  • hey can someone please tell me what the song is that is playing at the beginning? thanks

  • Coming on Sonata Arctica's new album

  • SOLD!

  • Awesome concept, awesome instrument. I think it is more of a performance instrument than a production instrument. This video only briefly demonstrates the tonal range of this instrument and instread focuses on the horrible music and bad fusion tone of whatever this jazz phenoms name is. ( He does have great chops) just doesn't do the instrument justice. My favorite part of the video is the announers voice. Almost as smooth as Don Cornelius

  • Dear KORG: I love you. From the 707, to that epic M1, to the beloved TRITON you bring the most amazing keyboard instruments in the world- to the world. Sincerely, me. -=- Can you tell I really like this?? That's just beyond awesome. Listened to one at the GC, and the analog "realism" is very impressive. Even the knobs "feel" nice. Uhh!

  • Can anyone help me, i'm a smalltime producer/beatmaker, and the sv-1 seems like a great instrument, but i'm young and broke... And since i'm not a badass piano playin man ;), it wouldn't seem like a smart buy. I want to be able to make jazzy/souly organ sounds with a keyboard, or maybe even a vst plugin through a midi-controller... Can anyone help me?

  • @eazypop If you're broke,I think you might be better off searching for some god "entertainment keyboard"that has all GM sounds, such as a Yamaha PSR423 or similar. They are pretty versatile and do sometimes have pretty decent organs(only without any control over the tone),to the ear of a layman. If you want more professionalism and it's only organs you are after, I'd suggest a second-hand modeling Hammond or a Nord Electro (any generation will do).Try them out to see, what works for you.

  • @saheltaja *good keyboards, I was saying. Obviously there are no "God" keyboards in the low-price category... ;)

  • @eazypop Hammond SK1....mainly the real deal Hammond,,,and the other sounds are classic...I'm buying one in about a month....

  • @zeuq1 awesome!! but that's still way too expensive for me... Isn't there some way i can recreate that wurly sound through my pc and play it with my midi controller??

  • Lol Jump at 2:20.

  • Are you able to layer the sounds? For example the grand piano + strings.

  • This looks amazing. It looks like Captain Kirk designed a keyboard. Gorgeous instrument.

  • OK Korg. It's no secret that this unit has been plagued with problems!!! PLEASE release an updated redesigned version (SV-2) addressing the issues and using Kronos technology!!! ASAP!!! I'm waiting!!!!

  • Is it a real valve tube there or is it an imitation?

  • @MeldMagic It's a real 12AX7 preamp tube I believe

  • well the rhodes mark 7 looks a lot like this...

  • I've tried one of this yesterday.

This is much better than Nord.

    The TUBE is just kills!!!!

Without the TUBE is just same as Nord but using the TUBE it is much better. The only thing what missing for me is the pitch bend.

But this thing is perfect. Yamaha's piano is much better but for me it is enough. I decided to buy this with 88 key. So now my Rhodes is for sale.

  • where is the split?

  • sounds good but ugly as hell :(

  • Anyone want to trade one of these or a nord for my rhodes? plus or minus some cash, a VERY nice acoustic electric bass and a clavinova. I'm sure we could work something out.

  • im gettin this on wensday from samash!!!

  • does have a Yamaha Cp70 sound?

  • Your wish is granted.

  • just when i thought this keyboard couldn't get any cooler, neal evans showed up.

  • How about updating your USB-drivers so they'll actually work?

  • how about drawbar control?

  • I want it.. :)

  • Bought this y'day. But disappointed in the piano sound. I have been playing a Roland for years on stage and in my home have the Roland LX10 upright which is BEAUTIFUL to the touch and ear. Feels and sounds so much better. I'm not too concerned with keyboard sounds etc, the piano sound and feel is all I want - have I made a mistake? I know the Roland Lx10 is twice the price, and it is for the house. I wanted the perfect piano for stage. Help, advice please.

  • @SharonReid100 nord piano? possibly if u want to pay the price. i've heard good things about korgs pa series. maybe even a kurzweil. I would go to a place called sweetwater (you may have heard of it, it's in fort wayne indiana) and talk to them and try the keyboards there. it's a lot better than guitar center. you'll have very many options, and they know their stuff.

  • It has that 70s organ look!!! ITS A DREAM COME TRUE AND ITS A KORG!!!!

  • What would be a cheaper alternative to this?

  • Anyone know if the piano sample is new or if it's a high rez of the original SG-1 sample?

  • Продам В Москве KORG SV-1(73 и 88) LP-350 M3 M-50 Все новое-Все с официальной гарантией! Звоните.............................8(926)382-64-21.

