Idea,, Being a retired plumber pipefitter may I suggest something I KNOW from experience that will benefit you. If thats daylight at the very top of your overhead door its letting a cold breeze blow over your piping. Places like that are where a plumber will ALWAYS look first for a freeze up. Seal off that gap and other outside to inside air leaks and you'll reduce REDUCE!!! the odds of a freeze up

hey man, if you paid 50,000 for that system, maybe you should call the place and complain about why they didnt properly insulate the system. They make special insulation for pipes like that, and the expensive component valves and shit. Seems like there could be a lawsuit for the repairs of not taking the time to properly insulate their work.

i dont know nothin about temperatures that low... but i do know my shop has no heater, and at 30 degrees, dipping your hands in thinner, even with gloves on, feels like dipping em in nitroglycerin lol. cant stand that shit... in the summer it seems to burn me, in the winter it damn near gives me frostbite. crazy shit lol

Pete, I was a mechanic for years, and worked at home every night to pay bills, & quit because of non payers, and family (wealthier )wanting free labor on repairs. I barely made enough money to pay bills let alone finance "toys". After a promotion 11 years ago I could suddenly afford my car hobby, but had to retire 6 years ago (age 45) with because of MS. Pete maybe the cheapest way is the most laborous way. Meaning going to Grainger or other industrial supply house to see if they can get you the seal kits and repair parts for the valve(s) that are broken or leaking. They may be very low cost (compared to the alternatives anyway). That with some pipe fittings and whatever pipe lengths you need shouldn't be too bad. That's just one theory anyway. It's easy to say this when I'm not in your shoes though Pete. Good luck to you guys man!

@mine1username Yeah I have already called Granger to see if I can get the gaskets I need, the problems we have is some unions , elbows and 3 way junctions are busted in half, to replace them you have to go through the whole system and dismantal it.. You can't use couplers on the fire system here, has to be solid pipe and fittings... A FUCKING MESS!

As far as your electric bill goes, most electric companies have whats called a bill leveling plan. They estimate what your bills are for the entire year and then spread the cost evenly throughout the year, so you dont get a super high bill in the winter, and then a small electric bill in the summer. You just get a medium bill every month, so no big surprises. This is what we had to do.
