Lifted Toyota Supra powered 4Runner

I have a nice '99, with 4WD and a 5-speed (perfect config) that I bought 2 years ago with just 90K on its clock (about 60K less than average). I TOO have young kids, and in this economy, can't afford to fix it any more than necessary. My friend wanted me to take it to Utah's "Maze," which is a tough haul, but I demurred, to his great disappointment (he didn't offer to split any damage). I can't afford to wreck it!

@yankee2yankee Don't be a pansy. Your 99 will do just fine on the maze trails. Took my 97 down there no problems. Fun trail. Great scenery and backbacking. Go do it.

@RockRacer1982 I back you 100% on that. I recently bought a 94 4runner and my mates are up me that I dont thrash it enough, one mate says you dont buy a 4wd to drive on dirt roads. So after reminding him that his is only a $500 daihatsu rocky and it done matter if he fucks it, i let him know that I have 4 kids and would like to keep my 4wd in tact as I cant afford to fix it!. Completely understand rockracer!

@bigbadbronco86 Seemed like it was plenty for everything I tried and wanted to do. 232 hp at 5600 rpm and 240 ft·lb at 4000 rpm at 5 PSI. I was running closer to 7-9 PSI IIRC. I6 motor.

He thought a V8, due to larger displacement, had more torque than an inline 6. Although, your number's are slightly off. The U.S. market, the 2JZ-GTE had 321hp and 352lb/ft of torque.

@FTORC1 Yeah a lot of idiot's assume V8's are best for torque when they are not.....My numbers are for the JDM 2JZ which uses smaller turbo's then the US spec 2JZ so it has less HP

People, take note. A "V" engine, the torque number typically is equal to or smaller than it's horsepower rating. An inline engine, the torque is usually equal to or higher than the horsepower. Torque, is what actually does the work.

Vortec 350 - 350hp @ 4600rpm 330lb/ft torque @ 2800rpm

Toyota 7M-GTE - 232 hp @ 5600rpm 254lb/ft torque @ 4000rpm (at 5psi)

@danjacob0422 Hydrolocked the motor and just happen to have one of these laying around. I not even going to mention how cheap we were able to get this done for. Much cheaper than putting in a rebuilt, underpowered 22RE back in. It was an amazing vehicle on and off road. Not many people can say that. You expect a ricer to be fast not a lifted old runner... Just saying

if you did some research, the factory 22RE on these trucks have 145lbft of torque. a 7M-GTE has much more than that ;)

@oaeproductions. dubvipers is correct that the 7M-GTE has a lot more. The torque specs of the 7M-GTE at 4000 rpm is 240 ft·lb. Quite a bit better than the stock motor.

This is 7M-GTE motor. It's hard to compare it to race cars or sports cars at this stage. But for what it is, it's AWESOME! I have everything needed to push over 500HP. That's when it would become real fun! This thing does get up and go though...

I am running an R151F turbo truck transmission and the matching 23 spline turbo transfer case with Marlin Crawler 4.7 gears. We had to mold a new bellhousing to mate up this motor with this tranny.
