  • LOVE this movie.. i would be watching it on vhs but i lost the tape :( so thanks for posting!

  • HA! omg that camila chick looks like a unicorn

  • Don bluth you badass

even though this is one of youre least popular films... still a badass

  • Yo i 'm sooo qlad you uploaded this , brinqs back old memories . , I still have this on tape .

  • @KazzyBabby same its a shame i dont have a VCR anyomore xD

  • this was my childhood in a nutshell

  • My little pony is better

  • @6580006247 I like both this movie and MLP friend ship is magic.

  • @AStrawberrySlush

    Me too.

  • Bartok is some kind of Woody Allen. Except bat.

  • This is my childhood. ^u^

  • Is that...Sideshow Bob? The Bear, I mean.

  • funny thing is they pronounce babayaga incorrectly |D

they say bah-bah-yah-gah when the corrrect way to say it is bah-bah-yigah

  • so bartok was a conman? lol

  • childhood movie fuck ya bitches 12 years old i watched this video confusing right?

  • actually i dont think this movie is a prequil nor a sequil its just a largely unrelated spin off with the only relations being the russian setting and Bartok. so in a way this move and Anastaisia are separate entities

  • @TheMutantlizard This film is NOT the prequal to Anastasia. The events in this film are supposed to detail Bartok's life prior to meeting Rasputin (so stated one of the producers of the film), despite the fact that this film was released after Anastasia.

  • i used to watch this over and over as a kid!!!

  • @333hihello444 hahaha me too! i'm glad i'm the only one!

  • Really and truely, I would have no problem with this movie if it weren't intended to be a prequal to Anastasia. It has a nice story, beautiful animation, and good songs but it's time period is extremely confused (Anastasia took place in the early 1900's while this movie looks like it took place in the 1600's) and it doesn't give a precursor to any events in Anastasia like a prequal should. My suggestion is just to pretend the two movies are seperate entities and that way you can enjoy them both.

  • @GAvillain One of the producers stated about the film "... the events in the film take place before those of its predecessor [Anastasia], chronicling Bartok's adventures before he became Rasputin's henchman. (despite the fact that it was released AFTER Anastasia, it's supposed to chronicle Bartok's past life) so technically these two films are rather unrelated to one another since they both depict two seperate periods of Bartok's life that aren't referenced in either film unlike actual prequals

  • *squeal of joy*

  • Something abotu Minilla reminds me of Izma from The Emperor's Grove. Sisters maybe?

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE! xD I remember watching it as a kid :P

  • i don't think this they should had made this but i will find out now

  • then this movie takes place 300 years in the first generation of the romanovs before their tragedy happened in the early 20th centary.

  • did she just mentioned the name romanov at 5:37?

  • I haven't watched this movie since the IHOP commercial of bartok. and I've spent 12 years trying to figure out if the anastasia spin off was a sequel or a prequel? and 12 years later I figured it is a prequel since it takes place in medieval russia. at least thats how I looked at the world's concept and besides, it was the best direct to video-movie ever!

  • I watched this as a little girl and I just recently found it on DVD since they dont play VCR's anymore a im still watching it in 2011

  • Bartok is so CUTEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • Bartok The Magnificent was produced and is still owned by Fox Video they have full rights and I domt

  • that is baloo on crack

  • whats the hurry hes not going anywhere

    WRONG! =P

  • lol I still remember the words to the Baba Yaga song in the beginning, here I am at 1:30 in the morning shouting the song along with the video XD

  • Is it weird that I consider bartok a past life of Frank Grimes from the Simpsons ?

  • Sometimes I just rewatch this movie because the animation is so SMOOTH.

  • @Rhaxma Honestly, the plot was more entertaining than Anastasia for me. I always cry with Baba Yaga. The first time I saw this movie was my first year in college, just last year. This movie is timeless.

  • I love this movie, even though the last time I watched it was 8 years ago. I like watching movies that we had when we're kids and you watch it when you're older and some stuff just seem so wrong(X

  • This is where my love for bats originated :3

  • is the bear sideshow bob?!

  • @chloesimes Yep, it's Kelsey Grammer. :)

  • I'm already loving this XD and his bear sidekick, god I love his accent and his expressions (so slick he could be a villain himself lol)

  • "Will you give the prince back his ring?" Geez, the writers could have gone to the effort and called him the rightful title. You know, a 'tsarevitch'?

