UFO would be a huge band if the dumbasses at classic rock radio here in America played songs like this and Too Hot To Handle instead of overplaying shit like Boston (puke)
I just wanted to say to you AXEFLYERFV that i THANK YOU from my heart and ears for all the vvideo's you have posted with Michael and all the different bands and players he has worked with over his amazing career, He is in my top three Favorite Guitarist's, and i'm so glad to see all this mastery in it's finest form !!! As a musician and a guitar player I'm not a fan of keyboards in a band. I don't feel it's "pure". There are only a few exceptions and UFO is one of them.
@ruggbutt Essentially the same exact reasons I neglected bands like UFO and Rainbow when they were in their prime. It was more about Kiss, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Sabbath, NWOBHM and harder bands, and there was no shotage of acts, like there is now. Keyboards were not popular and lack of radio play contributed equally to depriving them of the popularity that they deserved, but they will go down as one of the greatest rock bands in history and their records will be selling for decades to come.
great tune...i still have this on red vinyl..33ep with cherry n rock bottom!..i saw u-f-o many years ago a few times..i even have the badge with''i saw ufo'' on it! lol fabulous times n memories!
Fav video EVER. Has some glitches but I can't stop playing this one. Indicative of an era. May it inspire 10,000 guitarists. Now where's that amp....?
UFO at their peak, and my favorite Michael Schenker solo. Too bad he left, lord only knows what could've been.. I did like the Michael Schenker Group though and UFO with Tonka.
@AXEFLYERFV actually type in (only you can rock me at talent show) and i have my video. i did better than i thought i would being my first "live" experience but anyhoo check it out
I distinctly remember the first time I heard UFO when I was a freshmen in H.S. in '76. From then on, UFO became a way to bond with someone and you knew you could trust their musical sensibilities. My best bud/man had a convertable Jeep back then we used to party and cruise the lakefront of Chicago( does anyone remember the "Hill") and UFO was reserved for our 'arrival" Everyone would flock to the jeep! Chicks,dudes,freaks,burnouts,...cops! was killed 2 months ago
I like this song but I really hate videos that use the studio recordings and make it look like a live performance when it clearly isn't , it shows a complete lack of originality take "Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the dark" for instance.
that happened when they reuninted too. MS said "if Phil keeps hitting me I will quit".......MS had to quit. Shame.
Pete and Phil look like softies in their stage gear but they are both, I was told, hard as fk and you'd have to be pretty dumb to pick a fight with either of them!!
I don't think Schenker was starting anything. He may have brought on some of the heat with the "craziness" in the end of UFO. But I think Phil should have known what was coming if he punched him in the stomach. I'm sure it happened more than once. Schenker can't be replaced as a guitar player.
He and Roth were easily the best hard rock lead guitar players of the 70's. To me, it's not even close.
mogg is the hard bastard....former boxer and very hady still today at 60! pete way was never hard/tough.....i have seen his girlfriends thump him and hes been in tears....get well soon anyway pete......liver damage - oooh
Well, I'm new here and I;m also 60...[almost], years old, but YES they could & STILL do lay down the rock, check out ..."Walk On Water"...UFO of coarse
Thanks for posting this and other classic vids. Just happened upon them on a boring Thurs. nigh. Saw these guys a few times back in the mid to late 70's and early 80's in Chicago and also saw MSG a few times also. These guys could definitely rock.
That white one started out as a Medallion V, made in 1971. It is one of the ones that were painted black/white. The one on the cover of RWND was a block marker.