  • Hi,

I'd be running this through a Traynor keyboard amp that already has two tubes in it, though would probably blend the two sounds. Does one have the option of disengaging the tube within this unit?

  • I love my new Korg SV-1...Tory from Austin Texas singer songwriter musician actress. Bought it this summer in LA. 73 keys weighted keys

  • I am so hot for this keyboard.

  • Can this be used as a midi master keyboard?

  • I just bought one of these badboys the other day. Fucking worth every penny. Anyone who tries one should play 'superstitious' on Clavi.

    AWESOME SOUND!!!

  • I want the intro music!! Anyone know how to get it?

  • Mmh... I dont like the design. It looks very cheap in my opinion.

Also I think the nord stage has a way better sound.

  • im down in SATX and nowhere in town carries this. even the keyboard dept at sam ash didnt even know what it was. i dont get it. i had to go to Austin just to play one to sample.

  • :) I just fell in love

  • how do you get the sound at 2:17 on a korg x50?

  • @gnrfanatic141414 Although the sample content on the X50 is different than the SV-1, you'll find some similar sounds in the "Fast Synth" category of programs on the X50. This is a popular sound, often referred to as "analog brass" or "saw brass," after the sawtooth waveform at its foundation.

  • Hi, Will new multisamples be released or will the sound packs (like 1&2) consist only of reworked factory samples always? Will the editor software stay limited to FX editing or will, at some point, actual editing tools for the samples themselves be included in an update; The pianos & MKS-20 have far too much sustain & I was greatly forlorn to find there was nothing I could do. Are plans to make the RX noises individually editable (instead of one volume & EQ for a cluster of noises) forthcoming?

  • @gnrfanatic141414 /if u don't know your instruments u r slip en

  • The distortion off this is amazing.

  • she's the one baby

  • Man i should have snagged this off amazon the other day! The 73 key was on sale for $1699! Now its back to $2000 :(

  • @djphatd

    $1500 on ebay

  • Keyboard, schmeyboard. This guy's voice is legendary.

  • So buy synthetizer.

  • I played one of these today and was impressed. The only negative is that some of the control knobs have a less than sturdy feel --which was ironic, considering how much quality went into the solid hammer feel of the keyboard.

  • It's about time the synth manufacturers started to figure out what the big guitar makers already have and that is that the $ and demand is for VINTAGE gear! Wake up fellows. Most of us been waiting for a long time for either Korg, Yamaha or Roland to step up and give us a vintage simple design, no menus with desired vintage tones ie:

    Yamaha CP70b Piano

    ARP String Ensemble

    Roland VP330 Choir & Strings

    Hammond Organ

    Fender Rhodes

    Jupiter 8 Pads

    OBXA Pads (U2 Streets/MLK)

    DX7 Bells (U2 Bad)

  • @gtrefxman

    Don't forget Wulritzer and clavs.

  • @gtrefxman true, true

  • cant wait to get mine

  • This just replaced my '77 Stage Rhodes MK I. I'm not crazy impressed with the organ as there is no drawbar controls or percussion, which is a huge part of organ playing, it's use is limited. This isn't a big issue because I also bring a Hammond XK3-c. The organ sounds that are here are pretty alright though. As much as I love my vintage pianos, this board sounds and feels fantastic and I'm not changing tines and tuning the piano every show. I'll be keeping this one out on the road!

  • Eldar is killer :)

  • Well.. They had to come up with somehting that could compare to the Nord stage.. and they did it with style!

  • I was considering a yamaha cp5 but this thing beat the yamaha out. It's too easy to use and when you have a stable of keyboard players at church who have to figure thing out on the fly this guy is it.

  • you just built a REALLY beautiful piece of art. Waaaant it :D

  • muito bom

  • I actually saw one of these in a music and spent 45 minutes playing it.

  • A very tempting instrument. One thing they didn't mention is the classic Yamaha CP models. Does the SV emulate those?

  • ok, maybe im being dense but does this thing not have any internal speakers at all as I bought one and can only use my headfones. do i need to buy external speakers and if so what ones are best?

  • @bemaniac2 You need to get an external keyboard amp like a behringer etc.

  • @bemaniac2 maybe you can conect it to ur laptop with the USB. Or buy an external USB sound card for 150$ or 200$.So you can record ti with a software and listne thru your laptop.I have berhinguer monitors conected to my usd external soudcard and my keyboard connected to the soundcard.Dats it.GO to any music store with the manual adn explain the situation tehy will help u.But you may need a good pair of monitors.

