This is a whole decade after Quartey's best years and he still looks deadly. The jab he revealed against Jung-Oh Park in '95 is the fastest jab of all time. Of all time. In the years between 1991 and 1996, I truly believe Ike Quartey could have fought evenly with SSR, Duran, Chavez, even Robinson because his jab was invisibly fast.
@ChessMasterHarvey Agreed, some HW's with good jabs have looked more impressive due to their size and power but Quarteys technique is the best their has ever been-Hes a huge under achiever aswell
I want to try to copy his jab technique, but I can't even see how he's getting his power - none of his body moves aside from his arm! -How is his jab so powerful??
Hey nic, I believe it's core strength. Yes it's true his body is not moving like you see others do when they jab; however, there is a very explosive short-turn in his torso with every jab. Many fighters just step with the jab; he is actually twisting slightly when he jabs. Again; I think it's great core strength.

They allow their weight to up and down too much. Not staying steady. Meaning if you are schedule to fight at 147lbs. why would you walk around weighting three or four pounds more then that. If you fight, at 147 then you should never weight three or four pounds more then that at any giving time.

Two of the main reasons many fighters today dont have one punch knock out power is because they play with their weight too much. Many of them will only be mediocre at best. And that goes for Forrest, Mayorga, Quartey and many, many others. It manly comes lack of discipline and poor schooling during the amateurs.
ike has a great jab and he I enjoyed watching his fights...he probably had the lowest body fat % out of any athlete I've seen-I focus on boxing and mma and ike has a crowd pleasing style-I'm a big fan. good workout
