  • Hey! I go to St. Pius X, a church in the diocese of Dallas. I remember that letter. Too bad 52% of Catholics voted against life.

  • It is also too bad the Bishops in the Catholic Church refuse to ex-communicate those politicians who vote in favor of abortion.

  • WEll this guy has a good point. And is quite true. 5stars! I am gona subscribe to you!

  • I really enjoyed this video.

  • Thank you.

  • also the words you were searching for when you said pro abortionist..was pro choice

  • your like a really bad cartoon character

  • As far as your constitutional question propo....are you saying that if Roe vs Wade is overturned and states would then take up the matter you would no longer be up in arms about the issue of abortion? If it came to be a state issue what would be the impact & what would be your plan to care for the children?

  • You are correct if Roe vs Wade is overturn and goes back to the states, I would no longer have a constitutional issue over it. I would do my best to make sure Texas does not approve it. However if Texas does approve it, I will not say it is not constitutional or illegal, just sinful. To which the faith God awaits.

  • Propo....it is sinfull now. It'll be sinfull if State law. That is what my point is...why can't you let people decide for themselves....I thought you guys were for less government intervention? No one is forced into abortion in our country. Those who choose it will have to face their God. The Bishops made this a political issue by choosing it as the only Catholic issue they actively speak out on. To say to deny communion to John Kerry was an abomination of power and the height of hypocracy.

  • You wrote "their God." Isn't "their God" our God?

The sin of abortion is not constitutional and should not be decided by a federal court. That sin is a state issue per the 10th amendment to the disregarded constitution.

The Bishops had every right to speak as they did but you want to dilute it by incorporating all sins. Which they do, however all sins are not pivotal in this election as abortion is. If it takes politics to save a life, then so be it.

  • Propo...in case you hadn't noticed there are other religions in the US now that don't consider our God, God. Your reply that if it takes politics to save a life, then so be it reflects the republican party of the last decade....ignore American law....the end justifies the means. You've annointed yourselves.

  • All religions worship the same one God, just differently.

  • Christians and Judaism worship the same God...there are several others that don't.

  • Just because several others do not worship the same God, that does not negate the existence of one God. There are some who think the earth is flat, so does that mean we should say the earth is round and flat?

  • The earth has proven to not be flat. There is no proof of the only God..just diferent faiths.

  • Are you sure you are Catholic?

  • Yeah propo I am. Do you support the death penalty? Have you ever used birth control in your relationships/marriage? Have you ever had sex for reasons other than making babies? Have you ever been divorced? If so let me know so I can question your faith too.

  • An answer of "yes" to any of your questions will not negate my knowing there is only one God as any Christian and Catholic should be aware of. A "yes" to any of those questions would result in display of violating Church teaching while not questioning the existence of one true God.

  • Propo...my beliefs aren't the beliefs of all Americans...that's what makes America special.

  • We must stop those who hurt the innocent unborn. God bless the Catholic church and God bless John McCain!

  • Rocky...Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush 2...20 years of conservative presidents...zero results on abortion. You've been used for political purposes. To overturn Roe vs wade a president must be ready for the cost of it meaning more taxes...is that something republicans are fond of?

I'm anti abortion also but refuse to vote on one issue. I believe we can virtually eliminate abortions with Roe vs Wade...but not with a no contraceptive or sex ed platform.

  • Propo...are you a Catholic or not?

  • Now come on, you know I am Roman Catholic, why do you keep asking what you already know?

  • Propo...I don't assume much. You go to Catholic schools too?

  • Yes, did you?

  • Propo..I went to Catholic schools K-10 and attended CCD 11-12. I was taught by nuns and priests..a wonderfull experience and a wonderfull education.

  • If the law was overturned today the country would have to be prepared to pay for the care of these children. To abolish abortion those of you who consider it to be our greatest need...better come up with a plan to take care of them.... and I've yet to see one of them. Since we aren't able to find homes for all the children we have in homes now...the plan would have to be drastic and costly. I don't mind, but those of you who've been screaming socialism......

