  • cool im trying to learn sign language but its really hard

  • Keep it up! yu gettin better and better!

  • i like it

  • ook, she is sweet and very good, shame you do not like her.

  • i am sorry , i knw you worked hard on this, you got all the WORDS but you did not get the feel of the song, you signed more english than ASL. check out allybabe watch her signing, it will help yo get the jist. but you get koodoo;s for keeping up and getting all the words even if you had to finger spell them.

  • AWWW for my VAlentine on Valentine's Day. That was sweet!

  • Whether the translation is literal or conceptual.... I liked the way that your signing includes your facial expressions as well as your hands moving to the to the rhythm and intonation changes in the song. Very admirable... thank you for that!

  • You know what. Deaf people sign differently. Not all Deaf people look for the exact same thing, but painting a picture is what they are looking for Pictures. No one is born an interpreter, and its takes a lifetime to master it! keep up the good work. I think you did great. One suggestion. When you sign a sign, you want a distraction reduced setting, no noise in the background.

  • RocketMichael, lets see some of your new work! You had a great start, lets see how far you've come. :)

  • @teresak7778 sure Id love to... I've been kinda putting it off, but I will :)

  • There is something to be said for conceptual accuracy. The way you signed the song did not relate to the actual meaning of the song. Remember, ASL is not a direct translation, rather it is language that paints a picture and conveys concepts, not words. Good Luck!

  • @teresak7778 this was done over two years ago

  • @teresak7778 meaning of the song? I don't think many deaf people are looking for the real "meaning" of any song, that's a hearing enjoyment. I view this as a pastime not as an interpreting gig involving life/death or guilty/no contest situation demanding it to be semantically accurate. Better yet, since you're the expert, how about u post a video response with ur interpretation of this song. Well, IDK if u have the necessary skills for it but maybe I'll understand ur point then Let us see u

  • you are so cute! haha i would love to sign how you do, i only know the alphabet :(

  • Hi RocketMichael,

Please don't think my explanation to sunsets4231 is a criticism of your signing ability. I think you are very gifted in this area. Yes, you don't sign like "the others" but that's ok; neither do I. Everyone has to find their own style, and your style can constantly change as you learn more signs and grammar. I look forward to seeing new signed songs from you.

  • lol xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Hi, looks like you really have a passion for this song and for learning ASL. However, you chose to find one sign to match every English word in the song. If you want your signed songs to be effective in ASL, you should think about what concepts/meanings the song is portraying, and find an equivalent interpretation in ASL. If a Deaf person watched this video it would make no sense because you are using conceptually inaccurate signs in English word order. Good luck continuing your study of ASL.

  • Yah, it's one of my favorites and I signed this over a year ago.

  • Hey Michael, I just stumbled on to this video by accident. I am a "mature" (old) terp & usually focus on gospel - contemp. music. But, I must say, u did an excellent job on this song. It's pretty much signed Eng. but your facial expressions & body movmt is tremendous! It's so refreshing to see a young man with beautiful hands want to become a terp. Check out some of Mark MItchum's videos if you need some inspiration. I have learned so much from this man. Once again, excellent job.

  • I have a question...what is the difference between signing ASL and ENGLISH aren't they the same thing? im confused haha

  • In answer to your question: ASL is a sign "language" & signed English is a system to teach D/deaf people how to read and write in English. Someone has thought up a sign for just about each and every Eng. word. In ASL concepts are signed instead of each & every word. The line "you drive me crazy" actually means "you cause me to become crazy" and not you drive (as in a car) me crazy. Does it make more sense now? If u still don't understand email me again.

  • OOO that does make more sense thankyou very much

  • Yup

and my ASL is so much better by now. lol

I need to put out more videos to show people where I am! This video was over a year ago

  • It's a little bit embarrassing, my grammar, but that will always improve. I just love signing music, it's great for me. I enjoy it a lot.

  • My favorite song of all time...hands down!

