • He sings this song too pretty.

It should start off as a reflection of what he is facing and not be so cheesy.

Jekkyl just had everyone tell him that he has no support and this is his "screw you all, I'll do it on my own" song. Yes it's a power ballad, but there should be some emotion behind it.

  • Well it IS a cheesy song, you have to admit it. It's definitely a singer's song, not an actor's song.

I agree with you that usually musical theater songs are meant to be acted primarily and sung secondarily, but with Wildhorn and Webber it should be treated basically like pop music, especially out of the context of the musical.

  • i saw him live in le miz when the show came to san diego

  • Comment removed

  • I hated the tempo. I think Jack Wagner sang it better on Broadway.

  • jack wgner? the gay porn guy?

  • No, the actor from Melrose Place who replaced Robert Cuccioli. Great actor and singer

  • Yeah, I have a full audio with Wagner as J&H. He's amazing!

  • Love it, though I don't love the tempo.

  • Hey I was at this very performance. Best concert ever!!!

  • Me too!! The Best!!!

  • god he wears so much makeup i didnt recognize him on wikipedia when i looked him up he has the most awesome voice if you havent check out his les mis solos. so much emotion

  • i have the dvd and the soundtrack of him playing marius in les mis... he is amazing..

  • He definitely has the voice to sing this, regardless if some other singers do it better. I say he has a right to sing anything if wants to. Go Michael!

  • AGREE

  • MIchael can take a song from any musical- and anyone else's standard interpretation- and reinvigorate it with passion, nuance and sheer power. I'd rather hear him sing anything than hear any one's ele's tempid version. A generous performer.

  • Thanks for sharing this. I enjoy Michael's version of this song, even though it is differnt from Anthony Warlow and Robert Cucioli.

  • Michael Ball did a fantastic job. But this song is owned by Anthony Warlow.

  • This is wonderful! Check out Brad Robins' version as well!!

  • Brilliant, thanks for uploading this, quality picture aswell.

  • Michael sang his heart out for this, his US debut and after the second night's show, he lost his voice. The next day he was unable to sing for a taped broadcast of 'Amazing Grace' with the Morman Tabernacle Choir.

  • I was at this concert in Salt Lake City, Michaels's concert debut in the States. If you've never seen him live, get yourself there--- and prepare to be speechless as me and my friends were. His voice is incredibly powerful as is his generous stage presence. The whole audience was intoxicated by this one man! Love you Michael!!

  • He is no Robert Cuccioli! Robert sang this song to perfection. Robert savored every lyric and made the listener gasp! I like Michael Ball, but he should not sing this again like this.

  • Lindíssima música, linda apresentação.

    Parabéns pela escolha.

  • PERFECTION!!

  • Wow, I just found this buried in my favorites. I heard it such a long time ago, and looking back, this was the first time I had ever heard this song, or anything from Jekyll and Hyde, now one of my favorite musicals. Talk about nostalgia! Kudos to Michael Ball for being so fabulous!

  • as good as he is, Anthony Warlow will always own this song and role

  • fantastic

    i love michael ball

  • I'd kill for that voice...so glad that I heard of Michael Ball a few years ago

  • Eric Santos watered down the key of This Is The Moment and made it so pop. I wouldn't even dare him to compare Michael Ball, a musical theatre icon, or even the great Anthony Warlow to him. Reality check!

  • If you love this song and would like to hear another EXCELLENT version of it, go to Myspace Music and search for a guy named Kurt Bowen...he's UNBELIEVABLE!! (YouTube won't allow the actual site address to be posted here, so you'll have to do a search - sorry:) He has "Love Changes Everything" on there, too!

  • is there anything this man can't do?! incredible

  • U shud hear him hit it live. its unreal

  • wow!!!! amazing interpretation but he is at his best at the high tenor range. for example, love changes everything is HIS song. no one can touch him on that song, when he hits that "high B" at the end...... chills!

  • FANTASTIC...5*

please take a listen to my version.

id very much appreciate your comments.

    regards dave

  • i love how he gets the words wrong, you can see it in his face, he's still a ledgend

  • so who exactly is the original singer to this song?!! i cant choose my fav.!!!

  • the original singer to ever sing this song was Colm Wilkinson he did the original concept album of Jykkl and Hyde before it went on stage look it up if you don't believe me

  • good interpretation, but no one can come close to Anthony Warlow.

