PEOPLE, I just bought a 2012 Genesis Coupe 2.0T. Nice car, however, there is a smell of gas inside the cabin. Last night I woke up with chest pain. I googled it and found some others having the same issue with the smell of gas inside the cabin. Can you please message me if you're having the same problem.
Is its top speed electronically limited to 149mph? Because with 306hp you'd think it could go a bit quicker than that. The Cobalt SS has about 270hp and is limited to 155mph I believe.
Nice vid but you could have touched a bit more on the 4wd version coming out next year. It features a 3.8 Litre turbo V6 putting out 480hp@5600RPM and has run flat tires and a cd player stock.

I own a Genesis coupe 3.8 track and let me tell you it is a fun to car to drive it has a lot of spirit it is always like push me I can do this I can do that I love driving it my friend owns a camaro rs and my car feels way faster and more fun.

For the price of the 3.8 Track you can get a Mustang GT, Camaro SS, Challenger R/T, or a fully optioned V6 Mustang or Camaro all of which are faster and perform better. My Dad got my Stepmom one of these and I honestly don't like it. It's not good looking, and I don't like driving it that much. It does have an amazing warranty and the fit and finish is great, but it's ugly and underperforms for the price. It makes a great chick car if that's what your after.
Speed3=higher skidpad, higher slalom speed, higher top end, same to 60 in reality.....all for much less money. Rear wheel drive is great but not when the chassis cant break .87 on the skid pad.....a lowly stock civic SI breaks .90

There's quite a difference in exchange rate between Japan and the USA. And given Toyota's past track record of overpricing literally everything (seriously, $34,000 for a Celica?) I dare say they're not going to match that target price, even on an entry level model. My estimates for that car start at $25,000 and go way up from there.
Is better than an european coupe like the Audi TT (front wheel drive or "quattro" but basically is a VW Golf/Rabbit chassis with many oversteering) and much more cheap but still not at the same level of a Nissan 370Z.
I've personally found the Genesis Coupe weirdly the odd man out in almost every regard. Not enough V6 power stock to really hang w/ Muscles cars, underpowered with it's I-4s to hang w/ most compacts. Handling is acceptable but nothing special, even w/ the track pack. Styling isn't Muscle car handsome, or Japanese crisp, or Euro slick. It's not even as well thought out as the last Tiburon. I want to like it, but I can find better to like and want w/o trying hard.

Rocky, I figured it out. You have the 3.8l V6 engine which is about 28K if you haggle.
There is a 4.6l V-8 which has 375bhp and that retails for $41,269 That is where the confusion started. I called my salesperson back at the dealer this morning and he explained it to me. Now that I know that's a 6 putting up those numbers and it's under $30K, that is quite impressive. Hopefully you can understand why I was disappointed before thinking it was an 8 @ 40K.

"wait but their sedan has a 390hp V8!!" (genesis 4dr) Matt @ Sterling dealer said "Oh, well if you get the V8 coupe it's about 40K" Now the msrp on the sedan is 39 and change loaded...
So... THat's were I was basing my $40K figure on. (believe it or not you can get a GT for $24 then 15 in rouche) Anyhow is yours a 6?

I just am not a fan of the SRT-10 and it's higher price tag.. The 97 GTS had an amazing paint job. Especially for an American car which they are notorious for orange peel city... (the one I drove was blue with white rally stripes)

I'll give it to you its not a Rouche(but come on most cars arent) and you will spend more like 55K for that, if brand-new. The Genesis is a fun car to have, Its not a high-end sports car, by any means, but its a good car if you have the money to spend on a brand-new every day work car were you don't have far to drive but you can still get enjoyment out of what I like to call a classy-sporty car.

Good style, good equipment, rear wheels drive, I can drift with it, Good entry level performance, enough power from both V6 and 2.0 I-4, good fuel economy, great tuning platform (you have to see the V6 Supercharged, and with a twin turbo must be a beast!!!), excellent price.....should I continue?? I really like this car. Nice to see Hyundai giving this market a shot, and actually making a good first attempt. Yes it has it's flaws, but i's their first shot. Give them a break. I like the styling and performance too. Nothing amazing, but still looks and performs in a way you can have fun and enjoy it. I hope they continue this because I would love to see this car refined into a real sports car competitor for the market. Also I look forward to the aftermarket support for this car too.

If Hyundai can make this in such a sort amount of time give them about two to three years after they take this model and tweak it and fix it up to perform even better than what it already does now. This is just the beginning of a wonderful car in the making. I personally believe this car will one day over throw the 370z and G37 possibly, just got to wait and see...
That isn't all bad. I'd say it bounces at around 149-150. The 370z has a governed speed of 155. You'd probably see a better ts on a dyno though. Aerodynamics has some part to play. I dont know the redline top speed of this car since in order to get it you would have to test in a closed enviroment. In all there is three different top speeds.

