Thanks markross2 for your comments; I really hoped to hear some disagreement. Here is my reply Taxes are a form of revenue for the government, and as revenue goes up, the deficit goes down. So, yes, higher taxes do pay down the deficit directly.
Thankyou for your reply. Do not underestimate the percentage of your tax dollar that does not go to pay down the deficit, but rather goes to giving other people a percentage of the wealth you worked hard to generate. The smaller amount of your tax dollar that gets given to other people, the larger amount of your tax dollar can be dedicated to paying down the deficit, and the sooner we pay down the deficit.
If the increase in your tax rate was to pay for infrastructure or directly pay down h deficit, I would agree with you. But the extra amount of tax you pay will go to simply give money to other people. Will those people spend that money wisely? Will they invest in America's future? There is nothing wrong with paying tax to support the system, but to just give that money to someone else?
Finally, two wrongs don't make a right. Just because the government has made the mistake to redistribute money to filing baks, temporarily to stave off a financial crisis, doesn't justify Øbama wanting to make redistribution of wealth a stand operating procedure for the federal government...
Also, the only way the government simply gives money to people is in the form of welfare and tax credits; Obama has not said he would increase either of these. So, the extra tax we pay will not be simply given to people. It will go to the system and be used for America's future.
Be careful. Obama's tax credit plan as written will qualify a large number of people for a "tax credit" who do not pat income tax. Giving a "tax credit" check to someone who doesn't pay taxes is welfare...
Very sensible opinion. It is very sad to see how ordinary people like Joe the plumber are being preyed upon by political leaders.
By the way, if this video gets to the hands of RNC saka1961 will be mocked beyond her imagination !!! Because, they don't hesitate to make fun of things like "community organizing" or "paying higher tax for high income as a patriotic atc". Bottom line, you HAVE to be a republican to be patriotic; otherwise anything you say about patriotism can be ridiculed !!!
It's good to see a fine American with fine ethics and a code of social responsibility. Obviously, Saka is a relatively recent immigrant and it is a shame that we don't see more multi-generational Americans espousing such admirable principles. Thank you Saka.
Thank you very much for your kind comments. I sincerely hoped to motivate all Americans to care for each other, particularly in this bad economic time.

Beautiful sentiment! Very nicely done. Only in the US is the common good considered a bad thing.
