I hope you don't take offense. You should learn to trap and actually make skill shots. Your game will improve many fold. BTW, the noise when holding the right flipper is due to a mushroomed or flattened coil stop. Replace it, and the sleeve while in there, and the noise and flipper action will be much better.
I don't know if you have played Target Alpha, but on my particular game, the flippers have such a small slope, its practically impossible to trap the ball. Instead, I have learned to aim right when the ball touches the flipper. As you can see in the video, I did a pretty swell job aiming and knocking the targets down, and getting the extra ball. With this technique, i have gotten a high score of 185,000 points.
I've had my Target Alpha since 1978. It's mostly worked great over the years. It's down right now because the score motor keeps running. Back to moving those endless switches.
Thanks for the vid! I bought a Target Alpha in February, rebuilt the flippers, changed out the rubber, and did a ton of cleaning. Thought I was almost ready to level and finally play the thing! But now it looks like I'll have to check my match unit - I suspected it froze up and now I know, since my outlane lights don't alternate back and forth like yours do. ah well, back to work!