When I walked up on the gen at the lot the first thing i noticed were those awful body gaps, especially on the hood. the salesman popped the hood and fiddled with the screw loaded springs and said that a fine tuning would reduce the hood gaps making them symmetrical on both sides. that just shows a real lack of consistent quality control! i admit the koreans have come a long way

i saw and drove the genesis (not the track pack trim) and was not that impressed. on paper u think that hyundai really hit one outta the park but it's little things that remind u that it's a hyundai. the materials are getting a lot better though fit and finish are still lacking. the exhaust and engine note sounds cheap. with performance figures aside, it's hard to compare the genesis to its competitors since build quality is not an issue at factories other than hyundai.

For the price of the 3.8 Track you can get a Mustang GT, Camaro SS, Challenger R/T, or a fully optioned V6 Mustang or Camaro all of which are faster and perform better. My Dad got my Stepmom one of these and I honestly don't like it. It's not good looking, and I don't like driving it that much. It does have an amazing warranty and the fit and finish is great, but it's ugly and underperforms for the price. It makes a great chick car if that's what your after.

Speed3=higher skidpad, higher slalom speed, higher top end, same to 60 in reality.....all for much less money. Rear wheel drive is great but not when the chassis cant break .87 on the skid pad.....a lowly stock civic SI breaks .90

There's quite a difference in exchange rate between Japan and the USA. And given Toyota's past track record of overpricing literally everything (seriously, $34,000 for a Celica?) I dare say they're not going to match that target price, even on an entry level model. My estimates for that car start at $25,000 and go way up from there.

I've personally found the Genesis Coupe weirdly the odd man out in almost every regard. Not enough V6 power stock to really hang w/ Muscles cars, underpowered with it's I-4s to hang w/ most compacts. Handling is acceptable but nothing special, even w/ the track pack. Styling isn't Muscle car handsome, or Japanese crisp, or Euro slick. It's not even as well thought out as the last Tiburon. I want to like it, but I can find better to like and want w/o trying hard.

Actually I compared it to a 1997 Dodge Viper GTS (which will wipe it's ass with an M6) I was comparing the COST of an M^ as compared to other vehicles in it's performance index. I have a cheap ass Subaru WRX STi and I laugh my ass off knowing the M6 I just lunched cost as much as FOUR of my car... laughable dude... so ignorant.

Rocky, I figured it out. You have the 3.8l V6 engine which is about 28K if you haggle.
There is a 4.6l V-8 which has 375bhp and that retails for $41,269 That is where the confusion started. I called my salesperson back at the dealer this morning and he explained it to me. Now that I know that's a 6 putting up those numbers and it's under $30K, that is quite impressive. Hopefully you can understand why I was disappointed before thinking it was an 8 @ 40K.

@ROCKY Well I was at the dealer (buying my 2011 sonata) and I saw the coupe. I thought holy crap that is sweet!! but they said "That's just a V6" the sticker was 31 and change. "wait but their sedan has a 390hp V8!!" (genesis 4dr) Matt @ Sterling dealer said "Oh, well if you get the V8 coupe it's about 40K" Now the msrp on the sedan is 39 and change loaded...
So... THat's were I was basing my $40K figure on. (believe it or not you can get a GT for $24 then 15 in rouche) Anyhow is yours a 6?

I just am not a fan of the SRT-10 and it's higher price tag.. The 97 GTS had an amazing paint job. Especially for an American car which they are notorious for orange peel city... (the one I drove was blue with white rally stripes)
They took a lot of the track quality feel out of the SRT-10. It's too docile. The cockpit was really cramped too. off topic, sorry

I just get aggrivated by people who say "yeah but it's still a hyundai" There's a renault shit box that does 0-60 in 3.6 seconds... I mean really... Can't anyone just acknowledge a good vehicle and not get all brand whoreish about it.. The only "brand" that I am biased on is BMW. I'll give it to you its not a Rouche(but come on most cars arent) and you will spend more like 55K for that, if brand-new. The Genesis is a fun car to have, Its not a high-end sports car, by any means, but its a good car if you have the money to spend on a brand-new every day work car were you don't have far to drive but you can still get enjoyment out of what I like to call a classy-sporty car.

Look I carry ZERO bias with cars. I am a slave to the numbers PERIOD. The emblem on the hood is irrelevent. (unless it's a stallion) So that being said, I think for $40K to buy this thing, you should be fetching a WELL under 5sec 0-60. I am disgusted by the 5.7sec time. if you're indeed NOT biased, you'd know that numbers are inacurrate as different reviewing company post different numbers, example, the ZR1 gets a slew of 0-60 times : 3.2s, 3.5s, 3.7s....and btw Subaru can afford to do their beautiful engine treatments because they have the shittiest interiors...sacrificing luxury for power..