  • So to you it is okay to murder these babies so not to pass the cost of caring for them upon society? I think your extensive Catholic education failed you.

  • I'm saying propo that before you start repealing Roe vs. Wade you better have a way to take care of them. How many more children there will be, where they will live and how will they be cared for. Will there be tax incentives for adoption? In order to survive in the world on their own, free college? I'm asking this propo with all respect..I was adopted as an infant. We as a nation don't do enough now for adoption. This is not a simple issue and there are no simple solutions. Where's the plan?

  • You missed my point on Roe vs. Wade. That ruling was not constitutional and that issue belongs to the states to decide, not the federal government.

As for caring for the babies, would you like to ask the child first? Just go up to any person 30 years or younger and ask if they would have preferred to be aborted.

  • Propo...you avoided my question. What planning have any of you done to take on the children? Let's here some kind of proof that any of you have thought this issue through past "it's wrong". How many will there be, where will they live? What will the governments involvement be? These aren't smart ass questions my friend....I'm serious. This question is for all of you....

  • That question has nothing to do with the constitutionality of the issue which is the point of this video.

I think you too have avoided many of my questions.

  • Propo..when the bishops write a letter to us at election time telling us we must consider the Church's teachings when choosing who to vote for... and IGNORE other Catholic teachings that would also be applicable....it turned political. I believe you said if Catholics choose not to believe in ALL of their teachings they should find another religion...would that be for bishops too?

  • You would have to ask the Bishops that.

  • They are not ignoring all of the other teachings of the Church. They are simply stating that as important as all those other things are Life is more important. Life is sacred and should be protected.

  • NC...what about the death penalty? I've never heard a word about it at election time. The Pope said our invasion of Iraq was wrong saying "this war would be a defeat for humanity which could not be morally or legally justified". Where's one instance of a bishop speaking out against those who suppported those actions at election time? The Iraq war has killed over 100,000 people and driven 3 million from their homes? Life is sacred....all life. The bishops statement was to influence voting.

  • The dealth penalty cannot be compared to abortion. Abortion kills innocent children. I am not saying I supported the war or not. However, if you added up all of the people who have died in the last 5 to 10 wars our country has been involved in it would still not even be close to the over 50 million innocent children that have died through abortion in the last 35 years.

You are being typical in trying to change the subject. Abortion is wrong, it is a sin against God and humanity

  • NC I'm not changing the subject at all. The Catholic Church makes it known they value the sanctity of all life. Some choose to speak for the church saying one issue is greater than another when it comes to life...and that makes it political. I spoke of the Iraq war specifically..as the Pope was quite clear about it... but not a word came from my conservative Catholic friends or certain Bishops. Should there be those of you who should have communion withheld because of a vote for Bush?

  • NC...I've yet to see the Catholic Church come out with it's sin rankings. When they do..give me a call.

  • What is your phone number. In all that Catholic schooling you had were not taught about mortal and venial sins

  • Yeah I do propo...perhaps you might re-read what constitutes a mortal sin.

  • Are you catholic propo?

  • Propo...I don't blame the Catholic church at all...I blame the pope & certain bishops for speaking up only at election time...which makes the issue a political one. When the pope and these bishops start to refuse communion to those politicians who support the death penalty, use or support contraceptives, have sex with their spouses without the intent to have children or support divorce I'll agree that it's just a "Catholic" issue.

  • The Bishops are urging Catholic not to vote for pro-abortion politicians, so around election time is the proper time to bring it up.

  • As I said propo...where's the urging of Catholics not to vote for politicians who support the death penalty, divorce or contraceptive use?

  • The issue of abortion is purely about the protection of innocent life. The other topics you mention are not related.

  • Propo...the issue of abortion is related to the other issues...they are all Catholic teachings/beliefs. Some, for political reasons, single out abortion while ignoring the others.

  • Then perhaps when you attend church this Sunday you may want to ask your priest.

  • I have discussed this issue with my priests propo. They're uncomfortable about it too.