  • @TomatoSoupful I guess, but how do you pronounce that? I'm a stickler for things being properly done/said/true in a movie, but would kids now days (at least U.S. kids) know that word "tsarevitch" was the same as a prince?

  • @TomatoSoupful also he might not be russian decent, seems more like shakespear, so that might not be the title where he's from

  • Was this actually any good? Or is this not the best place to ask that?

  • god this is awful

Anastasia was offensive enough, but at least that had in the dark of the night

  • I remember seeing a sing-along video of this a longtime ago...

  • i always wondered who the lady was, and i still do.

  • haha i love bartok i can watch this vid 100 times and never be bored! x'D

  • It's funny how Bartok is played by Hank Azaria.

  • OMG!!!!!!!!! I HAVENT SEEN THIS FOR YEARS!!!!! and i find out its made by Don Bluth who ALSO made Land before time another one of my favourite childhood movies ******HOLYSHITHISISEPICFACE******

  • It's yzma!!!! When she was young!!! Before she met emperor Kuzko! Oh wait.... calculates time period and era this took place..... I meant HER DAUGHTER!!!!

  • ahaha her shirt with the pointy bra XD werid

  • this was one of my old time favorites. its a old movie, but sure is entertaining

  • @hellokit768 Old? Not really. It's a 21st century film. If you want old, watch Bluth's other good films from the 80s

  • At 6:17 I like how it's playing "The New Ludmilla" on a clarinet in the background.

And, since this is a prequel, no doubt the kid's failure to make people respect the crown is what caused the royal family to be exiled in Anastasia.

  • Honestly, I sort of would have liked more ambiguity out of this film. It is one of those weird situations where the villain actually sort of has a point at the start.

You shouldn't give family heirlooms as a tip to a street performer. You SHOULD respect your crown. The kid is just comming off as a brat but I just KNOW I am supposed to be going "Hey the kid is not such a bad guy! lets root for him".

Their attempts to make me hate the villain is too heavy handed.

  • @Nionivek really.. i didnt hear em saying it was a family heirloom :S and such rings are scarrd around to commoners all over the world nowadays.. so much for royalty? :P was prolly just a way to greatly encourage performers to amuse the people.. i mean they didnt have movies or videogames xD

  • @TheOneRebornElyrize Well given that they basically call it, though not in the exact words, the "Family ring" it is quite obvious that it is at least "royal" though likely a family heirloom (especially since it features a giant ruby).

The thing is that while encouraging performers is all well and good... but this is the equivilant of renting out the white house because some guy sings good. There are just things you keep for your nation rather then give away.

  • @Nionivek ..the white house is a resident.. that was only a ring. >.> uncompareable ..

  • @TheOneRebornElyrize They are both symbols of the country/royalty and probably worth around the same in monetary value.

It isn't "Only a ring", look at the size! It is quite obviously a "National Treasure" especially for the time period. Being you know, a giant ruby. It was also likely passed down through generations.

  • @Nionivek well compared to the lil bad then yea its big. though i dont think the developers actually was thinking about anything of this.. since its for children they probably had to make it obvious it was of great value.. :P

  • its Anastasia and Dimitri kid awesome

  • this kid,i mean the king really looks like anastasia, same hair color, same face's shape, even their smiles looks alike!!!!!!!!maybe there was another romanof family member who escape?!!!!!!!!:-)

  • This and Anastasia were some of my childhood FAVES :)

  • Oh my god I've not watched this in years!

  • Baba yaga! baba yaga !baba yaga!

  • @mjandcbreezyfan14 The Witch of the Iron Forest! Her evil is next to none!

  • Wait, a low-budget spin-off that the creator put ACTUAL EFFORT into?!!

  • At least it has better animation than 80% of other animated spin offs/sequals.

  • édes gyermekkor :)

  • terrible audio

  • @BlackRosePetals18 Yep Kelsey Grammar.

  • I've got the full movie, 1 part on my channel.

It's the full movie, so you don't need to keep on having to click part 1, part 2, ect.

  • she has very pointy boobs O.o

  • I loved this movie when I was younger! But, to my surprise, the beginning never scared me. I suppose I was into creepy things. ;D

  • Tbh, its amazing how much of this movie I remember from a child :o

  • Awww memories..

  • @mellowlittlechild she's madonna

  • Is it just me or does Ivan look like Dimitri and Anastasia's kid (if they should have one)?

