Aquacat26: It certainly sounds like it, doesn't it? The problem here is that the bearings have gone bad...VERY bad. Toshiba's GAS and GAX series of hard drives are known for this problem.

toshiba drive. they have MASSIVE problems with bearings going bad....we had 3 or 4 laptops come in with a bad hard drive that squealed like that.
