lol if you say the palm pre is better than the nexus one you should just shoot yourself in the head, palm pre looks like a childrens toy its garbage, nexus one is one of the best android phones it can overclock to 1.xghz it has flash for the web browser and more
@beratalbania yes, yes, the nexus one is a better phone than the Palm Pre Plus. But i have actually owned a Palm pre plus, and it was wondrous. The OS is beautiful, and everything works fine. Sadly i didnt get very good reception, and the 3rd party app support is not there yet. I now have an HTC Desire, which i love aswell. But i really did enjoy webOS and the Palm pre. Dont say it is a childrens toy and it is garbage, because it is definitely not.
@TheTech15 You're referring to overclocking. You "root" the software (the OS). You "overclock" the hardware (the processor). Not that big of a deal, but if you want to sound like you know what you're talking about, you should have your nomenclature down.
I was having both on my hands once to see 1-to-1 comparison, the Palm-pre is a very nice executive's phone like that, and Nexus one is a lighted toy sold near beaches !!! (pls. pardon me hard core fans !!), contrast to what this guy is showing, the internet was faster on the Pre, compared to nexus one, but amazingly Nexus One's OS can open applications faster than Palm Pre, a new OS can do this job !!!, Palm and Windows Mobile need to learn something from them, blackberry storm cant make it !!!!
this is the WORST smartphone/celphone I ever had. why? because: 1. it is so cumbersome to make a call. 2. when you are in a call progress it is easy to hit the disconnect button on the screen by your ears and cheek. 3. It often makes an accidental call. 4. Bluetooth does not support file sharing. 5. Music player very basic 6. I do not like the address book. 7. poor battery life 8. heats up easily during a call 9. no pc sync 10. No yahoo, skype IM apps. I hated this phone a lot. Poorly designed.
@torrasque2007 My Dad has an iphone 3gs 32gig,I've had a good amount of time with his 3gs and gotta tell ya it was a pain in the ass,the 3gs is horrendously heavy phone with slippery edges that make holding the phone a nightmare especially for sweaty palms such as mine, the UI of the 3gs is very primitive i mean theres no difference between iphones UI and some very old cellphones' UI i've used, but of course the capacitive screen kinda makes for it,when it comes to multitasking iphone 3gs is xx
@JoWhKeJo Expensive? The Pre Plus (and Pixi Plus) are free on now! Go to HP's website and you'll see it. to them. HP bought Palm- and they'll promote it. Caveat: You need to sign a 2-year contract with Verizon or AT&T. Also, if you have huge hands like I do the Pre will take a few weeks to get used to. And yes, battery life stinks. But the benefits of webOS & the Pre+ itself, at least for me, far outweigh all that. I've had my Pre Plus for 3 months now. I wouldn't take any other phone.
@siberslug1 There isn't even a limit in the first place - it all comes down to how much memory is free. When you are running low on memory, the system will automatically close the process that is lowest on the stack. This is why you shouldn't have to worry about free memory and task killers- they're just not needed.
haha @lavapker.. i actually like the Kin one by verizon. (it is amazing!!!) you should check it out. ughh i still have the versa unfortunately.... i hope to use my upgrade soon. the keyboard does suck on the versa.. esp. when you use it horionally- grr. anyway.. kin one just came out- its amazing!!
@becksy6 Agreed. It gets even faster when you get into overclocking and such. Even when it's running stock (500 MHz most of the time, 600 MHz with games) it's not a slow phone. I don't get why people don't pay attention to webOS. Sigh...
@SeBakasam Palm WebOS is one of the best so far....I also agree that HTC phones are becoming very popular but there just not as good as palm :)
I really cant wait to see what palm do next, I hope they give this phone a better keyboard cuz it is a tad bit cramped.....But thats its only flawd :)
@becksy6 Agreed. HTC makes solid hardware but Android just isn't non-geek friendly yet. Even with FroYo. But webOS is simple as it gets. Once you learn the gestures (15 minutes, maybe?) you're good to go. But I agree, the keyboard is a tad cramped, but honestly the small screen on the Pre bothers me a lot more. An iPhone-sized screen would be perfect. That and the crappy battery life are my only complaints about my Pre Plus. I love this phone. Can't wait to see what Palm has up it's sleeve :)
@SeBakasam For those who are too ungeeky to understand Android I honestly suggest the iPhone, but for most people Android is definitely the better OS. I'm not so sure where to put webOS though, I guess it's a valid choice for smart and dumb people.