  • What do you mean "too?"

  • Come on propo you know what I mean by "two"....it means also.

  • I was not making reference to any typo as I make many of them myself.

  • Propo...I was taught compassion, respect and concern for my brother by those who dedicated their lives to those beliefs. The amount of money I make is a blessing from God and I will always have a hand out to help those less fortunate get back up.

I disagree with my religion on some issues just as I do with my wife....and I love them both.

  • USAGym...what about my question?

  • My bishops have failed to speak out on politicians who support contraceptives, divorce and the death penalty choosing to be cafeteria catholic bishops. Just like the bishop of St. Louis who in 2004 who said Kerry should not receive communion...these bishops are hoping for an influx of donations under the disguise of catholic rules.

  • USAGymnast...do you believe in contraceptives? Divorce? Death penalty?

  • I agree with you that the Catholic church is very clear on it's stance regarding contraceptives, divorce and also homosexuality ( I am not sure about the death penalty) but that does not make the bishops letters wrong.

  • Drben...the catholic church is also against the death penalty. My problem with the letters is that these bishops are silent about all the other issues because they would directly effect many in their congregations...to put it bluntly effect the churchs' income. The decision by these bishops as well as the one who in 2004 who said Kerry should not receive communion even though he is anti-abortion himself, I believe is money motivated too.

  • Your belief in money motivation is incorrect. Are you Catholic?

  • Jesuit & Bernadine nun taught k-12.

  • You are a nun?

  • propo...no I'm not a nun...I was taught by them.

  • Then back to the question, are you Catholic?

  • I said I love my religion...so yes I am...how about you propo?

  • Yes I too feel the same, can't you tell?

  • Are you a catholic propo?

  • wittumy, well I guess if the bishops wrote a letter saying that anyone who uses contraception, is pro choice, has had sex before marriage, believes in the death penalty or is gay should not take communion, there would just about be no congregation left. It seems like the church turns a blind eye to those issues. It does seem that it is only the abortion issue that gets raised. But I am not Catholic so I am ignorant of all the facts, it is just my impression.

  • "or is gay should not take communion"

Actually educate yourself more on the Church's teachings regarding homosexuality.

As far as contraception goes: any Catholic who knowingly violates the church's teachings thereby commit a mortal sin.

  • "any Catholic who knowingly violates the church's teachings thereby commit a mortal sin."

LOL! Dude are you catholic? Well cuz we have what we call the Catechism. And its there on how a sin is Mortal. lol if you violate a teaching of the Church does not necessarily mean Mortal Sin.

  • Yes I am Catholic and you obviously missed the most important point: if you KNOWINGLY - that is deliberately - commit an act that you know is WRONG, then you thereby commit a mortal sin.

    LOL @ yourself ;)

  • lol, remember the act has to be grave, with consent, and with full knowledge. The Church teaches that I should obey my parents, if my parents tell me to stop praying cuz they turned athiest would that mean I did Mortal Sin cuz I disobeyed them? Lol we have what we call venial sin. Are you familiar with Deontological Acts? If I deliberately steal food cuz I am starving does that mean I did Mortal Sin? Don't think so. I know it fully that stealing is wrong. Dude go ask your priest.

  • And how does that make me wrong, mister???

An intrinsic evil is something that is objectively wrong, something that is a grave matter: e.g. blasphemy, masturbation, etc..

Deliberately committing these would be mortal sin.

  • Masturbation is a mortal sin???

So does that mean Catholics don't masterbate or that you are all going to hell?

Not much of a choice they give you, is it?

  • That means you are to avoid it the best you can, if you fail, there is the sacrament of reconciliation.

  • what's the "sacrament of reconciliation"? do you do that in confession?

what happens if you died before this sacrament took place? do you go to hell then?

  • the Sacrament of reconciliation = penance = confession

If you die before confessing a mortal sein and attaining absolution, then you go to hell, yes

  • so you have to go and tell the priest you masterbated? do you have to give him the exact number or can it be just a ball park figure?

