Pups learn proper manners from their mom -- this one's teaching her babies NOT to try and take other dogs' food. That puppy didn't actually get bitten, and if it did, it was a light nip that didn't do permanent damage. Mama was just showing it that it couldn't take someone else's food, which is going to be very useful when the pup gets older.

By feeding a food aggressive dog near her puppies, you are setting her up for failure. If you know the dog is food aggressive, why would you take the chance? That's just not smart.
And about the ear cropping thing, Mamatasha09 is right about there being any medical purpose to crop the dog's ear unless it's an emergency (i.e. infected wounds, etc). Most people do it for aesthetic purposes. I'm not saying it's wrong or right to crop, but I think they are much cuter when their ears are all flappy.

I rescue bullies and there is nothing wrong with what mama did. She was merely warning the puppy that it was her treat. That is a normal, healthy reaction of a dog whether its a mama with puppies or 2 mixed breeds. She looks healthy and balanced and so does the litter. I hope they all find responsible, loving, educated homes. Good job taking care of them!
Food aggression is caused from when they are puppies all of them trying to eat from one bowl and haveing to fight over the food pushing each other. thats likely in many cases or there isnt enough food and they want it. MY dog did the same thing but as he went to eat i went over and pet him and dangled my hand next to the bowl pet his head and slowlie worked towards the bowl now i can pretend to eat his food while he is eating i can play with his food while he eats. =] hope it helps.

I don't think it's food aggression, I think it's "I've had too many puppies aggression." She's teaching the puppies not to get near her rawhide. I hope she's spayed, and indoors now. No dog needs to be bred (especially pitbulls, who are the most frequently abandoned dogs, and put down dogs in the country), or left outside.
After I got my puppy from a breeder I was upset because I was selfish I wanted my "own" dog. Not one that had been abandoned. After my APBT dies I will start adopting older ones. The ones everyone forgets about. Think about how everyone wants their "own" dog next time you look into the eyes of a senior dog at the Humane Society.
I dunno what's so funny about the mom snapping at the puppy like that, she obviously has issues with being aggressive when it comes to eating... Won't be funny if a kid sticks their hand near her mouth next time there's food around...

Yep, all dog moms have to correct their pups. Dad will as well if he is involved as my dog's dad was. Dad was a bit more patient because they weren't biting his nipples but he still kept them in line.

After I got my puppy from a breeder I was upset because I was selfish I wanted my "own" dog. Not one that had been abandoned. After my APBT dies I will start adopting older ones. The ones everyone forgets about. Think about how everyone wants their "own" dog next time you look into the eyes of a senior dog at the Humane Society.

I dunno what's so funny about the mom snapping at the puppy like that, she obviously has issues with being aggressive when it comes to eating... Won't be funny if a kid sticks their hand near her mouth next time there's food around...

IMO you should never feed a food aggressive dog around her puppies. I also want to point out the fact that there is no medical reason to crop a dogs ears unless your trying to make them look mean and aggressive in which i tend to believe the breeding is only to make a pay check. No one in their right mind docks of dogs ears unless they are trying to fight them or scare people away which why in the world would you want to do that?! Have ur ears docked see how it feels.

Also, while you're completely entitled to your opinion, you have no right to tell someone what is "right or wrong" when it comes to things like cropping ears. All of that was just your opinion. People crop ears and tails all the time for various reasons. You're just assuming things because you have a certain mindset and only see what you want to see.

@Lelixlover Wrong. In several states it is illegal to crop ears or tails. It's not opinion when it's law, and it's well established that neither are necessary or helpful, except in fighter's eyes. If you're fighting dogs, you're violating federal and state laws in all 50 states. Nobody gives a damn about people, people can either get a tattoo or piercing or not. Dogs don't have the choice. You are not one of the sharper tools in the shed.

@christa4animals thank you! People are so ignorant i swear. Both my boys are pits and hell if i would ever crop or dock ears or tails. It just causes pain for the dogs and it has no medical purpose. And i still say this dog is food aggressive and i have means to think the owner has made her that way. But the cropping the ears just irks me it makes a sweet dog look ridiculous. Thanks for backing me up :)

@Lelixlover I think you need to do your research hunnie. No dog "needs" to have their ears cropped or tails cropped unless its due to medical reasoning in which pitbulls do not need neither. Its inhumane and torture. Why dont you go get ur ears chopped off and see how it feels. It was all used for fighting purposes hello put 2 and 2 together. I have 2 pits both have their tails and ears. Id never put them thru that nonsense bs.

If you have ever seen a pibble mom telling her pups their little needle teeth are too sharp for nursing this is mild. She will never hurt them but she can growl and snap.
Yep, all dog moms have to correct their pups. Dad will as well if he is involved as my dog's dad was. Dad was a bit more patient because they weren't biting his nipples but he still kept them in line.