wow. ok. so you must be really bias. considering the fact that you royally screwed up the text on the nexus, and were more accurate on the pre plus, and you call it a draw?
IPHoNE IS KING !! It can multi task and use animated backgrounds once jailbroken!!!!
150,000 apps plus another 100,000 jailbroken apps makes iPhone unstopable and the 4G will break all sales records in June.. Be ready your lil r2d2 phones can't leep ip with PERFECTION.. You can make a dozen HTC droids .. But there's only ONE iPhone hahahahhahaha faggots!
@prophetjinn the new htc incredible is a so called droid phone... so is the motorola droid and the htc droid incredible one... at least thats what the verizons web site says
the palm pre was alittle bit slower, cuz it only had 2/5 connection bars compared to 3/4 on the nexus. And the battery on the palm was almost completely dried in this test wich has a very huge impact on performance.
before doing any speed comparisons, make sure all the devices are fully charged with at least 4/5 connection bars.
@siberslug1 Yea, seriously. Get your facts straight before saying something like a "5 app limit"... there is no software limit, and the Plus ran like 50 apps in at least one test I know of.
@ilovekevasmoothies dude i have the same phone.. im getting the pre in like a week! cant wait!! versa is ok.. keyboard sucks though lol pre is gonna smoke that son of a bitch though haha
Palm is running on wifi and nexus one running on network only. At the first browser test. If you look closely to the 3G icon the upload/download icon are blinking. :)
Palm: so close but so far! I'm on a centro right now but I'm probably going to switch to android when my contract's up :(. I'm crossing my fingers that palm will catch up with their hardware soon.
one time i was at the pond with my pre and was tossing stones and browsing on th pre at he same ime. i mistookthe pre for a pebble and sadly neve saw it again. *sniffle*
WOW see, i'm a fan of the nexus one but the palm pre kicked ass!(except for the internet).you were extremely bias to the google nexus one. it completely failed in the typing test and in the multitasking and apps too. and the nexus one seems to be overly complicated too, so stop siding with the nexus one, cuz its not THE PERFECT PHONE!
u could root the nexus one and runs palm web os on the n1. only problemis the screen emullator on the n1 will be 3.1 diagonally like the pre and if u strech it out its all pixelltated
No he really isnt iphone bias, he jus admits its a good phone, that doesnt make him a freaking apple fan boy. My droid prolly owns the iphone in the balls, but thats not saying the iphone sucks.
All you dumb ass palm pre fans on here, this fucking idiot NEVER HAD WIFI ON. LOL!!!! The nexus one loads pages faster on 3G even while your phone has wifi on. This comparison isn't even close. ANDROID is much better and faster.
omg i have the palm pre plus and i loaded the site at the same time he did and mine loaded up in less than 13 seconds so its somethin wrong with the pre he has that isnt a good at all makes the pre look extra slow when it isnt at all. Point blank the os on the pre is much better than android in my eyes. And the web is very fast on my pre so idk whats wrong with dudes and mine only had 2 bars of signal and loaded much faster than his. Whats the problem with the pre u have?
Clearly, the network speed is much faster with T-Mobile in his area. They both loaded the same site within a few seconds of each other over WiFi. Jon needs to get a clue.
I love how he neglects to say how full flash is coming to the pre in 1-3 weeks from the release of this video when that happens the pres browser is going to top event the iphones in my opinion.
the keyboard on my lg xenon (gr500) is really good, but the on-screen keyboard is too small, however. The touch screen wont respond to crap and has (at least) 10 cracks in the screen
Hold out for the Nexus One if you can, it's coming to Verizon Wireless on May 17th. I just spoke with a customer service rep from my local corporate store.
prolly your network area. in some places, 3g is faster than in other areas. then again if you tested a nexus one in your area it might or might not be the same speed.
i own a pre (rooted) and for me the feature is speed, although i really like my pre, it has a second or two delay when opening any card. Perhaps is b/c i am the A-type person at times and can be very impatient.
You never had Nexus One on Wi-Fi ! And the touch buttons works perfect every time. You only need to use them as real buttons. You tap too quick. Do it more slowly.
Your speed tests are absolute shit. They're meaningless...
right as you touched the screen to begin the 3g speed test the Verizon phone had 0 (zero) bars. and you know that Verizon doesn't pick up well where you shoot these videos, yet you continue to do them ...