  • lol niiiice

  • meme uh Deaf lady and i hope you become a great interpreter someday =]

  • Yeah I suck... I just realized I was going through your vids the wrong way... so I am seeing the oldest ones first... Disregard my stupidity! LOL!

However... you still look like Hal Sparks! ;)

    <3

  • WOW!!! RIT is the school I DREAMED of going to... Instead I stuck close to home and got a SLS (sign lang studies) degree from Madonna... I'm now super jealous of you!

Two little pointers, 1) for the word 'baby' as an endearment, the sign for 'sweethearts' usually works better... 2) perhaps a little more work on your fingerspelling... get the SHAPE of the word not each individual letter and you'll be golden! (PS - If you would prefer I don't give you pointers, no prob, just tell me and I'll stop)

  • i made this video a year ago!! ;)

  • I am also an ASL student, however, this video is done more in the style of signed english. For example, drive me crazy is not drive like a car, a better translation would be you make me crazy or you make me become crazy. Also, use the sign for sweetheart instead of baby, you aren't talking to an infant. Make sense?

  • good job.

Yes I know this already. I made this vid awhile ago.

  • Honey, you are the hope and the dream of our generation. If flawlessness is next to Godliness you're an angel. Love your video's and your character. And the Ina-isims are beyond funny. Enjoy your vids much! Bill in San Diego

  • Hey my name is Amanda I'm 21 from MA I just wanted to let you know I took ASL111 this summer and I found it so interesting and that I LOVE the two videos you sing. Compared to the other ones I've found on youtube I like yours the best. I'm just wondering how many years of sign you took to be able to do it so well?

I've been signing over 2 years.

that's a great compliment you like mine the best... ur sweet.

    M

  • not to shabby, but a few things, the word baby, actually mean boyfreind/girlfreind so I'd sign sweetheart, also blue is just one hand with a shaken B. hope that helps other then that, really good, by the way yourwelcome for subsribing, so where are you? k ttyl bye Nea

  • Hey...

Yah I know. I didn't practice this one, just did it!

I am in Rochester, New York... My school is Rochester Institute of Technology.

    I am from Wisconsin

  • I just wanted to give you a helpful pointer. Try to go for more concepts. instead of signing "make and fingerspelling up" try to think of what Steven Tyler really meant...and sign that.

another example...instead of "Drive" like a car you could use the sign, force, inspire or simply the "go mad" sign which is looks like an index dropping out of from a 5 hand.

check my vids for help of clarifying.

  • Cool... yah thanks

  • I thought I was the only nerd who signed songs to the mirror

  • Nopeeee... not at all...

But really in my case, I sign songs anywhere, anytime, no matter where I am.

In fact, really it's not nerdy.. I find it so much fun... like double fun to sing and sign a song at the same time. It always adds more edge to self expression. =)

  • OMG I LOVE THIS, it not everyday we see a man who interest in sign language U ROCK!

  • =)

check my favorites... I recently favorited this guy who is signing Aerosmith's "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing"

  • Thanks Gwen!!!!!!

  • nah, I got it anyway.

  • Nice job. I used to be RIT student from 1998 to 2001. Wonder if you can send me this video without a link so I could add it into myspace.

  • thanks... ummmm you go to the video information and there will be a thing a slot that says embed and copy the the html code... you just paste that code into wherever, and the video will automatically pop up.

    thank you =)

  • ok thank so much. I am wondering do you use voice?

My hearing friend made a music. he said to me "I wish you can hear it. He did not interpreting because he knew little sign language, like he make his own sign.

  • No i'm not voicing in this video.

  • damn. that's allright

  • wondering if u have myspace? I have a music that my friend made and want to know if u can interpreting for that?you don't have to do this. :)

  • I gotta admit, kid...that took balls. Not many people would be willing to interpret a song and make it go national (maybe even world-wide). Keep signing.

  • Thanks Michael =)

I will keep signing! check out my Don't Speak video... it's better than this one, I think ;D
