You know that Hyundai already has a 3.9L, 5.9L and 10L diesel right. The 3.9 has has max 200 HP/550lb-ft, 5.9= 300 HP/870lb-ft, 10=400HP/1380lb-ft. And this Accent probably has one of the smallest diesels Hyundai has.
i cant believe people have the cheek to say my merc sound horrible in comparison to todays diesel engines like this really. The mercedes has straight six 3.0 diesel power unit. Pulls like a train WITHOUT a TURBOCHARGER or any fancy wizardry stuff going on either. The Mercedes w124 diesels were among the fastest in their class years back and sure beat the hell out of any crap today
Spot on! Our goverment can even wipe their own asses, so know cars, engines, and fuels is way out of the question. You'd thing they would figure it out since every critical vehicle/machine has a diesel engine. IE Semi trucks, construction ept., commerce ships, etc..
I love the US, HATE the goverment. Can we get more diesels??? I have a diesel truck and love it, but would like diesel car options also(more options).
HELL YA, just because the big rigs arent effecent because they are 12 liter engines, but a 2.0 in a car would get great fuel economy, I wonder if toyota would come out with a diesel hybrid
The diesels in semi are effiecient, relatively speaking. They are big engines that require a large fuel supply and ALWAYS have an extreme load on the engine. A comprable gas engine would have shit power and get less the a gallon a mile most likely. Now I would NEVER drive a gas hybrid or only electric car(our battery tech is poor), but a Diesel elec. hyrbrid I would be open too. If its good for 100 ton mining trucks its good enough for me! Plus diesels can run on a mix of diesel and biofuels.
They can if they are made and used correctly. The options are virtually limitless. biodiesel, CNG, Propane, jet fuel(for a short period), etc, etc. Can be burned in a diesel engine. The ways bioD can be created for example are also limitless. Algae grown right creates biodiesel and jet fuel very efficiently. Certain trees and plants produce great amount of oil that can be turnerd in biodiesel. Organic waster (ex. cow dung) can be collected and concentrated into methan gas to be run in diesels.
wow jet fuel in an engine, The government will not let a large organic fuel use, the oil companys will go out of business and the mid east will be pissed because they rely on the U.S.
Yep jet fuel in a diesel. Now you shouldnt run it in a stock engine for very long as it is very volitale fuel. Depends on how strong the engine is also. The U.S. runs jet fuel in their diesels for simpicity, but those engine are made to handle that. I wouldnt run it in your Mercedes, not that getting JP-4, JP-8, etc. is easy :)
Actually, that engine is manufactured by V. M. Motori... and Italian diesel engine manufacturer. They make all of Hyundai's diesels, as well as the diesel in the Jeep Liberty.

Why dont they have cars with diesel in the US? probbly because of our shitty government that doesnt see the reliability and effecentness of a diesel

exactly like a diesel train engine are very effecent, and i heard that bio fuels make a diesel run even better

1.5L + turbine + commonrail = 110HP not bad for a stock diesel engine

2008pablitox 3 years ago
oh ok, i was going by top gears review on the 3 cylinder version of the diesel, but knowing that show they probably have the facts all wrong
ieatfords4breakfast 3 years ago
There is also a three cylinder diesel, and it's truly awful.

Wrong, that engine is manufactured and designed by Hyundai.
2008pablitox 2 years ago
You are wrong, it is designed by V.M. Motori. Of course not all Hyundai diesels are made there but only some.
vistauploader 2 years ago
Also, after 2005 model the VM Motori diesel was replaced by a 1.5L I4 that Hyundai made instead of the 1.5L I3 that VMM made

Isn't that actually a Daewoo engine?
