@Bananaakeyboard you have to let them take it for a while..they chew on it at the tip of their mouth and it is really hard and boney so its hard for the hook to penetrate..let it sit and then they take off thats when they have it

Yes. I removed the hook with a long 1/2 inch PVC pipe that has a verticle slit at the end. You feed that tube down the leader to the hook and just poke the hook out.

ive got the same rod its a shakespear conventional with a 7 to 8 foot rod that rod has takin a beatin ive fought 180 lb tarpon and a 7foot lemon shark and caught some monster gars and catfish on it ive got 80lb power pro(green) and aint never lost a fish

I would go to where the white river meets the mississippi. But if there's too many people there, there is just no way a fish can live to be 40-50 yrs. My parents bought a river queen in Gary indiana in the winter of '67 rode it to new orleans, saw no gator gar till they got to so. La. because it was cold...Use a two pound piece of Sashimi 12-18 in steel leader bigish treble hook or a muskie lure or fly the size of a bird. 50lb mono. I'll take you if you want $500 a day 1-2 people

You can rod and reel and release 7 or 8 big gar in the time it takes to bowfish and kill one. However, once gar get shot at in an area, it's virtually impossible to interest them with bait.
