I understand the light placement, but how would you white balance the shot? Using gels? How much power does a blue gel cut?

Hey bro, I'm getting a new Canon XA10 soon with a wide angle lens, some studio lights, lavalier mic and digital recorder (I chose the Tascam DR40 over the Zoom H4n). What's your recommendations with the lav mic - which would u recommend and what's the best device to use for recording sound? Lav mic or digital recorder? Cheers bro
