Looking forward to seeing the interview. I have no questions for him. I only hope that he has been able to enjoy life since his return, and that he is receiving the care and respect he has earned.
sorry just saw this vid! I want you to thank him for his American service he done us proud! I also would like you to ask him if it really was as bad as the books say, like was it scary for him? I am going to enroll in the marines next year and i love to talk to people about how they felt.
First of all thank him for his service. How did his service during the war affect the rest of his life, good bad or other? Both of my grandfathers served in WWII one had great stories and served in the Navy and the other served in the Marines would not talk about it.
If he served in the Pacific theater, I would like to know about the bomber wings.
Especially that flew off Saipan, the Marianna Islands.
My Dad served in the Pacific on Saipan, Marianna islands.
He was in the Army Air Corps, but he died of cancer when I was a teenager and I didn't get to ask a lot of questions about his time there. Any info would be nice.
And please shake his hand and tell him Thank you, for me.
Actually... better idea... explain EDC to him and then ask him if he can recall and share what his WWII "EDC" was. That would be a great vid for youtube :)
Typical stuff: Where were you? Did you carry a pistol with you? If so where/how did you get it? Was it ever actually used or would it have been useful over your rifle to save your life? What rifle did you train with in boot camp and what did you carry while in theater? Any knives?
Unusual stuff: What kind of delays did you see with letters/packages from home? If you received packages, what were they sending you? Did u send stuff back? What was generally in your pockets while "in theater"?

Did he have any special skills like hunting, camping, etc. before the war that helped him during the war, or was he "new" to everything?

What person in his group of friends or family was he able to relate his experience to the most and what did they talk about?
liabatud67 11 months ago
Ask him,
Is there anything that he needs that you might be able to help out with or someone in your viewing group?
