For those of you who want to see it on Google Earth. I found a site but not sure if it's the same as in this video. Just north of Hope on route 4 is Hope Municipal Airport. It's loaded with them.
Yes, it is at roughly exit 30 (I think it was highway 278), about 5 mi north of the exit. As I recall there are "three" Hope exits and I believe it is the middle exit.
I think that many satellite photos are "old" and if they are older than fall 2005 then they would not show the trailers. :-)
Nothing would prevent it. But, they should be put to good use now, after the devestation in Kansas. Let's see how the gov't handles this one, and hope that those people who need help will get it.
Are you kidding? The people in Kansas are mostly (if not all) white. There is no way FEMA is going to rush in there and help because of the way they dragged their feet in New Orleans. How would it look? It would give Kanye West something else to bitch about.
No I really wasn't kidding. As for West, he's a bigot, along with a handful of others (black and white) who do everything they can to stir up trouble anytime they get the opportunity. I have no tolerance for bigots, no matter what color they are. We've got enough problems, without having to put up with them.
The FEMA trailers have been sitting at our air port since the month after Katrina hit. By this time more than 75% of the trailers were suppose to be on the Gulf Coast - not even 15% have been taken. Now, the trailers are being auctioned off. The Southeast part of Arkansas was deeply impacted by tornados less than a month ago, leaving the 60% of the residents without homes. And FEMA is not sending any trailers to the people of SE Arkansas, how about that?
It's just off of Interstate 30 in Hope on highyway 278 heading toward Nashville AR. Can't miss it either and it's close to the interstate. Look for the airport signs.
The trailers have been used along the Gulf Coast and will be either refurbished or sold at the GSA's auction website. However, the mobile homes (there are about 8,400 of them left at last count I heard) at the site have NOT been used due to the bungling of FEMA, as LSUgirlhauler doesn't seem to find space to mention in that critique. Not one of those mobile homes sitting there now has been used, though a few of the original bunch were sent out for various uses.
First of all, i dont know when you filmed this video if it was in the past YEAR these trailers HAVE BEEN USED and REFURBISHED and now they are waiting here to be used again. It's so nice to see "educated" people talking about subjects that they know NOTHING about. Good job!
I resent LSUGirlHauler's rude comments. Refute with PROOF that the trailers were used or that they can be used in flood plains next time ...I will gladly change my posting. I did all the research I could find (google... I haven't found one article backing you up). Cowardly attacks not required, simple facts would have sufficed.

Considering some of the Arkansas tornado footage I've seen on YouTube, this might be a good place to keep these, they sure would come in handy.

What's to prevent a tornado from wiping out all the FEMA trailers?

Does anyone have an address, or directions for how to get to the FEMA trailers and mobile homes to check them out?
