@GOATAli they both would have run faster if they raced together. Ovett and Coe rarely raced. Kaki and Rudisha rarely race. Rudisha ran in Holland recently and Kaki is in France this weekend. A pity. They would surely push eachother to something special.
@GOATAli - Yes! When he ran 1:41.7 he ran wide to pass the rabbit just after 400m, otherwise it would have been more like 1:41.5. AND it was the beginning of June. Even without Kipketer, Coe should have been able to lower it by the end of that 81 season had he not gone after the Mile record & had to run the Europa & World Cup 800s to show he could win important races. Had someone else come out & run low 1:41 in July 81, I think it highly likely Coe would have gone after it & lowered it further.
@MrFookwithya mmmmmm. Ok. Who am I. I write wonderful poetry but my grammar is terrible. Ironic dont you think. Or have I misused the word ironic. Again. lol. Cheers.
Now THAT'S how to run the half! Go out HARD from the gun like you DON'T CARE and nearly go sub-48 in the FIRST LAP! Reminds me of Johnny Gray and Earl Jones! So UNLIKE many of the 800 meter guys we see these days, particularly that CHICKEN SH*T Andrew Wheating who sits back until the LAST 150 METERS to try to STEAL the race from the guy who DOES ALL THE WORK! Kipketer was DA MAN!
Did you know the guy that came 2nd, Patrick Ndururi (Kenya) setting his fastest ever time of 1:42.62, died last month of a suspected heart attack? No one from the Kenyan Athletics Ass. apparently attended the funeral. Nothing was published in the National papers in Kenya. Everything has been very hush, hush. Death was confirmed on LetsRun and T&FN. Very odd that there are no details. Makes one think, doesn't it!?
Hi! Not sure what u mean by "Flo is ok"? If you mean Flo Jo, then I have no idea what caused her death. I have no idea how Ndururi died, accept for what a poster put on T&FN & Lets Run. They said it was a heart attack. You have to admit it is very unusual for someone that fit to die at 40,& even more unusual that nothing has come out in the press about it. I would have thought athletes like that would be national heroes. Then again as no news has come out it might not even be his heart! Strange.
is this why its called ( in denmark) "running a kipketer"?

Unbelievable pure elegance. The great man. Beautifil forever. And always the greatest.

No I am not fearful of Wilsons record being broken. .4 is still a huge margin in 800m terms. Half a second lets say.

Runners like Bolt, Carl Lewis and Kipketer are simply beautiful to watch...so smooth and natural.

Kipcheater was a stinking doper.
mrlogic4u 1 year ago
How do you know? And what did the IAAF do when you gave proof that Wilson Kipketer doped? Revoke his records? Strip him of his medals?
YiftertheShifter1 1 year ago
@mrlogic4u of course with your logic Flo Jo wasnt. So is Rudisha a doper as well.
