This game is awesome! It really shows the acts of war, I almost got a tear when i played it, in Pearl Harbour, I saw so many people die, and i think: "This is what happend 70 years ago, it's not a fairytale", and I want to make this game as realistic and historic as in the real war, so i play on Realistic difficulty, I turn Allied icons off, and bleeding on, and crosshair off (I might turn it on later, and I have HUD on, so i can see how badly hurt I am (I might turn it off) Please answer this.
Definitely. Lack of a sprint button, no instant-kill melee, no regenerating health, etc. Only one problem: the game itself isn't particularly good. In case you didn't notice in the video, damage modeling is pretty odd and going to crouch/prone is clumsy (which is weird considering Allied Assault did it fairly well). Makes it annoying to play.
This is my favorite Medal of Honor game! :D It was pretty cool that you had a squad to command and that you have to actually have to worry about your HP which brought awesome challenge in veteran mode, unlike the CoD series. :) It is cool that your giving this one a try. Lol, I would call for the medic after every wave, and then my medic says, "no way! Im not healing you anymore!" lol! The good times!
CoD1 is actually very difficult on the veteran setting. The game doesn't give you any way to replenish your health, thus you have to play extremely carefully. CoD2-BO all have regenerating health though so I can see why you'd think they're too easy (that's why they improved the AI).
I don't really like Pacific Assault though. The squad mechanic is pretty unnecessary, the shooting feels awkward, and the movement is pretty clumsy.
When MoH:AA came out, it was the first game which made you feel like you're participating in a movie. Couple of years later CoD came out, and did everything that AA did, but better: it was grittier and more exciting. Then EA started to turn MoH into a CoD clone, and MoH games became worse and worse. It's sad and ironic.
It's more like Medal of Honor struggled to find a place in the FPS world after Call of Duty blasted it out of the water. They tried all sorts of different mechanics for a while (eg. PA has basic squad commands, Airborne has that insertion thingy, etc.), but never settled on anything definitive. In addition, WWII shooters had just become extremely tired. There's only so much you can do with the setting after all.
There are a lot of games I've tried but never got around to getting. Besides, I'm going through university right now so I don't have much extra cash to spend.
@DWTerminator just to clarrify im not trying to be mean.but if you love games and say you heard of an extremely popular online shooter called tf2 why didn't you get it before it was free?was it just you never got round to it?
I have a rather large "to get" list so a lot of other games I want to get take priority. I didn't get TF2 because I was able to play it during a free weekend and didn't like it. At the time the only way to get it was in the Orange Box, which I just never got around to getting at the time.
I rarely get games near release anyway. I simply can't afford to.
@DWTerminator HAHAHAA! Was that because of me and kris10ish that you did that playthrough? If so, thanks a lot!! Anyway, in your description you seem to hate the game! I agree with you, as I said before, that it is much worse than COD1 and especcially MOHAA , but I thought you actually liked the demo when it first came out! Also, I agree with you that the game is more clumsy than MOHAA,, and the script of the story is just like a bad version of Full Metal Jacket (awesome movie by the way!!)
Kinda. You guys reminded me so I figured "eh why not?"
I don't "hate" MoHPA. I just don't find it particularly entertaining. It's just another WWII FPS in a sea of WWII FPS's. Gameplay's just really awkward (which is weird, MoH usually plays fairly well at least) and doesn't really stack up to other games out there.
@DWTerminator I agree with you. And the funny thing is that Pacific Assault was actually a PC game, and not some sort of console port. You really can't excuse the weird mouse look and the awkward movement!! I don't know if you intend to play the full game, but the only worth mentioning things are the Pearl Harbor mission (which is too scripted but at least is original and goodlooking), and the mission where you fly the plane.

They don't make them like they used to.

True. It's for good reason in some cases though (such as this one).

@DWTerminator There are points where you can clearly see old school shoot em up design hidden in it.
Very interesting. ( I never played this specific game, at least from what I remember)

... and Medal of Honor was never the same.

Yep. There's really no excuse for PA being this clumsy. I do intend to get the full game eventually but I'm not sure when that'll happen. We'll see.