  • He is VERY good wow, BUT,,,Warlow owns this song :)

  • A Perfect creation of God from the tip of his hairs to the tip of his toes...inside and out...

  • RObert Cucioli owns this song

  • i agree

  • Anthony warlow absolutly KICKS THIS GUYS ASS. PLease forgive me people, I love Balls Marius but this song is owned by warlow.

  • Was he Sam Gimli in Lord of the Rings?

  • no that was sean astin, mind you the likeness is close.

  • **takes moment to scrape jaw off of floor**

He made a slight boo-boo on the lyrics but dang he made that look so effortless! I love to hear him sing and he is sooooooo amazing!

  • i had to smile along with hiim ;)

  • absolutely sensational!

  • Was he Marius in the 10th anniversary performance of "Les Miz" at Royal Albert Hall?

  • Yes, he was. He was also the Marius in the Original London Royal Shakesphere Company's production.

  • Yes :D

  • are you serious dude?

  • Very good.

  • what a voice!.....it inspired me so much.....

  • Micheal is always perfect!! Great job even though he messed up the words, but i love how everything seems ssssssssssoooooo easy to sing and comes so natural to him! Beautiful!!that was his moment!

  • MICHAEL BALL IS A GOD!!!!

  • The BEST This is the Moment!

  • Totally Agree!!!!

  • THis Mr. Ball 's face is more and more like a BALl...(Just kidding) He has the voice I am dying to own!!

  • I like David Hasselhoff personaly, he is my favorite!

  • Are you for real?

  • haha he did mess up on this - he missed out the sixth verse and had to repeat the 8th twice

his facial expressions and gestures and so staged and unconvincing - not a real deep performance fo me - he tries to use his vibrato too much and gets too excitable. Prefer Anthony Warlow myself. Oh well well done to him though :D

  • How can one sing this song and not get excited - listen to the lyrics.....

  • I LOVE THIS MAN'S VOICE!

  • i like his voice but his vibrato get's annoying after awhile, i like when he just hits notes clearly

  • Everyone likes different performers for their own personal reasons...why go to a Michael Ball video just to trash him? Stick to your own kind!

  • hope and trusting that you never have a "ha ha moment" because you are special..and you are quite awesome..not to mess up and be judged harshly... tgcoy...

  • he messed up! haha

  • Absolutely brilliant.

  • awesome..he makes a song come alive..so encouraging..puts his whole heart and soul into it...

  • MICHAEL BALL IS A GOD!

  • what a powerful jekyll !!

  • Love the song, love him.

  • It's great except he messed up the words. He sang the same verse twice.

  • which verse? i couldnt tell

  • PLEASE CHECK this is the moment ediz

  • Wow what a voice!!! I love this song and he does it sooooooo well!!! Well done Michael!!!

  • he's CUTE!!!! GGrrrrRRR

  • Awesome song, awesome voice!

  • RClark18: Michael Ball is Welsh and English. He jokingly calls himself "Wenglish." :)

  • I remember when he did that, he was scheduled to perform again the next day, but he got so into it the night this was recorded that he blew his voice and couldn't sing the second performance. That was a bummer for all of us planning on going that second day. Ah well.

  • what a great voice!

  • Bravo!!! This has gotto be the best version of this song!!! I've heard local singers (from the Philippines) do this song, they're quite impressive, but this one is simple yet FANTASTIC!!!

  • Nah - look up Anthony Warlow for better versions. This is good, but Warlow is defintely better technicaly, and does better interpretations....

  • Thanks Colino! I'll look it up. :D

  • fabulous!!!

  • I heard this song sung by Michael Ball...but I didn't know who it was..it took me 2 weeks after listening to a lot of male singers to find him here on YOU Tube..what a joy...He is a singer a performer...WoW is all I can say

  • I'm seeing Michael in concert next March at Brighton. Lost track how many times I've seen him now! I love this song, noone sings it quite like him. Brilliant!!

  • He is always SO stunning! Easily one of the best males singers I've EVER heard. Love this guy.

  • he was in Salt Lake and I missed it?!?! wah!

  • He is fantastic... But I always thought he was Welsh not English?

  • galeng!

  • I love his voice but I always think he looks very smug!
