Beside the video link I provided bellow which shows you a recent interview with Stiglitz on the world reserve currency and if you read the comments I explain how that's connected to military bases there is a book you can read by Michael Hudson (Kucinich's econ adv): "Super Imperialism" which explains how the current financial system works since 1971 ie. floating xchange rates etc. Now Obama is making small tweaks to this but if he blows it up we'll end up in bread lines.

Long story short: the US is not a democracy as you imagine but a plutocracy and the way it works is tied to imperial policies that go all the way back to WW2 and more recently 1971. To sustain that the US needs to control the pricing of crucial commodities in US$. A stable middle east is crucial to that because of petro dollars. Bush destabilized the middle east: Obama has to be careful. Soros, Stiglitz etc have ideas how to extricate ourselves from this finan system but not simple overnight

He is ending the war, I don't think he is allowed to end the occupation just like I doubt he will withdraw the troops from Japan or Germany. That's why I said that basing rights around the world are connected to the global financial system. If you want to change that you need an armed insurrection or something, I doubt that will happen via elections. No one in their right mind thought that Obama will change the world economy overnight more than Clinton tried, why, Clinton got no credit 4 that

EXACTLY, except for little details like Bush started the war in Iraq, Obama will withdraw all US forces by the end of 2011. empires are not light switches you can just flip. Gorbachev became head of the communist party in 1985, and he still had soviet troops in Afghanistan in 1988. every country has the leadership it deserves. at this point in time Obama is the best we can do, deal with it! if Nader or Kucinich was in the WH they would do exactly the same or end up shot like the Kennedys

Mike never mentions that if Kucinich thought all those bad things about Obama and the dems he would have stayed in the race as an independent like Nader. Kucinich not only dropped out but spoke at the dem conv and endorsed not Nader but Obama and the democratic party. why did he do that if Malloy is right?! why not just endorse Nader or McKinney and drop out of the democratic party altogether?!

BTW: The ONLY reason Clinton won the first time is because he pandered to the Liberal Base and then stabbed them in the back when he got into office. In the midterm we had the lowest voter turnout in modern history, neither base was motivated to vote for either Clinton or Dole.
