I'm not a historian but I would bet that there is slavery in the history of many Asian and Hispanic cultures as well. I really cannot put my finger on any one reason why blacks are consistently underachieving, but I am quite sure it has little-to-nothing to do with slavery - that's what's called a crutch or a cop-out.