If this was Twin Turbo'd the GT-R better watch out, it probably cost 15-20k to add Good turbos + other mods. Add that to the 30k price and you have a killer on your hands that costs 30k less.

Good style, good equipment, rear wheels drive, I can drift with it, Good entry level performance, enough power from both V6 and 2.0 I-4, good fuel economy, great tuning platform (you have to see the V6 Supercharged, and with a twin turbo must be a beast!!!), excellent price.....should I continue?? This car is great! Hyundai is getting better and better. This is just the first generation, I really would like to see the next generation of Genesis Coupe.

@wtrdogg20 hey dont bag on american muscle, man. these car's cant be compared. the american cars may as well have more grip around corners (supprisingly) and have the quickest 0-60 time. however they dont really feel like true blooded sports cars, and the hyundai does. its like comparing a GTI to a STI. the sti may be faster, but normally, a person would have more fun in the GTI due to its predictable and balanced chassis.

Hyundai is rated 4th out of their listed manufacturers, which is higher than Honda, BMW, and other highly "touted" manufacturers. I really like this car. Nice to see Hyundai giving this market a shot, and actually making a good first attempt. Yes it has it's flaws, but i's their first shot. Give them a break. I like the styling and performance too. Nothing amazing, but still looks and performs in a way you can have fun and enjoy it. I hope they continue this because I would love to see this car refined into a real sports car competitor for the market. Also I look forward to the aftermarket support for this car too.

If Hyundai can make this in such a sort amount of time give them about two to three years after they take this model and tweak it and fix it up to perform even better than what it already does now. This is just the beginning of a wonderful car in the making. I personally believe this car will one day over throw the 370z and G37 possibly, just got to wait and see...

That isn't all bad. I'd say it bounces at around 149-150. The 370z has a governed speed of 155. You'd probably see a better ts on a dyno though. Aerodynamics has some part to play. I dont know the redline top speed of this car since in order to get it you would have to test in a closed enviroment. In all there is three different top speeds.
1.) governed speeds- Companies usually limit the speed of the car.
2.) Redline speeds- true speed of the car
3.) Drag limited- aerodynamic speed.

No it can't. It's governed at 118 mph. Only the speedometer goes that high. If you went by the speedometer, a geo metro could hit 140 as well.

I checked out the J car and I found no problems with body parts lining up so if this is your only complaint then u must be real ainle and probably would pick apart a BMW. All this winning over stupid crap that doesn't matter after u put a few 1000 miles on any car and they start falling out of alignment so enjoy it and tear them up because they end up in the bone yard at the end.

In consumerism, everything's about opinion! There is hardly anything objective about car buying. When I walked up on the gen at the lot the first thing i noticed were those awful body gaps, especially on the hood. the salesman popped the hood and fiddled with the screw loaded springs and said that a fine tuning would reduce the hood gaps making them symmetrical on both sides. that just shows a real lack of consistent quality control! i admit the koreans have come a long way

i saw and drove the genesis (not the track pack trim) and was not that impressed. on paper u think that hyundai really hit one outta the park but it's little things that remind u that it's a hyundai. the materials are getting a lot better though fit and finish are still lacking. the exhaust and engine note sounds cheap. with performance figures aside, it's hard to compare the genesis to its competitors since build quality is not an issue at factories other than hyundai.

Check what i told dragonblood. its the car ur gonna be drivin! in the segment of relatively affordable japanese cars the gen is truly sportier than civic but when u ask what ur gettin everything becomes clear. u dont have 2 know much bout cars to make informed decisions.ex, look@body panel gaps as part of the index of quality control. the gen coupe has bad gaps. the subaru Sti cost a fortune &feel pretty cheap 2 when u consider every tactile interface. hondas are spot in every dpt, mechanically2

hyundai g coupe is around $30,000 with navigation,,brembo brakes, v6 306 hp with leather interior, sunroof, etc offering 6 years 60000 miles full warranty. it is a great deal not to be missed.

A srt4 went 0-60 at around 5.8-6 secs. thing is the car was so lightweight and cheap it was a horribly geat deal.

Only the srt4 hasnt been made for years because they are JUNK, they fell apart before the warrantees ran out. The srt4 cant handle a turn, cant put the power to the pavement, rattles and crunches like a rattle trap. The neon is a cheap, cheap, crap car, you cant polish a turd, no matter ho much power it has.

The srt4 was a cheap piece of crap, anyone who has owned the neon knows that. We have had 3, never again.

At least the genesis (by the way I dont have one) is a completely different car, not even close to the tiburon.
SRT4 was junked after it was found to be a turd, a rattletrap, and not worth $500.
