in the manga it is never really confirmed whether haruka is a boy or a girl, though we can tell by the sailor suit. she originally appeared male for 5 books before she was shown as a girl, she even wore a tuxedo kamen outfit over her sailor suit. and michiru says that she is both a man and a woman (meaning characteristics)

in the manga it is never really confirmed whether haruka is a boy or a girl, though we can tell by the sailor suit. she originally appeared male for 5 books before she was shown as a girl, she even wore a tuxedo kamen outfit over her sailor suit. and michiru says that she is both a man and a woman (meaning characteristics)

to me. I never remember adults (or children) making any complaints either.

You said queer was used for gay men and gay is a blanket term but it's kinda the other way around. Queer is used as a blanket term for LGBT individuals because not everyone who falls under LGBT is actually gay (as in homosexual). What's REALLY funny about that pathetic mess of a "dub" changing Haruka and Michiru to "cousins" was that they actually made them an incestuous pair because they left in most of the closeness they had that no cousins would ever have unless they were the only ones the other had all their lives due to some tragedy or something. Basically, aside from all the added babble about boys and oggling Mamoru, they kept them both gay and made the relationship even more taboo.

You introduce a concept to them and explain it thoroughly, and depending on how smart the individual kid is, they may or may not get it. And it's true, censoring the world and blocking reality from kids is wrong, all it does is make it that much more difficult for them to handle it when they get tossed into it when they're older. Teach them from and early age and they'll be far better off.
