"Artists" just dont sing/harmonize like this anymore. Nor do they have half the talent. This world needs to end in order for good music to reach the promise land lol.
My Dad played this record in the 50's and 60's when I was a kid, and I still remember him singing all the words and loving Marty's voice. Thanks for all who post these great walks back in our memories.
What a great song, and sung by a true artist-likes what he's doing and cares about his audience enjoying it as much as he does. What a loss when we lost Marty but at least those of us who are old enough remember when we had him, and great music like this.
Had the pleasure of seeing this Legend at wembley arena in 1981 loved his music then and still do,passed this on to my own children who are now adults & Marty music lovers.
There's Marty always trying to make his singers laugh...and in this clip just the opposite happend...Funny stuff! Incase you live on Mars and missed it, it's at 0:47 seconds in the video. Great Stuff! from one of the greatest country artists of all time.
P.S.- It was Marty who first heard the plane crash that sadly took the life of silky voiced Jim Reeves.
I get Misty whenever I hear this great man.....Big Iron I listen too when I'm feeling wheezy with asthma..Some how it's a little easier Thanks Mate...Jimbo Australia
Actually, Mr. Hawkshaw Hawkins Of W. Va. Was The First To Record Patanio. I Loved 'Hankus', But "The Hawk Of W. Va." Out Shines "Mr. Snow' On This 1. JMO.Thanks. P.S. Just Happened To Be At The Ryman, The Sat. Night, "Hawk" Debuted This Lovely Song. 'The Hawk' Was Quiet A Horseman Himself"""
Does anyone know of a song called "Patanio" supposedly by Marty Robbins? It's about a soldier on his horse on his way to deliver a message. I can't seem to find the song anywhere for my Dad. Please respond to:paulaluvstravel@yahoo.com
I'm only 14 and ever since i heard Marty Robbin's song "Ballad of The Alamo," I always loved hid mmusic. Greatest country music singer that ever lived, and while pretty much no one at my school has even heard of him, let alone listened to his music they just immediately say they hate it. Oh well they're idiots. This music is a millionfold better than any music from today whether it's country or rock or whatever it is. They just don't make them like this anymore. It's so sad. RIP Marty Robbins.
He has such a beautiful voice and I love his lyrics he has wonderful stories to tell you can picture it in your mind his stories. He's actually quite good looking too. He is good live=)
Marty was the best. I agree with 1973slimshady1973; he is definitely on my rather long "must-meet" list when I get to heaven. I love watching these 3 together. They always look like they are tickled and are fighting back laughter.
I made it my life's work to collect all of Marty's music ... sometime last year I finially finished my collection ... I am very proud to say that I now own at least 1 copy (legally purchased) of everything Marty ever recorded ... I value that collection highly.
Marty was one of the greats of all time. I met him after the NASCAR race at Ontario (CA) in '71. He started 22nd and finished 7th. Hell of a driver and one of the nicest folks you could ever meet. His live shows were hilarious, because he had a great sense of humor and would always interact with the audience. RIP Marty. You'll be missed forever.
What an absolute Joy to see the Best Country Singer / No sorry ,The Best all round singer as he was then, Thank You so much Tarqin45 We Will remain in your debt.
Marty was one of the best!!! A forgotten fact about Marty was he was also a Winston Cup Nascar driver in the 70's. Richard Petty called him one of the best.
so glad its not just me. worshipped marty for 30 years, since as a kid I tried for the fastest draw against my father (RIP)..i won.... to big iron..less cool as you got older and went to school but f@ck them, I was always bill traxton. robbins, haggard, cash, parsons, harris, david allan coe, jimmy c.newman, doug kershaw, steve earle, towns van zandtz (shite speller), jimmy buffett etc...and check out show of hands and calexico.......
I actually think that he was the greatest that ever lived. No other Country singer or Pop singer could match him for his sheer versatility. Much as I like Elvis, Crosby or Sinatra, none of these ever wrote a song yet Marty wrote most of his own material.
Add the great voice and the way he used it to the mix and he's untouchable in my eyes (and ears).
I quite agree with you. I would consider him one of the all time great American vocalists and not just simply a Country singer. There was no kind of music he couldn't tackle and he could write the songs for any genre he chose. To me, he has never received the true recognition his talent deserved.
Great western song of Marty and his lifetime compadres Don and Bobby.I love this music but most of all I love this music of Marty Robbins and his gunslingers.Thank you Tarquin and thank you Marty for sharing your talent with us[your fans].Rest in peace.

They were two of the greatest Nashville Sound singers and though contemporaries they didn't get along which was quite sad.

Thank you very nice posting.
I like Marty's CowBoy song very much. too,
I'm remembered the movie"Perfect the World" of Clint Eastwood & Kevin Cosnner.
It is learing that Marty' song "Don't Worry" and Perry Como song used well.
I think Marty and Clint were good relation(nice freind),also ab'v song about deferring to The King of Balldeers "Marty Robbins".
I glad if felling your comment.
Thank you very much again!!!for Tarquin45.
