A fantastic movie, based on a true story, therefore I give my respect to Katsumoto (in the real rebellion the samurai was named Saigo) and Nathan Algren (loosely based on Jules Brunet, a French officer in Japan who turned against the Japanese army and fought on samurai side) who fought in the Satsuma Rebellion in 1877 and for being fearless and true honourable warriors, living by the samurai code.

The song does not appear anywhere in the actual Last Samurai film - it doesn't need it to be honest; the score Hans Zimmer wrote for it is beautiful enough.

I am in a weird possition, though I love Samurai ways and Bushido, I am Christian, I was raised Christian my whole life. In Bushido, it is honor to do seppuku, but my christian faith is make me feel this is not good to do.I understand die from sword and die in battle is a "Good die" But seppuku to me is not good,so 47 samurais is inspire me cause its my culture but also I dont like that ending =(

Perhaps because the song is "Requiem For A Dream" from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. The Lord of the Rings has a British/New Zealand feel to it, while The Last Samurai is set in Japan. The Last Samurai soundtrack or flat Japanese music would have been better for this vid, I think. Still, this person did a great job overall. :)

Actually Requiem for Dream came out with the fil of the same name.

Requiem for a Tower, was the remake that was used specificallt for the LotR:TT trailer. They are pretty much the same, but Requiem for a Tower is more epic.
