What kind of settings do you have for the wheel? I got a wheel and I've been using it, but it's surprisingly harder than a gamepad. I can't seem to nail the braking...do you floor it when you brake, or lightly tap it? I have all aids off..

@LordTyrannus u need some time to adjust to it and lots of practice. also u need a good car setup. for FFB i use Leo FFB plugin, it works great. but not all wheels have the same configuration. i set up mine to 380° rotation from end to end, full FFB effects and 101% strength. about braking, no i almost never floor it, i usually 'trail brake' using a bit of throttle too. you need some time to learn the technique and also a good setup. try 90% pressure or less and more balance to the rear brakes

@LordTyrannus i brake hard instantly, not flooring the pedal and fradually lift, but keep some brake deep into the corner too. at the same time i don't lift off the throttle completely, i keep giving a little bit throttle together with the brake to control the car in the middle of the corner. it is not a very easy technique, you need to have the "feeling" in order to get it right and of course you need many laps of practice as always. you can't go fast right away, give it time!

What are your rfactor settings? i.e.. brake and throttle sensitivity, traction control, abs, ect...

I generally use low abs, medium traction control, no stability, and 50% brake/throttle sensitivity.

@LordTyrannus sensitivity i use the defaults which is i think 50% at everything. as for driving aids i don't use any except auto clutch (unfortunately my G25 has only 2 buttons on the wheel, or else i would have a clutch button there)

@puju1234 i had a team.. it was Deletraz BMB (Backmarker Brigade) see: backmarkerbrigade(dot)com. but everyone dropped out and so did the team manager, so i was left alone with a friend from the beginning. we had limited time to test and had no clue about the car setup and the mod's secrets, while most of the others were members of crowded, well organized teams with top drivers and engineers from the WC league. we were rookies and of course not "top" drivers, so without support we were helpless.

@puju1234 i raced the whole season because i paid for it! that's right, you have to pay to race there. (or get paid if you're a star). i also did a few GPs in the previous season that was free. the reason that you have to pay is that there are money prizes for the winners and there are expenses for what they offer, such as live broadcasts of the races and more. i might return there some time, but only if a decent team hires me and if i have lots of time to dedicate. it needs serious commitment..

@konstantinos777 Yea I know that you need to pay for driving in that league. I was in MayhemF1 team back in 2004. Im impressed about your driving skills, not in this video though. But for example that hotlap in India GP was excellent driving, so I think you would have good chances to get into decent team. But as you said, you need to work hard on it.

@puju1234 thanks! i am now doing better times in India that in the video, my race is next Sunday. well, i've been racing in other leagues and i was twice "constructor" champion in 2010, so maybe this means i can deliver some good points to my team. i have some podium finishes, but no wins.. we will see what happens, it depends on many things where i am going to race and in which team. right now i am focused in tyka league, then we will have winter league with non f1 cars. and then maybe rf2!

@Bawdog4 yes it is, if you are looking for a full-blown simulation. if you are looking for a game, then probably the F1 series by codemasters, or other game titles are suitable for you, but rFactor is hardcore! you may also wait for a few months for the new version (named rFactor2) which is going to be much better.

if you want a real racing simulation on PC try iRacing. it's way better than this crap with people warping all over and horrible collision detection.. I mean I saw cars literally going inside of each other like at least 5 times in this video.. like a 0:23 lol that is just bad..

@gibsongaming69 i know iRacing, but i think it's somewhat expensive to me and doesn't offer that much. what you see in this video is not indicative of what goes on in a proper league and a proper server. anyone can host a server with any kind of connection and random people join. some of them have a lot of lag, that's why you see those things, it's inevitable. watch some of my other videos to see some more 'proper' racing.

@Zukamen you need to have the car (also called "series" or "mod") and the particular track that the server is running in order to get in and play. you can download all mods and tracks for free at rfactorcentral. note which mod and which track you want to play, find them and install them and then you are ready to go. servers with a "lock" icon, have a password. installing a mod is easy, most times u need to extract a rar file in the rfactor main folder and the tracks in rfactor\gamedata\locations

@gibsongaming69 And iRacing doesn't do the same thing? Please. iRacing netcode is far worse and was outdated back in like 2001 when N4 came out. What you seen here isn't the netcode, genius. It's poor collision modeling by this mod.

When a car slams a wall hard in iRacing their car damn near warps all the way through the wall. When a car flips, they start blinking in and out. When watching on board footage of your opponents, their steering wheel doesn't move. I can go on and on.

this was not a league race of course, but one of those online 10 lap races on repeat without password that attract a lot of people. lots of different kinds of drivers there, others using game pads or keyboards, others using steering wheels, some pretty bad or beginners, but some pretty good and fast too.

@Nikmuk thank you! i don't remember the times, but they were pretty quick. this was a very easy mod and i was doing even 3 seconds faster than normal. of course i set the fastest lap of this race. also while this was an aids enabled server (traction control, stability control, abs, auto gears), i was not using any of them. i never do :)