  • I dont really play this style of instrument or music, but I played around with this in the store. I couldn't stop playing it. Its the best sounding rhodes, clav, wurlitzer emulation I have ever heard in my life. I dont think anything can top it. The action on the keys is amazing too. If you're into this style of music I highly recommend it over anything else you're thinking of getting.

  • Your wish... Has been granted. EPIC!

  • The strings kinda suck though...everything esle is great, i've played it and i love it.

  • I went to my local Guitar Center today to check one of these out, and they didn't even know what it was!! They never heard of it. Way to be on top of new products, Guitar Center!

  • @pianoman1969 well it is a guitar centre

  • Me personally, there isn't a keyboard out there that sounds like the real thing. So instead of spending a crap-load of money, I just went and got a Casio Privia PX-130 for $500. I use it with my Jazz Duo and I'm happy. I'm sure that'll sound pretty shocking to most of you guys. :)

  • @ryancangri : I agree. Top-of-the-line boards come fairly close to what they're trying to emulate but no cigar. Nothing like the real thing. Plus, I don't have unlimited funds to throw at high-end boards that only come close. I'm not so shocked you went with the Casio PX-130. I know a Youtuber that uses a Casio WK3800 (or is it the WK3000) that has a decent jazz organ sound. He says people think he's playing a B3! The WK3000 series are very easy on the pocketbook.

  • @auggiedoggy Well I use a casio 3300 and the truth is it has like 3 clavinets taht sound cool and electric piano snths too.I dont like the acoustic piano tho and IM missing a good rhodes.Jazz organ is decent u're right.i was thinking of buying a motif xs but I dont think the fifference is taht huge.Maybe this one..not sure

  • @ryancangri

I love my Casio Priva PX-330 and it has a great piano sound and weighted feel especially for such a relatively inexpensive instrument, but when you buy and instrument like this one, you're not looking just for piano sounds. For stage performance of various styles of music over several decades, you need more than just a good piano sound.

  • @Yeargdribble Absolutely right. I actually switched over to software instruments, only because deep down, my soul cries out for a better-sounding piano sound. So I went and got me a 13" Macbook Pro ($1,300), New York Concert Grand from Native Instruments ($100), and a Studiologic Sl 990 Pro ($450), and I am super satisfied. $1,850 total for great, realistic sounds.

  • awesome, got the Korg Spring 2010 catalogue this morning!

  • awesome, got the Korg Spring 2010 catalogue this morning!

  • At first glance it may look like just a stage keyboard, but the fact that it has MIDI IN, OUT & THRU, plus a "Local Off" button right on the front panel mean it is absolutely intended for use with MIDI and as a controller keyboard if one wishes. Not to mention the fact that it's MIDI capabilities are discussed in the users manual.

  • Owned it for a few weeks and sent it back. KILLER Rhodes sounds no doubt, but they need to work out a few issues with MIDI, volume and amp hiss . I'm holding out for the SV-2 :)

  • @keyboardkomuso No offense but this is definitely not a midi keyboard.

  • I wonder if it will have the doors sound?

  • Can anyone tell me if you can layer sounds with this thing... man i love it, that would be my only question bout it. This thing looks soo good, put it on the new Ultimate Apex stand in red and you doing urself some visual favours too!!

  • Design is great. Sound is light & crappy. Nord Electro 3 is far better.

  • i heard no sounds from the organ in this video that impressed me at all

  • Just fiddled with one of these yesterday for a few minutes at guitar center! Incredible sound and very, very accessible hardware-only interface, as the video points out. I also rather liked the look of it, including the show-offy visible vacuum tube. =D

  • I saw neil evans and his band soul live play, they opened for derek trucks in DC, great performance

  • Everyone is so used to overly processed pianos Korg, Yamaha, Roland, then when we hear a keyboard that sounds like the real thing (nord stage) we start bashing. Just wait, once nord sells out and makes a cookie cutter piano/string patch..its OVERRR!!

  • The narrator has such a sleeeaaazy voice :P

  • @CrocodileRocker I'd describe it rather as a "classic, laid back" voice.

  • What if you have split mode, and more than 60 mellotron samples, more than 360 sample to load in, and the best drawbar organ in the world? You have to buy an Nord Electro 3...

  • @Airswinger

The best drawbar organ actually is a real HAMMOND B3/C3/A100 with a real Leslie speaker.

  • I played one in a music store today. Didn't expect much, but I'm really impressed with it. Just kept playing.. and I love the knobs. You can change the sound in many ways within a second by turning a knob. That's a big plus for me.

