@MikeTuinstra - If you look deeper Mike you'll see why the "industry" dropped all rock and metal bands.....I for one and thankful to have enjoyed the GREAT 8O'S and that there are still bands from Europe {especially from Germany!} that keep the dream alive! Great tune Sabbatio, thanks for posting!!!!!
@LucifersLapdog Well, naturally it's about fraud. What else? LOL! It's a business that blocks the art of music in any genre, and replaces it with manufactured crap.
I first heard this on WRXL-102.1 The Home Of Rock 'n' Roll (Richmond, Virginia) when they used to have a show that came on Sunday evenings at 6PM to 8PM called, "Power Cuts". Remember that? This premiered on "Power Cuts" back in the mid to late 80s. Back when there was REAL music on the radio stations.
Great song! First time seeing the video. I remember WAAAAY back when they did this live on "Arsenio Hall" (that's what I was looking for) and they killed it. As far as the beginning solo, the radio version only had the last flowing riff before the other instruments kicked in so it makes sense the video should have it too. Too bad the audio track doesn't line up with the video and WTF is up with the visuals?
How can anyone not like Giant ? They had some of the most Amazing Music ever. This is Coming from the 90's when the Music scene was changing for the Worst not to the Better.
I have the tapes for thses guys brilliant guitar work, vocals, the lot I think these guys could have been bigge, had there been more drive & support by the label. I love this song but I love both albums. Where Is Dan Huff now? It brought back memories of
working in a company warehouse in the UK with the cassette radio playing this!!
I wonder if if Dan could be persuaded to do anothetr Giant album to please us who got into this group and i sure miss hearing stuff like this!!
Man, Last of the Runaways and Time to Burn will always be two of my favorite albums, period. Glad Dan Huff has had such success in Nashville but I really miss him as a rock player. He's one of my biggest influences as a player. As a singer, my God, he's one of the most underrated ever. Thanks for posting!
Dann Huff is everywhere. If you looked all over the musical industry, his touches are everywhere. This guy is more talented than alot of the musicians out there today. To bad he doesn't get his dues. Love the guy and his bro. They rock.

Giant may not wear makeup, but they still have the pretty boy 80s hair. Motley Crue DID wear makeup, to the point of looking like a bad KISS knock-off. Of course, KISS got their influence from Alice Cooper, and so on. BUt the point being, Vince Neil and Brett Micheals are two of the weakest supposed singers to ever make a million bucks! And I stand by my contention. If Neil or Micheals were not famous already, theyd have difficulty finding a singing gig with a local bar band.
@kkellybass So a cool, fashionable image is not your thing. It is mine. Hair looks a hell of a lot better styled than not taken care of. Has more appeal. You may consider yourself Alternative, it doesn't mean the world has to follow.
Alternative is limitation. Take Kurt Cobain, good singer? Most of their singers can't sing for shit, as opposed to what we have here. Point of Motley Crue is Metal excess, Poison Party Rock. Vince Neil is a great screamer and Bret Michaels a singer-songwriter.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Funny that you mention 'poser'. The original poser mentality was started and at its peak with the hair bands. Is there anything more 'poser' than a man who wears spandex, make up, and has prettier hair than Farrah Fawcett?? And is 2 chord guitar playing any worse than 3 chord hair band songs? Had Motley Crue formed today, they'd be lucky to get a dive bar gig with their limited musical and vocal talents.
@kkellybass Is there anything more disgusting as a man who's ugly self hasn't had a shower in a year? No sale.
Giant doesn't wear makeup. They have well styled long hair and fashionable clothes. Their sound quality of vocals and playing destroys everything Alternative. Motley Crue has a lot more value as well. Bands like them always have an independent following.
I tell you what is posing. Being an industry slave, jump at every move they tell you. Liking this music is forever. I rest my case.

Dont blame the media. People make their own choices. Face it. Its not the80s anymore. Tastes change. The spandex, big hair, and needlessly long, wanking guitar solos have thankfully been put away like stirrup pants, skinny ties, and Molly Ringwald. There was no lamer period of music than the hair band era. Elementary school level song writing, boring redundant 4/4 drum beats, one-note bass lines. Ugh. nothing but guitarist ego feeding.
@kkellybass In that case I'd like to see you defend The Black Eyed Peas and Hip Hop/Pop now. You may go with the flow but fact of the matter is that it ain't selling. This stuff did. It was Rock music at the height of its popularity. Rock went gone with Alternative. So far for people's choice.
And what about 2 chord guitar playing, cheap whining lyrics and stinking poser society outcasts - aka the simplistic boredom that is Alternative? Flannel, baggy pants, Soulja Boy? More respect please. =)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I dont think its an issue of the band being underrated. Its probably more that its no longer the 80s. They have the big hair, the posing, the 80s guitar, keys, and drum sound..All they need is some spandex and makeup, and they can call themselves Giant Stryper!

