If you had never heard of them, if they didn't have a famous name, you'd think this was utter shit and cover your ears. If you took two kids who have never played instruments or sang before in their lives and told them to get up on stage, they'd do better than this. Even if you're big fans of them you have to admit this. And if he had throat surgery, why didn't he play a more rocking song and drown out the vocals with his guitar?

I love this song, the best opening sequence ( Napoleon Dynamite.) This an excellent rendition, and it gives a nostalgic touch to Conan's last show, very different than it's original version, which is what make this such an excellent performance.

I wonder who chose this song the stripes or Conan. who ever did im sure conan's audience has heard this song on Napoleon Dynamite.

Well, this was an OK performance. I don't think they had to re-arrange it and all that, it was just weird. I think Jack was too emotional to play, he looked like he was going to burst into tears for the whole thing. Towards the end was better, like starting around 2:50.

It's not good because it's shitty, it's good because it's creative, albeit simple. When you can sell albums like Jack White you can call him a "delinquent speech impedimented gay boy from frisco". By the way, if you want to hear less folksy music from him check out the Raconteurs: No "shittiness" at all. You don't have to listen to the White Stripes or watch Conan, so stop pissing and moaning.

This is great...well, not this performance exactly, but the White Stripes are awesome. If you want 'shittiness' then listen to any new death metal or scream metal. Now that is just shit in a bottle.

Thank god Conan is at least coming back before my summer break starts. I wouldn't be able to make it through the summer w/out watching Conan. He's my favorite late night host, and it really was sad watching this last episode.

thanks for posting this....it's crazy that this band is a friend of conan's....plus conan got crazy emotional at the end of this show. with good reason, out of all the late night shows his is the one i've watched since '94. i was 13. so i guess i'm somewhat of a fan.