I just looked at the UFO website abd it stated that Pete Way is suffering from liver disease and couldn't play on their next LP. Hoping for a speedy recovery for Mr.Way...
lol somebody said it was the greatest solo of all time. Great solo, but it's not the greatest of all time of course, and it's not even the greatest Michael solo of all time. It's great though!
im a kid 10 years old and i love this song and other 80's/70's rock music, i hate all kinds of music these days. i wish i grew up in the 80's. those who grew up in the 80's must be very lucky.
You are lucky you grew up with this music. I have had to put up with the crap music from the late 90's up until now. If I didn't have bands like UFO, Queen and Deep Purple to listen to I'd go mad.
100% agree. It is unbelieveable how HORRIBLE ALL music is (most movies, too). There are NO bands (the ones they call bands put out 1 album in the time it took Zep or the Beatles to do their entire catalog) and are seriously gay. Rap bullshit and 1 hit wonder shit bands of today. No talent, can't play solos (poor kids have no guitar heroes...only "Rock Band" video games) and there are no charismatic, cool rock stars. But we do have technology!! It killed creativity, though.
mon favori depuis 1976 i look in 199777 in live here Belgium forest national, thank ufo ,the legend continued, thank Michael scenhker je t'oublierai jamais my friend in memory (for you Michael)
Jesus! Great footage! Schenk was at his best in the early days, after bouncing back and forth from the Scorpians, and then ultimately, with MSG. This was a drinking athem in Chicago in mid 80s, and made everything better. I hope you all can remember where you were at the first time you heard this classic. Thank you!
outstanding, thanks for posting -- UFO were criminally underappreciated in the U.S. At least Mike McCready of Pearl Jam appreciates 'em...he plays in a UFO tribute band that does an annual benefit. Introduced a PJ fan to Lights Out because of that.
whoa whoa whoa!!! youve surpassed urself again axer!! jeeez....the CLASSIC line-up......SCHENKER and the bright white V - ICONIC....thnks SO much for posting ..never ever seen this !
hey Whitty321, my younger brother still has that poster in his house, he's had it since came out !schenker was the main reason he picked up the guitar!( a flying V i might add!)
Schenkers work for Rudy's band was pretty cool too. "Lovedrive" is a great riff. Or even "anytime" with Robin McAuley.Pete Way was the Way in Fastway, but left to start Waysted.Small little rock world.
Does anyone else remenber the huge UFO poster circa 1978/79/80? It only featured Schenker (no other band member) in the iconic "Schenker pose". I would imagine it would have be photographed at the same time as this promo video.
only you can rock me,comon baby....je l'écoute depuis 1976 ou 77 le live....MY REMEMBER...ldy and gentleman........HELLO CHICAGO....U.F.O.....
et la magfie de schenker et moog opèrais, for my the ufo live double lp is before and now the magicien du hard rock pur et dur, thank axel,6h to 10 h 30 in youtube, thank the guys for groyup zik rock of Amerika
God, look at Phil! This is a promo; imagine lip-synching to what you've recorded. But he's giving it his all, as if it's live. That's something to think about. Phil is turning 60 this year, and he still rocks like this. He deserves a big American salute!!!
Schenker has nothing to worry about from Van halen talent wise cause evh can't compose any melody 1/10th as good but halens has made a shipload of money over the years. I wish ms would catch a break and endup comfortable in his ole age. Maybe he should finally hook up with the stones!
I would kill for a full video of a show from that time period. Thanks AXEFLYERFV. You post the coolest stuff. Didn't even know this existed!

With the studio technology in 70's a band couldn't fake his talent. Today a piece of a software turns an idiot in a pop idol.
Whats the great band in 2008? Coldplay? Bulshit!!

im a kid 10 years old and i love this song and other 80's/70's rock music, i hate all kinds of music these days. i wish i grew up in the 80's. those who grew up in the 80's must be very lucky.

I think you're very lucky that you didn't fall into that hip hop,rap trash!

The 2008 UFO tour rocked like nothing else. Phil at 60 blew the doors off anything that is considered "competition". This guy is a FORCE!
NatureGirl62 3 years ago 3
Thank God I was growing up in this era & this is my music. I'd hate to be a kid today with all the shit music. UFO make the world rotate.

what a great sentiment herp.
this is my music too.
kids today wouldn't know a rock and roll song if it bit em in the ass.

I didn't grow up in this era but i would agree modern music sucks balls! Bands like UFO and Michael Schenker Group are legends

You are lucky you grew up with this music. I have had to put up with the crap music from the late 90's up until now. If I didn't have bands like UFO, Queen and Deep Purple to listen to I'd go mad.
Brianmay20 3 years ago 3
Good news....UFO are still around & you can step back at any time to listen to their art. Keep rocking, man!
1herp1 3 years ago 3

Schenkers work for Rudy's band was pretty cool too. "Lovedrive" is a great riff. Or even "anytime" with Robin McAuley.Pete Way was the Way in Fastway, but left to start Waysted.Small little rock world.

You from Twain Harte man? We used to go there party a lot when I was in high school (Sonora). Lived up on Big Hill Road.

Does anyone else remenber the huge UFO poster circa 1978/79/80? It only featured Schenker (no other band member) in the iconic "Schenker pose". I would imagine it would have be photographed at the same time as this promo video.
Whitty321 3 years ago
Impressive video. Schenker is a high-class player.

God, look at Phil! This is a promo; imagine lip-synching to what you've recorded. But he's giving it his all, as if it's live. That's something to think about. Phil is turning 60 this year, and he still rocks like this. He deserves a big American salute!!!

All this Schenker talk and no love for Pete Way? C'mon! The man made Sid Vicious look like a member of ABBA and he's still going 30 years on!
dwightfartschrute 3 years ago 3
Schenker has nothing to worry about from Van halen talent wise cause evh can't compose any melody 1/10th as good but halens has made a shipload of money over the years. I wish ms would catch a break and endup comfortable in his ole age. Maybe he should finally hook up with the stones!