  • it remminded me of megaman at 1:15

  • I'm looking at this VS the Nord Electro. I liked the interface for the rhodes pianos much better on the Korg but sorry, can't really do without the drawbars for a true organ feel. Might just be worth it for that overdrive and pre-amp sound modulation though. $2K for a GREAT sounding rhodes is worth it.

Nord has a good sounding rhodes and a great drawbar organ, will be a tough call.

  • I work at Guitar Center and this thing is absolutely the most amazing keyboard I have played in years. hands down.

  • Have you played a real rhodes, wurli or hammond/leslie?

  • I just Played one of these and if u know anything about what you are talking about this kills the nord . The tube just ............ pshha u gotta here it

  • Could not agree more. I am so glad I invested in this (88 key model especially) over the Nord. It was worth every penny. Korg all the way. @Mystr0183

  • @Mystr0183 Ya I know what you mean! I just sat down at it last night in a music store and was bustin' out funky rhythms in no time. The E piano is possibly the best sound they have on board.

  • OK, all you dudes in the 'keys- world' know,..... I have a question (coming from an up-coming keyboardist, prior jazz saxophonist...yes, I am a real musician). Can I get something just as good for less than $2000.00 ? Will it be waterproof (beer proof) so I can take it to the gig?

I have a 1949 Hammond M1 (the real thing!), except no one will help me carry it to the gig!

PS - In the mean time, where do I find good download (free) sounds for my Mac GarageBand and my shit-ass M-Audio Axiom 49?

  • @saxophonedave

Nord Electro 3 is a good option.

  • Die beischendste Forführung aller Zeiten.

Vor lauter gequatsche kann man keinen Ton des Instrumentas richtig Hören.

    A.L. Weber

  • Comment removed

  • Falls short of the nord electro.

  • played it at NAMM..sounded great in the headphones..but..sure as hell hard to play B3 palm slides, etc weighted piano keys without tearing up your hands :( Clav parts sounded great, just felt really word to play.

  • Everytime I get overly excited thinking these modern things are going to sound cool. Disappointed again. As always, it sounds plastic with no character. Maybe I have the problem. Anyway, instead of investing thousands trying to re-create vintage sound for the sake of reliability and ease of transportation, perhaps someone should invest the same amount of time and effort into improving the reliability of the REAL vintage instruments and provide innovative solutions to the transportation problems?

  • @electricfunk Agree!

  • @electricfunk

if neal evans says it sounds good, and you don't think so, you're wrong.

  • I wonder how much Neal Evans got paid to do this promotion? ;)

  • Oruprankstaz:

Jesus, dude, get a grip. I actually happened to be back in the same store again, and it turns out it was going direct into a Mackie mixer with some fairly high quality monitors. And it still didn't sound worth $1,000.

Besides, Hartkes are for douchebag blues lawyers with active pickups.

("Cheryl?" Seriously? Where does that even come from? Nice ethnic spelling of "Prankstaz," by the way.)

  • LOL -- now you delete all the comments on your page that say "Fuck off and die, faggot" and other such comments.

    "Who, me? I ain't trollin'. I'm a hardcore PRANKSTA."

  • awesome

  • I have one since 1 week and it's amazing!!!

You will get the feel while playing...

Even with the synthisounds, you think you play the originals with the RX-Noises.

I sold my NORD Electro... :-))

  • @Freakwichtel

LMAO it's not even out yet? What country are you in?

  • @ORUPRANKSTAZ

Germany, it's in the stores since 15.December 09

  • but if your a keyboard collecter and you grew up on those styles of vintage keyboards, its like a must have i would think.

  • Hm, I wonder how much it'll be to create your own Korg Synthesizer.

I want to create one exactly like the X50, but metallic black (Like the shiny black colour on the BOSS ME 70 Guitar FX pedal) but with dark red outlining and ALL black keys. :P

  • okay, that's it...I want one.

  • 1777€

  • Im impressed

  • they made this, because the retro is the new fashion. its useless.

  • SOULIVE!!

  • Well...What is so amazing about this keyboard? It's just another similar instrument to many others on the market. There is no ultimate keyboard for pianists. Sorry to say that...

  • It's the most amazing piano I ever heard. Too bad it's so expensive, else I'd buy it instantly! It's totally amazing!

  • how much it costs?????????

  • I wish I had a voice like the narrator.

  • @LemonInYourEye - voiceover guy sounds like he's goin for a "soul man brutha" kind of vibe voice. authoritative yet smooooth...like he should be selling brandy or something.

  • @LemonInYourEye Me too, haha!

  • @LemonInYourEye I have it

  • @LemonInYourEye Ha Ha Thats okay .....!!!!