And don't you think it's a bit rough that you could go to hell just because you masterbated and didn't get a chance to confess before you died?

  • Confess to the best fo your knowledge.

    I don't think it's rough.

  • I was just looking at the list of mortal sins. They include:

Abortion, Anger, Blashemy, Adultery, Carousing,Jealousy, Drunkeness, sodomy

How long is the queue when you go to confession? I should imagine it would be out into the car park. How often should you confess?

  • Minimum rule is at least once a year, but normally everytime before you go to receive the Communion.

  • But what if you know you are going to die but there is no priest around? Can't you confess your sins straight to God?

  • There is a doctrine regarding baptism of desire/blood. I do not know whether that applies to Christians though.

The Christ gave the authority to firgive sins unto His Apostles: that's how He wanted it to be done.

  • I'm sorry, I don't understand. If I was a Catholic and I committed a mortal sin (let's say I got drunk), then during the evening I realised I was going to die and had no way of getting to a priest, then I would go to Hell? Isn't there anyway I could confess my sin straight to God to avoid that horrible fate?

  • Since you are not Catholic, why worry about it?

  • because maybe i want to become a Catholic or maybe I know someone who was a Catholic and died before they had a chance to confess. So can you give me an answer to the question please.

  • I doubt you want to become Catholic, btu neways:

1861 Mortal sin is a radical possibility of human freedom, as is love itself. It results in the loss of charity and the privation of sanctifying grace, that is, of the state of grace. If it is not redeemed by repentance and God's forgiveness, it causes exclusion from Christ's kingdom and the eternal death of hell, for our freedom has the power to make choices for ever, with no turning back.

  • However, although we can judge that an act is in itself a grave offense, we must entrust judgment of persons to the justice and mercy of God.

    (from the CCC)

  • I doubt that you know what is in my heart.

Thankyou for your answer. It does not mention confession to a priest but rather repentance. That is all I wanted to know.

  • God's forgiveness is granted through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Don't try to even twist the CCC. It explains everything in it.

  • How can I be trying to twist the CCC as I dont even know what it is. I was sincere with my question. I guess you are saying that the person I am worrying about who died before being able to confess has gone to Hell.

  • The CCC is the Cathecism of the Catholic Church: a document that contains the explanations of the Church's doctrines. (visit vatican(dot)va for the entire document)

As far as your friend is concerned: God is the only Judge. We can never know.

  • I will visit that website now, thankyou

  • ur welcome

    peace

  • And I sincerely thankyou for your patience

  • and I thank you for being sincere

  • Catholics for McCain!

  • I'm not Catholic and I'm against abortion.

  • The funny thing is, when Christians publically announce their political views, it's a bad thing, it's oppressive. But when the fake liberal Hollywood "Buddhists", the Unitarian Universalists and people like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton speak...their words are somehow more credible than an archbishop or a church father's views.

  • Interesting video man...

    Five Stars!

  • Told like it is. There are indeed many religions out there. All it takes is a little soul-searching. =)

    Happy trails, PB! ;)

  • It's dissapointing how many would so easily forsake their faith just for the sake of being told to do the "right" thing.

  • I'm surprised these "Catholics" who were upset with the letter were even in church to begin with.

  • I think we call them "cafeteria Catholics."

  • I heard that Voodoo is looking for pro-death converts. And now there's a new Sarkozy pin doll, for those who are both pro-death and anti-French.

  • It's about time the church took a stand. But Obama is morally wrong for other reasons. His whole economic policy is based on coveting the wealth of those who are better off. He is not about hope but jealousy, envy, covetousness, bitterness and hatred. He is jsut plain evil and bad for America.

  • True, and on top of that, Obama does not address the few hundred-thousand dollars the Rockefellers got this year for NOT GROWING CORN, or the one trillion dollars that go to corruption in the Federal government every year, or the fact that when the economy crashes, it's the CEOs who get help, so when he says "take the money from the wealthy," he really means "take the money from the high middle-class," who have done nothing to deserve having their money taken from them.
