btw this scenario is completely impossible. russia never used AK47s. only for about 5 years. then they changed to AKMs and after that they changed to AK74Ms and now they use AK74M + AK10x series. u would never find an AK47 in russia cos they use much newer weapons now. and if some shithead tells you "the m16 is more accurate than the kalash" tell them that the AK47 (FORTYSEVEN) is a bit less accurate than the m16 but the AK74 (SEVENTYFOUR) is more accurate than the m16

Most people like the AK because they've never used one. People will tell you all sorts of stuff about how it is better than the Armalite M16. The truth behind its success is its price tag. The Soviets produced the shit out of them, and when the USSR fell in 1991 tons of CHEAP assault rifles flooded the market. Before 1991 the Talaban and Al Qita used m16s because it was what the US had Given them, but now that they were a paramilitary group they needed cheap weapons. AKs fit the bill.

Most of world's AKs are cheap produced knock-offs and pirated copies. Soviets did not supplied world with ten of millions AK! it's some countries (like China, Romania) started mass production of their own AK copies and spread it everywhere around the world. Most of these "foreign unlicensed AK" are poor produced so it's affects rifle reliability and accuracy.

Why terrorist leaders don't use m16 over AK? I think it's because they don't trust m16 rifle in hard conditions.

it's happened when I was in the isaf units in Afghan, all soldiers in my squad put away their G3C rifles and switch for AK 47 or 101.

You can't fit AK bullet with M16 but AK could done without any trouble. I have to say that AK 47 is the world most powerful rifle ever, and it never jams or overheat!

Once more, here's the point. M16 & AR-15 are superior in parts and accuracy. Power and Versatility go to the AK. If you sit at home, and clean your AR or M16 and baby it, yea, it's not gonna jam. But AK's can be BURIED and still work.

It really depends on the situation. The AK is good in all conditions but it's the no1 choice in an all hell breaks loose situation where you constantly have to keep situational awareness and have no time for cleaning or much else. It is exceptional for jungle/forest warfare proven in vietnam. It's so good it has had no significant design changes in 60 years. Even the ak-74 is the same platform in a different caliber.

I have also shot the AR, and despite what people say, I didn't notice any significant difference in recoil or muzzle rise. Albiet the accuracy is better, but my AK will do just fine with iron sights out to 100 yards, and a scope will take it to 300 yards.

I would rather have a weapon that goes BOOM when I pull the trigger than be high & dry when I need it most.

it wasnt a jam....what happens is a spent cartaridge get caught it in the charging slide, all they have to do is pull on the charging handle and chamber a new round.

an-94 is NOT AK-based rifle. An-94 is much more complicated than any AK.

saying it doesn't jam is more of a overstatement. the point was that compared to the M-16 (which jams quite frequently. and requires a good ammount of cleaning every so often) it is a great weapon. the great part about the ak-47 is that it requires cleaning not too often, and it doesn't jam all that often, it can still jam, but not as often as most firearms, even compared to the ones used today.

Dude, we use modification of AK-47 in finnish army, and I can tell honestly; You can throw it to the swamp for a decade, and then you come back, pick it up (if you find it) and shoot. No need to even clean it. Its heavy and less accurate than 5.56mm guns, but its much penetrable and..well. A legend.

The ak47 is tough and its power can cause lots of damage. However, it is NOT a precision weapon! It has 10x the recoil of the M16 and its accuracy is pathetic. The is ak47 is also very heavy and does jam frequently. (trust me on that). Did you notice that this video was biased and only talked about popularity and ruggedness.