  • @LemonInYourEye You would be surprised how a good mic can make your voice sounds so much more "full of details" (especially when using it close to your mouth)... I'm a radio host, and I also produce music for years, I can tell you :P... that guy seems to have a natural voice... but many radio host doesn't really have that voice when you meet them for real :)

  • In my real world experience some of the the Korg SV1 patches sounds more like a video game (unreal)... The Hammond XK1, has piano and electric piano patches that sound more realistic.

    It's also $500 cheaper ;)

  • it could be useful if you are a piano first player. however most of the guys i know myself included need something that does more than pianos.(synths, pads, etc) plus 2k for it is pricey.

  • it looks amazing, but its quite a lot of money :(

  • Yes, it kicks ass. BUT...Remember the GEM Pro mega 3?

  • FUCK ME HARD

It looks so nice! I'm not planning on replacing my Nord Stage anytime soon though.

  • Played - loved it. Finally Korg makes a piano with a very decent piano sample! FINALLY!!! The software editor is a good feature. I'm looking forward to putting this piano through some work out.

  • SV-1 has a very good piano! It's like a stage piano with some bonuses, like amazing electric pianos, decent organ, very good strings, amp and good editing capabilities. I think the piano sound is definitely one of the best on market right now. Give Korg some time and they might give Nord a good competition..

  • this is your opinion. for me the piano sound is not better then from a motif or a phantom. its to steril and not realistic. its not natural. rhodes pianos are ok. but nothing special. organs sucks. so you pay 2000€ for a handful rhodespianos and thats it. if you change the sounds, you allways have to turn off the effects. and 8 instant-access presets are not enough. and you need perfect speakers. tryed it at home with the same speaker, i use the nord stage and it sounded realy bad.

  • The piano is very grand piano alike. Like one of the Steinways on our local music store. Very sharp. I like it... And the pianos in Nord Stage are too stuffy. Especially from the low and high ends. And I rather take too sharp than too stuffy. The strings are also good. Organs are usable.

This is like combining Nord Stage and Nord Electro with lower price than Stage. Some things are better some worse. You can't always get everything. Especially when talking about keyboards.

  • Comment removed

  • Yea. I'm definitely getting one of these. I'm just not sure when. I'd love to wait some time for the prices to go down and then buy it. Yet then I'm buying it closer to the SV-2 release. That totally sucks! 8D

  • Ive played this at a near by guitar center. All and I do mean All of the sounds sound like a million bucks.

  • true

  • I don't trust anyone named Eldar. And thoses spacers are disgusting! Cool instrument though.

  • are you crazy!? you can't trust a guy that just tore open a time whole with that dirty rhodes tone bringin back Chick Corea's Return Forever? and the spacers in Neal evans ears shouldn't concern you... they don't come with the keyboard :-P lol

  • OH MY GOD

    Saving up right now.

  • Follow up to my comment 2 months later: No, I'm not saving up for this. For one thing, its $2K, which is pretty ridiculous, especially considering that the sounds on this thing are not actually all that great. The pianos are okay, the electric piano sounds are cool but I already have decent Rhodes/Wurli patches on my keyboard. The Clav sounds are pretty lifeless and essentially sound all the same. (continued)

  • The Hammond B-3 sounds are too similar to have much variety; the Farfisa and Vox combo organ sounds are abysmal at BEST. The string synth patches are all right but the Mellotron sound is pretty shitty. It's more like a bandpassed string patch.

All in all, if this keyboard was $500, it would be an AWESOME keyboard. That being said, it's 4 TIMES that amount, so I'll just pass on that.

At least I just saved $2K.

(the sounds are good in the vid, but try it out in a store first)

  • @aquasloth

Because we all know that you're listening through a pair of Genelacs or better yet, in this case, a really damn good Hartke amp, right? :) So it probably sounds JUST like it would on stage..

  • I'm hearing this at home on regular speakers and I tried it out in a store using a Roland keyboard amp. On the video, it sounds awesome. In the store, not so much, especially considering the price. Again, if it was $500, awesome keyboard. $2,000, not really worth it.

You got ahead and buy a $2K keyboard and go around stirring shit up on YouTube. The comments on your user page suggest you do this often.

  • I know, Cheryl.

Wait a minute.. did you just say that you played it through a ROLAND amp? Well THERE's your problem, aquadouche/Cheryl! That's a rookie mistake... I've only heard like ONE Roland amp actually sound good. Your local FatarCenter needs to upgrade.Though I think there's one thing we can BOTH agree on... Where the hell are my waterfall keys?!? WTF Korg?!?

(Note: Skeletor is 1000x cooler than you'll ever be, aquadouche.)

  • @aquasloth wait this kb is 2g's?
