Here in Australia we only run 1/4 and nothing else the tracks have never been shortened due to the death of the American driver and why should they be. Surely the answer wasn't to shorten the drag length rather lengthen the tracks, due to one very very unfortunate accident they alter rules to suit. Great event.

An ADRL Pro Mod TT weighs 400-500# more than a Pro Import car. There are minimum weight rules set by the organizations. Add 500# to the Titan car and see what happens. If people want to compare apples to apples, it's 1,500 hp vs. 3,000 hp. I build JDM race cars for a living.

@77camaro whats the point in running a promod in the quarter mile? i have been around promods all my life and if they are going to move around, its gonna be in the before halftrack, and as a driver you have to be on your game on the tree unlike in the 1/4 when you have another 660 to catch them. And its easier on parts.. so why run them in the 1/4 genius

Although making a 2J go that fast is obviously impressive, what the "import crowd" always fails to address when touting import vs. domestic stats, is weight. An ADRL Pro Mod TT weighs 400-500# more than a Pro Import car. There are minimum weight rules set by the organizations. Add 500# to the Titan car and see what happens. If people want to compare apples to apples, it's 1,500 hp vs. 3,000 hp. I build JDM race cars for a living.

You can tell that rplende dosen't know the first thing about ADRL drag racing. So sir, I must tell you that the record has been broken many times since Jason made that run. I think the current Pro/Extreme record is 3.72 seconds in the 1/8th mile at well over 207 mph. How do I know? Well, I happen to be a Founding Member of the ADRL. So if any of you want to talk shit about drag racing, I can talk it right back at ya.

The clock was wrong that was about 5.8 or 6.8 not 3.8! Check it out on the timer on the bottom of the youtube screen. The race starts at about 20 second mark and finishes somewhere around 26.

It's 3.8 because they run the eigth, not the quarter. If you notice they let up well before the quarter, and their parachutes are open shortly after.

win, it doesn't matter weather the engine is a 4cyl 6cyl 8cyl, when it comes to 6 and under time slips in the 1/4 mile, the V8 is the breadwinner, im not saying that a 4 or 6 cyl cant have a timeslip under 6 seconds, im saying that when it comes down to the ammount of power needed to attain those timeslips, a V8 and up are the only engines with the displacement thats the most reasonable. AND im not a american musscle person, i love imports, my favorite car is a supra so that comment isn't biased

look man, i know that and i also know that if you want do something you need power and torque. a 4 or 6 zyl engine with max 4000ccm can't give full potencial like 7, 8, 9, or 10L V8 engines. learn somethinng about thermodynamical processes. I have Supra so what fastest Supra have 1600rwhp+ and doing 6seconds. a most powerful V8 have over 13000ccm and power bigger than 8000 rwhp+ with 3second time!!!

Tzr... that really is an uneducated comment about 'any car can go that fast on an 1/8th mile'. The majority of acceleration in drag racing is over by the 1/8th mile, a top fuel dragster will typically be at 250mph and will only gain another 70mph by the 1/4 mile. The hard part is overcoming the air resistance once the car is at the higher speed. Get yourself to a drag strip, enjoy the power, noise and smell, plus bone up on the facts and data.

Do some research into racing history and find that V8's have been extremely successful circuit engines, as much as any other configuration. And 2 secs in a drag race is a huge margin. Wrong. I just went to an IHRA event where Pro Mod was running 1/4 mile like they should be and there were NO apparent reasons that they should be shutting off at half track. Every car either went straight down the track or got out of shape at 100 feet and clicked it off.....

That, also wear and tear. These cars get so hot even in the 8th mile. I mean, when you get 800+ cubic inches, we are talking about dinner plate pistons. We had the al-anabi race team test-n-tune today because St. Louis is a terrible track in general. 3 cars, for6 hours. They had their newest car they picked up from bickle yesterday made it's first run, topeka is in for a suprise guys, it's a tight looking car.

It's OBVIOUSLY an 1/8th mile, it's only doing 198 Mph at the end... a Nitro fueller does around 335 Mph pulling a sub 4 second pass on a 1/4 mile.

Uh no. It's a 1/4 track but they were racing 1/8th. You can see them pull the chute well before the boards, and the boards were lit with times before they passed them. Also top fuel/funny car that runs 4s in the quarter trap over 300.
