  • i hope the press look up that problem, so apple have to solve the 3gbs interface fault with EVI 1.7.

  • Trueee!!!!

  • LOL XD

  • I just wanted to add what this is not 7200rpm problem!

I have 320GB at 7200rpm in my macbookpro and no such sounds!

  • The problem affects configure-to-order 7200rpm 500GB ST9500420ASG drives (made by Seagate) with Apple-specific firmware 0006APM2.

  • It also affects 320GB versions as well. And also the same harddrive installed into, for instance, Mac minis.

  • I have the same freezing isseu from time to time with ST9500420AS HDD on my HP HDX 16 . Fortunately it's not happening frequently

  • its specifically the 500 GB drives

  • My hard drive actually beeped exactly the same time as one of the beeps in the clip. Ahh, what a beautiful symphony!

  • we have also been stricken by this horrible defect! aaaahhgH!!!

  • i have the same problem!!!!! mac mini and a seagate 7200 500GB disk

  • Same problem here, but no Mac. Click, Beep!!! More and more the more it has been powered on and the hotter the climate.

Drives me insane! Freeze & Beep is not normal behavior for any drive, no matter the cost. Its a defect. FIX IT SEAGATE. I just hope Apple can make them, their reason for not saying anything in public must be strictly connected to future legal action.

I have a Dell Latitude D830 notebook which I upgraded with the exact same drive as Apple uses.

    God help us CLICK BEEP

  • Same issue here. Beeps and computer lock ups for 30-40 seconds at a time. AppleCare support told me this is normal behavior and I shouldn't worry about it. If this is normal for a Mac then I'm going right back to the world of Microsoft Windows. :)

  • lol watch them charge u another 500 dollars to fix the problem or upgrade to a NEW... mac book to rip u off cuz they need money

  • Apple: "Normal behavior"

    (Bull SXXX)

  • great job apple really needs to take this issue seriously.

  • Same issue here on a mid 2009 17" MBP with the Seagate Momentus hard drive 7200.4 (ST9500420ASG)

  • I used that same exact drive to replace the 250GB HDD that came in my early 2008 15" MBP, about 3 months ago (as soon as the drive shipped). To be honest, I haven't noticed the problem yet at all. Is there something that normally triggers it, so I can test for it?

  • :(

    i'm getting a mbp with the 7200rpm drive....damn, i hope i don't get one of these.

    hope apple smartens up.

  • I have same problem.

I'll never buy any apple product again.

I paid over $3000 for this MBP...

  • Come on Apple ... This must be embarrassing!!!!

  • Here goes your 1000 internets, good sir.

PC fag here but I got this same harddrive new from one of the Apple Store suppliers.

Guess what, same freaking problem on Windows Se7en.

    Can't play ma games :'[

  • Yes,

I have the same big problem (click + beep + latency) with my new MacBook Pro (mid 2009) with Seagate Momentus hard drive 7200.4 (ST9500420ASG) shipped from Shanghai!

Natural behavior says Apple... and you, what do you think???

  • Seriously! Apple, wake up and admit the problem!

  • hahahaha. yep. exactly. so annoying.

Please Apple, fix this now, this isn't 'Normal Operating Condition,' that is, unless I bought the MacBook R2D2 instead of the MacBook Pro.

  • yes this sums of the problem.. well done!

  • This is absolutely perfect. Exactly the behavior of my new Macbook Pro, down to the click + pause + beep sound.

    Brilliant.

    And Shameful.

  • LOL! Exactly what I get!!!
