  • i got the treadplate yesterday for my rm100 and it didn't sound anything near what you had. idk what is different but i saw your videos and the videos randallamplifiers has up and i'm not getting that type of sound. the distortion i get out of it is horrible. do i need to do anything to the tubes?

  • great demo i would love to see a demo of the mic eliminator

  • Thanks bro! If I had it here it would be cool, but I moved to LA and I don't have a mic eliminator here for now! If in future I will, for sure I will make a demo for it ;)

  • does this module as well as the Ultra XL handle detuning well...i use a seven string and, i also play down 2 whole steps with a drop so my lowest note is A#.

    what do u think??

  • Hi sorry if I'm answering only now but I was in Mexico till 2 hours ago! Yes, definitely I think that the UltraXL is the one made thinking of the 7th strings guitars so It's supposed to be the best one for your low tuned 7 strings.

  • what are your setting for that tone, i really like the lead tone

  • I usually use the guitar and amp, in the solo I use a T-Rex Replica delay.

The settings I was using are GAIN 8, all the EQ at 10 and the MASTER of the module at less than 5.

The presence of the head is at 7 and the density at 4.

Let me know if you need more informations ;)

    All the best

  • well i play progressive thrash metal mixed with bles and clean jazz breaks, so when it comes to a rhythm channel i look for a megadeth kind of crunch, but the defenition and clarity of dream theater, so i'm guessing the ultra would work a lot better...

but my mind is made up on the Treadplate for the lead tone.

  • i really like the John Petrucci solo sound that comes out of this module, do you think it's a must for a Drema Theater fan such as myself???

and for those really really chunky rhythms, what is the difference between the ultra and the XL????

  • I think exactly the same of you! With this module you can have John Petrucci's sound without use any compressors or booster. I'm using only guitar and amp! the only effect I use in this video is a T-Rex Delay.

The Ultra XL is more compressed than the Ultra. You can use the Ultra XL to have the same sound of Dimebag Darrell and it sounds very good for rithm and solos too. The Ultra is more warm, but with the XL you can have an awesome sound perfect for fast riffs too without loose definition...

  • I suggest the Tread Plate to have Petrucci's Sound(Lead and rithm)

The ULTRA XL for Dimebag's sound(Rithm and lead)

The ULTRA if you are a death metal rithm guitar player that want to be destructive with infinite basses but with more definition than the one you can have with a Mesa

  • nice phrase (don´t abuse of harmonics), which are the top 3 modules that you like the most?

  • Hi,thank you! It's hard to answer this question! I play in many different styles and often I change! The ones I use more are: BLACKFACE JTM/TWEED(crunch) TOP BOOST(U2/Queen covers,I'll upload new videos about this asap) ULTRALEAD/XTC/SL+(Lead) ULTRA XL to play every type of metal riffs and Dimebag's solo sound. About the TREADPLATE I can say that this module has the sound of the Dual Rectifier in rithm but is better in solos because has the Mark IV solo sound. Is the best to play like Petrucci;)
