  • @sfujimoto14 For your feeble mind's sake, I do hope you realize the irony in your previous response; either that, or you must be severly "retarted".

  • This is retarded, i thought long jump was supposed to be landed... Whats the record for landed or what is the event called?

  • @theendlesssuffering you sir, are retarted...

  • dude i can beat this guy on kinect any day

  • ололо гы

  • HOLY FUCK he almost jumped out of the OLYMPIC PIT..i can't even get 2/3 in on a hs one

  • @rhserhtstht3453 They should try... XD

  • dude was a beast

  • ...without a doubt 7.50 m / 8.00 m with no technique...if he learns how to jump he can really fly!

  • @rhserhtstht3453 do you mean " can jump better THAN this"

  • how tall was he and how much did he weigh? I'm trying to compare long and triple jumpers to high jumpers in terms of size

  • Damn. Carl Lewis is like, "What the FUCK! I should have got this." hahaha. this is awesome.

  • @rhserhtstht3453 i can jump better than this

  • how can they tell exactly where he landed. the sand doesnt really leave a distinct accurate mark.

  • damn, he almost jumped out of the sand pit!

  • i do long jump in track right now;

and his wife is the head coach of track at my school !(:

we want him to be our jump coach so bad thooo !

  • he almost jumped out of the sand box^^

  • he also jump 1 inch behind the line!! find the whole video you will see it they show his foot on the line

  • Mike powell is the best

  • I agree he is the best at long jump but not at the 1500m.

  • 1:03 Classic! :'-)

  • I know that speed is a factor in how far you jump, along with height, but i wonder what would happen is Usain Bolt were to do this event

  • i wonder too...

  • His speed wouldn't help that much, maybe 7m at a guess.

  • He Is Very Tall Aswell Big Legshoot i recon

  • He would make false attempt always, because he is to fast. :D

  • do you know how many ppl should be doing lj just because of their pure speed... asafa, mo greene, BEN JOHNSON, justin gatlin, shawn crawford and many more... it would be amazing if they all maximized their tallent!!!

  • I think that he is to far behind on his technique... but he would not suck :P

  • who are you to judge an Olympian on his technique...

  • I said "I think" and it's not about powell, about bolt doing the long jump, its my opinion, and thats my right

  • alright. for us to have a formal argument, you need to re-write your last statement in a clearer form of English

  • Or, we could drop it, since it's nothing.

  • well thats just grand

  • @dd4dash

nothing would happen because usain will not be able to produce the speed into the air

  • @dd4dash usain bolt was a long jumper.

  • @dd4dash I guess he would break a leg when landing. lol.

  • @dd4dash

he would break 9 m easily

  • @dd4dash Mike Powell said himself that Usain Bolt would pass 9m after he had some training

  • @FiftyPercentRussian I believe that if someone trained hard enough, they could beat any record, pushing the limits of the human body.

  • @dd4dash mike powell who is now a coach said that he could coach Usain Bolt to jump over 9m

  • how many units? :P

  • Glad an American beat the record of another American.

  • he's using hitch-kick , so frinkin awesome

  • comment me back

    looking for friends lg

  • his daughter was in my class last year

  • I have a question: if a jumper jumps past the world record but ends up losing (that is someone else later in the competition jumped farther), does the first jumper get the world record officially recorded (for those few minutes until it is broken by the eventual winner of the competition)?

  • I believe so. In the current Olympics, for example, the American 4x100 swimming relay team set a world record in the preliminaries. That night, the Americans officially broke the world record again. Not a perfect analogy, but yes the jumper would've held the world record for a few minutes.

  • lol i see you played that game to when you were little

  • he beat the greatest record in sports(when it was achieved)

  • Simply outstanding jump!

  • If I remember correctly, Powell posted this WR jump while Lewis was putting together the best long jump series in history. I believe that Lewis had 4 (out of 6 jumps in the series) measured at over 28 feet and still lost to Powell.

  • he also most jumped the whole thing lol

  • lol that was crazy. he was running in the air!!

  • thats my coach..mr mike powell

  • hold da kaeft...

  • holy crap, he just FLEW

  • cool

  • Wow, that was a perfect landing. :) If you watch it, he lands with his feet way far out in front of him and then uses his feet to pull himself forward after the landing, so that his butt and head don't touch the sand until after the feet. :) Brilliant... pulling forward with his feet on landing to keep the rest of him from touching the sand earlier.

  • ma ne lik uopste nije skocio

  • he didnt get much height for a jump of that distance

  • for long jump you dont go for height. its better to go at a low angle to maximize distance.

  • to maximize the distance u go at a 45º angle

  • any relation to asafa?

  • no, he is american and asafa is jamaican and no they have no relation

  • 29'4.25''

  • amazing

  • 太NB勒

  • dayam

  • he almost jumped out of the pit

  • one of the best world records around. a superlative jump.

  • man he got surprised when he found out he broke the record

  • I'd never seen this before. Thanks for posting it. (Carl Lewis doesn't look too happy about it, does he?)

  • sick

  • uhh.. the jump was 8.95 meters.