  • @omgitschrisxoxo He almost looks like a younger version of Dimitri, in fact. I find it kinda cheap. :P

  • hank azaria who also plays cheif wiggum, otto, moe, Apu, comic book guy, carl, lou, professor frink, dr. nick, from the simpsons, bartok form here and Anastasia, The Blue Raja in mystery men and many other roles

  • (comment unrelated to this film)

OK... this is where I get mad about... if Fox allowed this film's to be presented on Youtube, why isn't Anastasia allowed? That's... nuts. I don't hate "Bartok the Magnificent", it's a cute family film with good characters and songs... but it's a spin-off to a film that made Don Bluth famous again. WHY, FOX, WHY? Can we please, please upload Anastasia, or at least, have you upload it yourself? YOU'RE TEARING ME APART, COPYRIGHTS!

  • @FilmFTW1

    Unsurprisingly, it's financial-related.

  • @1aundulxaldin Obviously, but Bartok made less money than Anastasia. There should be a rule: any film that didn't make a lot of money shouldn't be shown on Youtube, while the very popular and money making films should be allowed. That way, more money would go to the under-appreciated films. It's not fair, but it should be this way.

  • 2:03 IT' S OVER NINETOUSAAAAAAANNDDDD!!!!!!

  • Ivan is adorable. <3

And he reminds me of Dimitri.

  • Hey I remeber this movie I kinda forget but know I what this. I still love this movie.

  • First sequal what was directed by Don Bluth. Too bad he didn't direct ADGTH 2.

  • @GoldenRufi87gear2 thats why the first ones better.

  • Why did they make this instead of Anastasia 2 =(? He'd scored big at the box office with Anastasia coming in with 86 millions in profit! Sequel please!

  • Oh I LOVED this film SOOOOO much when I was small!!! Wow, this brings back memories, thanks so much for uploading it! :D

  • sideshow bob, teehee

  • Why is there Romanovs here 2 was this before Anya?

  • @TheBubbleBathMonster It was hundreds of years before. Two or three. But it's also in a slightly different universe, I take it. Since there is a huge evil forest and all. And dragons.

  • @InfernapesFlame ... then it's not even a spin-off. It's fanfiction. o.o By the original creator, which is just... weird.

  • He knew his kung-fu! :D

  • i would punch that purple dressed twig should get punched in the face.... just my opinion...

  • @turpalibragimov Sorry. If I had known I was arguing with a fourth grader, I would have spoken in smaller words.

  • @turpalibragimov Look. This movie took place like.. 300 years before Anastasia did. Note how the environment looks nothing the same, the city is completely different, and none of the others are even around. Sorry but you're very stupid on the subject. Just stop.

  • @turpalibragimov Yup. Wikipedia doesn't say anything about it. Nice try though <3

  • @turpalibragimov No. Because even Rasputin, who KNOWS because he has the powers, stated Anastasia was the last one. Nice try, though.

  • Hank Azaria is great as Bartok

  • Bartok is cute...Gimme 10 bucks i want him!

  • @turpalibragimov Me 2 and im also a fan of the anastasia movie and i luv dis movie.

  • Baba jaga :DDD

  • Baba jaga :DDD

  • The young princes's voice is hey arnold's

  • Sweet nostalgia...

  • The prince sounds like he's voiced by Jake T. Austin... but he'd have been way too young back then, right?

  • @Cloudleaf13 Prince Ivan is voiced by Phillip Van Dyke.

  • I have a constant grin while watching this. It reminds me so much of my childhood.

  • this...is the best movie EVER.

It got horrible awful reviews when it came out (I believe it was straight to VHS) but its THAT GOOD.

    Thank you for posting.

  • my childhood :)

  • so... the prince is anastasias dad?

  • @moviegurl16 No. Nicholas is the father Anastasia

  • @moviegurl16 no. her dad was nicolus

  • god i LOVED this movie when i was little and i STILL DO!! X3

  • @Julez08002 Yeah he really does! at first I though it WAS Dimitri. Then I thought, Dimitri's not even royalty!

  • is the little bat from Anastasia??? i think he is

  • @17purplequeen fuck no!

  • @17purplequeen oh yes he is. :)

  • The prince looks a lot like Anastasia

  • omg! i miss this movie so much! i was looking for it ever since i lost my vhs copy!

thank you so much for this :D

  • omg im so happy this is on here, my childhood<3

  • hes sooo cute

  • gotta love russian folklore

  • the prince is meant to ber Prince Ivan Alekseevich Gagarin

  • It would help if the ad for bartok actually told you where he's appearing.