That is why you should completely ignore the 3G speed tests. He tends not to do many of them but when he does you don't have to watch them. Pay more attention to the Wi-Fi speed tests they are more accurate in explaining. Don't trash John for what you don't know or can't realize your self
I should be a long time subscriber to all his videos and know what the fuck he does/doesn't do on a regular basis in order to make a comment on JUST ONE of this guys videos, RIGHT?
Wrong, dickface.
I'm looking for a phone.
i do a search.
i watch a video.
i see something that isn't accurate
If i fucking feel like making a comment; i make that fucking comment...
Coming from an iPhone(3yrs), to the N1... and its an Amazing phone. Hardware & software, it all works great together. Waited to find a phone that wouldn't have to upgraded in a year to a better one.
Something worth noting as well is the Touchstone dock feature on the Palm Pre. The magnetic dock is a huge convenience and Palm handles docking really well. If you get a phone call or make a phone call while the Pre is on the Touchstone charger it will automatically set the phone in speaker phone mode. Palm has a knack for neat little conveniences like this, such as the dedicated toggle switch on top of the Pre that puts the phone into silent mode.
These are the two best phones on the market today. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I prefer webOS over Android also, but the Nexus One clearly has better hardware.
Unresposive screen and buttons ..lag when going into landscape mode..
When my contract is up , I will be taking advantage the 30 day return policy..and trying lots of smart phones...I got burned with the BB Storm.. and it wont happen again.
The only thing for sure is that I will only use Verizon.
@xxmaticxx yes it does. it deals with how the phone handles the 3g. While this isn't nearly as fair without them being on the same network, it is fairly necessary.
@xxmaticxx Umm yes it does! If you are going to use that phone you will experience the speeds you see him showing you. If he was to use solely wifi it would be false advertising. Becuase, are you going to have wifi every time you access the internet on your phone? I think not!
...the title of this video reads "Nexus 1 v. Palm Pre+" NOT "Nexus 1 (T-Mo) v. Pre+ (Verizon)".
Either you're doing a comparison of PHONES or 3G speeds but u don't do a comparison of 2 diff phones on 2 diff networks. the comparison doesn't mean anything. Think about it...
Not really do you own one you would know. Besides sprint gives you more for less like navigation beside the ram and hard drive the phone is not better that middle button(on the pre) has some cool stuff you can do to it....enable led notifications
but performance wise its capable of 4-5 times more multitasking which is ridiculous
for serious smartphone users who need a better stat sheet the plus is the way to go but for regular people they don't need to pay extra for the coverage, sound quality, or performance theyd rather have the more practical simple things like led notifications and cheaper service
Nexus one has the edge in downloading speed because snapdragon has a special CPU core for network communication so the actual CPU can render in peace while the network core downloads.
u can do more on the iphone ,the iphone can multitask , the app store on iphone is better & the iphone has itunes wooo Twice the nexus didnt rotate the screen when turned clockwise it is fail so hehehehe
When he was doing the first test the Wifi vs Wifi one, the nexus one was not connected to a wifi network (top bar shows no wifi signal, like normal), and it still performed faster! wow
Haha if you turn on Transcribe Audio, then When he says "There are a lot of really good smart phones" It says "There's a lot of really good smart BOMBS" xD
And again Jon. Does the Nexus One have a word processor? Clearly you showed an e-mail program 'cause it had a "To" box and a "Send" button. Also why get into the program off screen? Did Google/YouTube send you their phone for free? Knowing this would help in preventing bias as Consumer Reports does. Why not talk 'bout the included software? What's the blasted secret! How 'bout a three-way with the iPhone 3GS???
On android phones you can have as many Apps you want open, on that feature that shows the open Apps it shows up to six and shows recently closed ones too
Maybe it's because your friends are not so "up to date". If I'm not wrong, Google didn't paid any money to advertise Nexus One, it was spread through word of mouth. If your schoolmates haven't heard of the N1, you can't really blame the device, you just have to face the fact that they are not so up to date. And besides, it's only been 1 month, give N1 a break.
A partner showed his audience the Nexus One that he got from YouTube. YouTube didn't ask them to make a video, they give it for free. It's up to you if you want to make a video and get it sponsored by Google.

