  • If not 'genius', then certainly 'excellent' and 'masterful'.

  • I wish people could enjoy a vaguely interesting performance without recourse to "she's a genius," "she's a goddess," etc. She is not. She is talented, wrote and performed some decent pieces, but please: this is not genius. Reserve the word for Beethoven or Goethe, not this.

  • @MarcusCMarcellus I agree with you that such superlatives are off-putting, but...define genius. Personally, I find some of her work impenetrable but it gives me pause to think. A fresh, innovative album like 'Mister Heartbreak' stands alone, I've never heard another work quite like it.

  • Thank you , for this original, imaginative, Fantastic, music, art piece, oral story, whatever- Thank you!

  • I loved the CD then, and I love the track now. It's the only music you could ever listen to on a white beach, under a shady straw umbrella.

  • Nice to hear the twisted womens mind, I love it!

  • GREATNESS thank you.

  • Entrancing, fascinating, sublime....

  • im constanly amazed at the idiot comments that fully reveal the ignorance of the ones making them...why the helll would someone IGNORANT to what Laurie is all about...even STUMBLE in to this clip...????

the last part of this...with the vocoder thing...is beyond music...it's so friggin sublime...i pity the oafs that cant really hear it...

  • im constanly amazed at the idiot comments that fully reveal the ignorance of the ones making them...why the helll would someone IGNORANT to what Laurie is all about...even STUMBLE in to this clip...????

  • this is awful.

  • voici voilla la la ouh voici le langage de l'amour . nanananahou voici le langage de l'amour. comme ci comme ca voici voila la la la hou voici le langage de l'amour. voici le langage de mon cœur. I love her. She is as good as bjork
  • pretentious BS

  • trippy

  • sorry not to hate but..this isn't a song..she's just speaking..lol

  • @throbulator427 I agree because my opinion is based upon what I'm used to listening as music, but what is really a song? Earlier blues wasn't considered music because it was so different, why is this different?

  • @throbulator427 music is not necessarly a song, and theatre or prose can be musical sometimes.

  • i love this song

  • I used to listen to Laurie back in 81/82 when I was 14ish. There was a radio show in the uk called "Walters Weekly" on a Saturday afternoon that I and my mother would listen to and he would play things like this and Peter Finch, Diamanda Gallas, Blancmange, Marc and the Mambas etc. and have pieces about Ivor Cutler and the Toy Rep doing "Double Indemnity" and so on. All the kids have now is us.

  • Once in a VERY long while, a TRUE Artist comes along. Laurie IS that Artist.

  • wtfunk

  • Brilliant!!!!!!!!!

  • Laurie Anderson is fantastic but why does it take 30 seconds before we even hear her?

  • @adiah

We appreciated reading the introduction preceding her performance. It induces well deserved anticipation.

  • she looks like an undead from WoW.

  • I used to think Laurie was woman but she isnt

She is the snake, a snake with legs.

  • Soxs and scales, what a costume!

  • if you look up performance artist, laurie probably wikied it. god i love her :)

  • Спасибо за клип.

  • @sdingo123 En ik maar denken dat de voertaal Engels is.

  • Afther all I found one of my favorite movies back, tnx again Stockhausen.

  • she's the real queen

  • BRRRRRILLIANT

  • Laurie Anderson ist eine von den ganz großen Künstlerinnen. Sie ist verzaubernd. Ihre Musik bedeutet mir sehr viel und berührt mich tief.

  • "..and they were not very smart, but they were happy as clams." :D "...and afterwards she was bored with the man, because no matter what happened he was always as happy as a clam." :D

  • brilliant song. an amazing, exotic-eccentric version of the adam & eve myth ;)

  • this song is so beautiful.

Is this the story of the garden of Eden ?

    ..and so ..

WE got into the boat and left the Island..

but we never stayed anywhere long ..

and so spread out humanity... ??

  • It is performance art. It is what you interpret it to be. But, yes. I'll accept that. :)

  • I used to tell this story to my oldest daughter, before she was born. She's 23 now and still remembers it.

  • Keep them coming! Laurie has to be one of the best public speakers ever. Nice dress too, her figure isn't quite full enough to pull it off. Captivating performance none the less.

    Ruby

    Xox

  • Amazing story teller too. It never occurred to me years ago that she was singing in French, ecoute ecoute ecoute........ fantastic
