  • They took me to Love Land!

  • pure Ron Burgundy.

  • Young guys from the Sojourner Truth project in Murder City. Pimpish yet somehow innocent. They were one-hit wonders. The Floaters became The Sinkers after this song..... Hopefully, they made enough $ to get outta Detroit.

  • @mobydoug Hey, how dare u speak ill of Detroit! I've been here 44 years, haven't got killed, reared 8 children, who haven't killed anyone. We have had the most successful artists, most black home owners, supplied the world with automobiles, had the largest black middle class, etc. Speak what u know and not what channel 2, Fox News tells u. U don't know Detroit like i know Detroit. (cont'd).

  • @MissJackieM I always loved how these groups would dance on stage to their music, used to enthrall me. I always wanted to dance like that. This would be a great form of "line dancing" like Country & Western fans have theirs. Any dance instructors reading this =)

I love this song, always have. " Charles " is my favorite, sounds a lot like Phillip Baily.

  • 1977 love land @LVHS u know what I mean.

Everytime I hear this, I think of Coal from Martin. I think he was trying to hit on Pam (or another girl) when he sang the lines of Larry ("Caaan-sa! & mah name is Laary!"). Good times, good times.

  • past girlfriend and I were in my bedroom at night going at it. We had the radio on some random station, just in case things got noisy. (You know how it is.) Anyway things were going really hot and heavy, then out of no where this came on. The song suddenly sounded like softcore porn music. We both busted up laughing so hard that tears were coming out of our eyes. Needless to say the mood was gone

  • I have used these pick up lines on many beautiful ladies, and each time I only had magnificent success. It seems that the minute I got to my name after giving my astrological sign, I was already halfway into the woman's boudoir. And when I told her to take my hand and come with me to loveland, it was ON! Big time, and the next thing I knew we were on our way to the Eastside motel like Warren G and Nate Dogg!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! AS LITTLE GIRL, YOU COULDN'T TELL ME THEY WEREN'T TALKING TO ME!!!!!! I'M LOOKING FOR THE TENDED VERSION.

  • There is an extended version to this song - Larry's portion is cut short on this version for some reason, but on the original LP (thats what we called vinyl records back then) he sings a couple more lines than then rest of the group.

  • Yessssssssssssssss! One of the baddest joints on the planet! Love it! "Cancer... and my name is Larry..." That's my boy right there! He is gettin' it in this song! lol! I miss the days of suits and smooth choreography.

  • Accordin' to their bio, there was a 5th member, Jonathan Murray. Why wasn't he on 'Float on'? Billboard's #72 song of '77. Hit #1 soul, #2 pop in Billboard. It must've been played on every pop station, except WLS-AM. Took a look at their surveys online. Didn't go very high on it. God bless!