Hold out for the Nexus One if you can, it's coming to Verizon Wireless on May 17th. I just spoke with a customer service rep from my local corporate store.

man i swear i pushed my palm pre techno buffalo and my loaded at the same time as the nexus haha i dont get it
ska8eeazy123 1 year ago
prolly your network area. in some places, 3g is faster than in other areas. then again if you tested a nexus one in your area it might or might not be the same speed.
RunTheRockers 1 year ago
i own a pre (rooted) and for me the feature is speed, although i really like my pre, it has a second or two delay when opening any card.

They're meaningless...
right as you touched the screen to begin the 3g speed test the Verizon phone had 0 (zero) bars. and you know that Verizon doesn't pick up well where you shoot these videos, yet you continue to do them ...
xxmaticxx 1 year ago

THE END.

Coming from an iPhone(3yrs), to the N1... and its an Amazing phone. Hardware & software, it all works great together. Waited to find a phone that wouldn't have to upgraded in a year to a better one.
chiballer20 1 year ago
Something worth noting as well is the Touchstone dock feature on the Palm Pre. The magnetic dock is a huge convenience and Palm handles docking really well. If you get a phone call or make a phone call while the Pre is on the Touchstone charger it will automatically set the phone in speaker phone mode. Palm has a knack for neat little conveniences like this, such as the dedicated toggle switch on top of the Pre that puts the phone into silent mode.
cool8man 1 year ago
These are the two best phones on the market today. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I prefer webOS over Android also, but the Nexus One clearly has better hardware.
cool8man 1 year ago 3
Jon you never put the Nexus One on WiFi. You could see the 3G transferring icon, but bluetooth was one..
JELC1297 1 year ago
That Nexus reminds me of my BB Storm...

Seems a bit biased don't you think? All videos with the Pre you can tell he is against the phone O_o
JoWhKeJo 1 year ago 2
i completely agree. i noticed that in the iphone v. pre+ video.
he does tests on 3G services, which has nothing to do with the phones...
xxmaticxx 1 year ago
@xxmaticxx yes it does. it deals with how the phone handles the 3g. While this isn't nearly as fair without them being on the same network, it is fairly necessary.
emr1028 1 year ago
@xxmaticxx Umm yes it does! If you are going to use that phone you will experience the speeds you see him showing you. If he was to use solely wifi it would be false advertising. Becuase, are you going to have wifi every time you access the internet on your phone? I think not!
staud8469 1 year ago
you're argument is so damn lame and weak...
...the title of this video reads "Nexus 1 v.
Think about it...
xxmaticxx 1 year ago
you shouldn't stop comparing the palm pre i think sprint service is faster and i like the pre better then the plus
ska8eeazy123 1 year ago
why???
Verizon has superior service, and pre plus, better than pre in any angle..
TheGogetassj 1 year ago
Not really do you own one you would know. Besides sprint gives you more for less like navigation beside the ram and hard drive the phone is not better that middle button(on the pre) has some cool stuff you can do to it....enable led notifications
ska8eeazy123 1 year ago
but performance wise its capable of 4-5 times more multitasking which is ridiculous
for serious smartphone users who need a better stat sheet the plus is the way to go but for regular people they don't need to pay extra for the coverage, sound quality, or performance theyd rather have the more practical simple things like led notifications and cheaper service

Nexus one has the edge in downloading speed because snapdragon has a special CPU core for network communication so the actual CPU can render in peace while the network core downloads.

It never rotates the screen when turned clockwise. Only when turned conter-clockwise.
That's the default setting, I guess it can be changed (after all, this is not iPhone OS :D).

Xploder270 1 year ago
And again Jon. Does the Nexus One have a word processor? Clearly you showed an e-mail program 'cause it had a "To" box and a "Send" button. Also why get into the program off screen? Did Google/YouTube send you their phone for free? Knowing this would help in preventing bias as Consumer Reports does. Why not talk 'bout the included software? What's the blasted secret! How 'bout a three-way with the iPhone 3GS???

Based on proc speed...
The Droid is better..
the ARM Cortex would beat Qualcomm @ 900mhz vs 1ghz
The droid has the ability to Overclock its ARM coretex but of course risk is involve...
If you are super rich ... just get a Droid and clock it to 1.3Ghz [The most recent released clock script]
Kills the droids faster but hey... when it dies.. its already time for those rich ass to change a newer gadget

the iPhone lost to the Google phone and iPhone is old news
IIYOYOII17 1 year ago
Eh I wouldn't say that.
No one at my school, besides me, has even heard of the Nexus One.
The iPhone is well known and sells are steady. Whether you hate or love apple, they make some pretty good products.
Also, while the software may be nice, the Nexus one looks like it was made 5 years ago.

This is youtube.
The @ thing, does not work.
I am on a dell computer right now.
I am not a "fanboy"
Look at the clothes you are wearing right now, where did you buy them? You must be a fanboy of whereever you bought them, right?
According to your logic, you cannot like anything without being a "fanboy."
stevenwhite2010 1 year ago
Maybe it's because your friends are not so "up to date". If I'm not wrong, Google didn't paid any money to advertise Nexus One, it was spread through word of mouth. If your schoolmates haven't heard of the N1, you can't really blame the device, you just have to face the fact that they are not so up to date. And besides, it's only been 1 month, give N1 a break.
Vacantsy 1 year ago
There were a lot of Youtube videos where Google gave Nexus One's to Youtubers in return for a video that mentions it.
kockgunner 1 year ago
A partner showed his audience the Nexus One that he got from YouTube. YouTube didn't ask them to make a video, they give it for free. It's up to you if you want to make a video and get it sponsored by Google.