  • when i was small, i watched this all the time!

  • god, if i had a nickel for every time i passed by this at wall-mart...

  • I watched this on a video when i was five... I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!

  • I was a small boy when I watched this. I used to dream about Bartok when I was a boy, in the dream, I was 9 or 10 years old and Bartok was my best friend, he was always making me laugh with the silly noises and funny faces, the jokes he would tell and he would tickle me a lot. He was always a good friend to me, he was like a friend of mine who loved kids and I was that child he loved to spoil and make happy all the time. Such good memories of my childhood, welcome back childhood, I missed you so

  • wait hold up is ludmilla like the prince's foster mom or something i mean like she has to be something she is with the prince at all times

  • How could a good-natured bat like that ever become Rasputin's sidekick?

  • @Scoutpower1 i think he got raped as a child ..... but im just guessing

  • @Scoutpower1 Animated sequels are rarely on-target with their continuity.

  • @Scoutpower1 easy 3 meals a day a warm place to live heck i would be rasputin's sidekick for that kind of deal tell rasputin dies then i would be hideing for the rest of my life

  • @Scoutpower1 threatened to life maybe

  • Omg brings back some good memories when i was 5 i loved this movie so much i think after it i want to watch fox and the hound =)

  • It looks like Bartok is no ordinary white bat because it looks like he possesses some magical mystical powers and abilities when he does those incredible and amazing things to entertain the commoners of Moscow, Russia. Don't you think?

  • I bought this movie along with "Anastasia" as they both came together.

  • i love Bartok ^-^ <3 x

  • Yeah, right as if the Romanovs really gave a damn about the common people. They starved most of the people, never industrialized and ran millions more out of their country because they were Jewish or Muslim!

  • bartok i such a con man. lol. but you got to love him

  • bartok i such a con man. lol. nut you got to love him

  • I think in some ways this little film is better than Anastasia - anyway the story feels more coherent.

In that sense, it's better than a lot of Bluth's films.

  • Interesting Fact: Two voice actors in this movie are also voice actors in the Simpsons.

  • @Needleskaine is one of them hank azaria as bartok\?

  • @Needleskaine hmmmmm who?

  • @Needleskaine Is Bartok Apu?

  • @Ntreik96 No, Bartok's not Apu (lol), but the guy who does Apu does Bartok (or Hank Azaria).

  • @FilmFTW1 Sorry, I meant that the voices are the same. Anyway, I KNEW IT!! THANK YOU, COME AGAIN! :D

  • is it me or does the prince look like he could be Anastasias and Dimitries son?

  • @jackassworldleader yes it does!!!! I noticed that too!!!!!!!

  • @MKDSzebra3 right?ive like always thought that lol

  • @jackassworldleader He does, but this film was before Anastasia, so if anything, Prince Ivan would more likely be Anastasia's father or grandfather!

  • @jayhayes2007 but her fathers name isnt Ivan and i highly doubt a bat would live long enough for him to be her grandfather

  • omg i havnt seen this movie in ages this was my fav movie wen i was little

  • huh an american supported film that is about Russians, thats a first

  • Thanks for the upload~

  • oops! it's Babayaga...BAAAABAYAAGGAA!

  • HAMAYAGA! lol, so funny when the baby says it :) he said: "Papayga?" lol

  • I loved this spin-off

  • Can someone uploed this in German?

  • ...O..M..G..i read this book called DREAMING ANASTASIA, it has the story of anastasia and baba yaga, i THOUGHT SHE WAS MAKING IT UP!....well,i guess thas kinda my fault too....XD

  • OMG!!!! Is the bear Frasier!!!!!?????!!!!!

  • @SheDemon219 Yep, and Sideshow Bob.

  • I saw the movie and its aweosme!!!!! Anastasia is better but this one is cool too!

both r Untuchibillion cool! but anastasia is is Fantasticllion Untuchibillion cool!

  • This is actually one Disney movie sequel that I enjoyed almost as much as the original.

  • @pkstarstorm1up

    Not disney

  • @pkstarstorm1up it's a prequel not a sequel.

  • Not to be a nuisance or anything, but seriously? the bear looks like a chimp.

  • I LOVEEEE this movieee. (: This is my childhoood movie and it brings back memories. <3
