Girls can play volleyball in sweatpants as well; they don't have to wear tight shorts, but do, because they want to show their butts to a predominately male audience. Ask a volleyball player why she wears tight shorts.

I cheered for 17 years ranging from elite all stars to college to semi professional and this is not cheer leading on any level. The choreography is good, but I definitely do not think it's appropriate for a high school cheer team. Though I'm sure many of the girls on the team arent sluts (or come even close to being one) it's routines like that, whether they be for fun or completely serious, give cheerleaders the rep of being hoes.
I've been a cheerleader since I was 5, I am now 13. I have never seen ANY school or gym allow their cheerleaders to dance like that. I'm sorry to say this but, the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders don't even dance that way. They may have skimpy outfits but DO NOT DANCE LIKE THAT!

I see nothing wrong with this dance routine. It definitely gets the attention of the students and the ones who really have a problem with it are just judgmental and self conscious.

Those girls have talent and they practiced that routine for quite sometime to get it right. I'm sure it shook things up a bit. Sometimes you have to 'rattle the cage' to get folks to wake up and to become more involved.

I really think a high school pep rally is the wrong place for this style of dance. Did the administration even say anything to the squad after? As Captain of my school's dance team I understand that when you put on that uniform, you represent the school and its integrity. This did not represent integrity. I understand this may be the "style" nowadays, but additionally this dance choreography-wise does not display the potential talent of the girls on your squad. Do you even stunt?

The reason this video has gotten such examination (for lack of a better term) is because it is rare for any school to allow their cheerleaders to perform moves like this. In fact, I have rarely even seen college dance teams do a routine such as this. I do think people are taking it too seriously (especially with the "whore" and "stripper" comments), but it is an unusual thing to see.
im a cheerleader at my high school and i thought this dance was really slutty. My coach showed this to our squad and as we watched it we all had our mouths open in disbelief that these cheerleaders would be giving the rest of us bad reputations. At one of our games a boy came up to us and asked us if we were going to dance like the cheerleaders on youtube. we were apauled. thank you for giving people another reason to think that all cheerleaders are sluts

You should see some of the routines that the all-black cheerleading squads do. This is pretty tame compared to that. Good moves anyway and talented cheerers and dancers. I give it an "A" and i teach high school.

This dance isn't remotely hip hop at all. It's cheerleaders trying to dance. It repeats after just a few 8 counts... I'd fire your choreographer if you all ever want to truly compete in hip hop dance competitions.

I see nothing wrong with this dance routine. It definitely gets the attention of the students and the ones who really have a problem with it are just judgmental and self conscious.
You'd be better off looking in the mirror and practicing your moves.
Those girls have talent and they practiced that routine for quite sometime to get it right. I'm sure it shook things up a bit. Sometimes you have to 'rattle the cage' to get folks to wake up and to become more involved.

I really think a high school pep rally is the wrong place for this style of dance. Did the administration even say anything to the squad after? As Captain of my school's dance team I understand that when you put on that uniform, you represent the school and its integrity. This did not represent integrity. I understand this may be the "style" nowadays, but additionally this dance choreography-wise does not display the potential talent of the girls on your squad. Do you even stunt?

This was a very good routine, but it was slutty. People need to stop hating, because ALOT of schools cheerleaders dance this way. Its not really their decison, they just have to follow the steps and choreo. But either way, this was pretty good.

It allows a girl to express those feelings in a socially-acceptable way. No girl wants to try out at the local strip club and risk ruining her reputation when she can do virtually the same thing on a cheerleading squad under the guise of "school spirit." I cant blame the teen girls in this video. You cant. You have to place the blame on the school, the trainer. My son loves this song and he came across this video so I just wanted to put my two cents in. With all the rape, kidnapping, teachers having relaionships with their students, you wonder why this school would allow teen girls in tiny skirts to shake their behinds in front of the entire school. makes you wonder why. The girls are talented, but it could have been presented better.

@cod4Skillz94 I agree with most of your sentiments except for the part about most schools dancing like this. The reason this video has gotten such examination (for lack of a better term) is because it is rare for any school to allow their cheerleaders to perform moves like this. In fact, I have rarely even seen college dance teams do a routine such as this. I do think people are taking it too seriously (especially with the "whore" and "stripper" comments), but it is an unusual thing to see.

im a cheerleader at my high school and i thought this dance was really slutty. My coach showed this to our squad and as we watched it we all had our mouths open in disbelief that these cheerleaders would be giving the rest of us bad reputations. At one of our games a boy came up to us and asked us if we were going to dance like the cheerleaders on youtube. we were apauled. thank you for giving people another reason to think that all cheerleaders are sluts

it's ust like any other cheerleading dance! i like it. i would let my team do it. it's only some of the girls who are doing it that make it look bad. they are trying to hard to look hot. but the other half of the girls are actually doing it like a cheerleader would.

Just because the students liked it... Is bending over with gapped legs in a skirt numerous times (for the entire audience to see your spanks) appropriate? Yes it may have been fun, but there are other ways to dance and have fun. Maybe I could tolerate it more if they had on pants, but this is an oversexed performance. Lighten up hcovswfdc!! I thought that the show was designed for the student body - not the faculty and staff - and it sounded from the cheers that the students really liked it! Also, I didn't mean to imply anything negative about squads from mainly black schools, its just that in my experience they put more "dance" features into their cheer routines. Its just a matter of style, that's all!

@wmattstevenson there are other dance moves than stripper dance such as maybe actually doing a cheerleading dance. a cheer dance can be amazing and fun without being inappropriate. this school was lucky not to have their team taken away and if one of the state board over athletics would have been there im sure it would have been. this is why cheerleaders have a bad name. show some class ladies, please.

You should see some of the routines that the all-black cheerleading squads do. This is pretty tame compared to that. Good moves anyway and talented cheerers and dancers. I give it an "A" and i teach high school.

The girls show in other parts of the dance that they are capable of doing more, other than what was displayed. The coach as the adult should not have let the girls perform this, bottom line. Comparing it to "all-black squads", its just as bad! As an educator yourself, its sad that you would make that comment.

This dance isn't remotely hip hop at all. It's cheerleaders trying to dance. It repeats after just a few 8 counts... I'd fire your choreographer if you all ever want to truly compete in hip hop dance competitions.

At our school we can't do anything like this at all! And people that are saying "were not sluts" well let's see. ... When you dance like this your going to assume it.