Agreed with the whole change of scene thing. But it wasn't Nirvana who stopped a good form of music of course. I'm not a fan of theirs, but their art is lyrical.
Thing is only the industry people are to blame. Nirvana is just a cover up. It's called mass media manipulation. They wanted to test different markets and so they did.
It's proven a big flop now because sales suffer and Rock, I tell you music as a whole has never been the same. Crap packed in promo just doesn't fly.
Yup, but guess what? I think the industry would want to get back to something that actually sells now. Substance = longevity = money in the bank. If they don't want to die out they're most definitely in need of some major changes.
The good music should come back. As long as the crap continues we simply move away to the past and new independent releases. Those companies who understand the market have our sale and shall survive. Those who don't will seize to exist.
@MikeTuinstra I have to disagree with you. Nirvana was the worst thing to happen to Rock. They're the reason why Rock went down the toilet and there are nothing but shitty bands out there playing shitty alternative music. The vast majority of music made after 1992 sucks unless it is made by bands that have been around since pre-1993. When's the last time you heard a guitar solo from any of these alternative bands.
@warrior12473 Sounds like my argument, because it happens to be exactly what I'm saying. 8) I'm not denying the impact of bands like Nirvana on the scene, it's been a bad influence on Rock music alright.
Thing is Nirvana were controlled by industry execs from the get. Popular Rock music would've continued had the natural progression taken place. But the RIAA started boycotting and marketing against it. They are responsible.
@MikeTuinstra Like your reasoning here. I had the good fortune in 1990 after a concert in Orange County, CA to tell these guys personally they had the best sound in the business. Dann Huff is a better singer than Lou Gramm and a better guitar player than Nei Schoen. KANSAS was my favorite band for 15 years until these guys. Their producer, Terry Thomas, is a talented guy-check out the '70s Enlish rock band CHARLIE.
@PATULEKE I guess it's just personal taste. I am attracted to the emotional quality here. I LOVE Lou Gramm, but Dann Huff is and always will be my favorite singer and guitar player. I was also influenced by a personal encounter I had with Dann in 1990. Humble, and yes he would probably agree with you! More musicians, producers, and record company execs should listen to GIANT and try to emulate them instead of dumbing down the listening public with all the crap they put out just for the buck.
@MikeTuinstra I absolutely agree with you sir. You hit the bulls eye with every point, and it would take an absolute idiot (or a record company executive) to argue with you!!!!!!!! Well said, Mike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@MikeTuinstra The record/music industry is as corrupt, greedy and controlling as any other big corporation in this country. They promote and push what they deem is popular and then exploit their artists until they are stale, toss them out, and look for the next lab rat. They care nothing about music quality, it is all a business and marketing. Too bad because the ones who suffer are the youth
An amazing band. They combine good lyrics, melody, musical ability and a hard edge. Why were they not huge? They are superior to most rock bands out there.
I agree, they were great. Although the single "I'll See You In My Dreams" did at least crack the U.S. Billboard Top 20 (landing at exactly #20), but I agree, they should have seen more success, considering their incredible sound.
A great/complete band, at least production wise. Huge vocals, catchy , well-produced tunes, great sounds, catchy songs, great riffs. Put all those sounds together with the right songs, what more can you say?
giant is just one of those bands you never tire of.... the more you listen the better it gets.... i wish they would come back, hit it big and show people what real rock is i would like this style to come back!!!
Actually, the ARE back...unfortunately without the great Dann Huff, but look them up on Wikipedia and you will see what they've been up to lately. Can we say NEW ALBUM RELEASE IN TWO MONTHS?? :)
Dann huff is really enthusiastic about music, gear and life in general even after all the years he's been in the music buisiness. Also he's a mo fo on guitar, plays many styles, sings great, and also produces hits for other artists ranging from megadeth to leann rimes. This guy is immensly talented.
I think they are appreciated among fans and so on, the biggest problem is that I have never heard of them - only few days ago did I come across their songs, and what a surprise - the guy is an incredible guitar player
Damn straight! I bought this oen when it was new on cassette tape.... WOW! Now I feel really old! LOL! Oh well, I have the music to comfort me anyway! LOL!
You're a lucky one! You must've had a very musical upbringing. The Hair rockers like your dad and uncle had a special extra sense missing from other rock genres. I don't know if there's a name for it. Ask your folks about Z-Rock. We all lived in a continuous party back then that was surreal. Nirvana didn't kill the party; the business changed away from music to commercial money in 1993. have faith. ;-) There's room for more to come.
I heard they changed their name several times and the singer was critisized about his voice by so many people, he took voice lessons. I like this group though and I think they should play their songs on the radio!
the only good part about this song is the guitar intro.

pplpssmeoffalot 1 year ago
@MikeTuinstra The record/music industry is as corrupt, greedy and controlling as any other big corporation in this country. They promote and push what they deem is popular and then exploit their artists until they are stale, toss them out, and look for the next lab rat. They care nothing about music quality, it is all a business and marketing. Too bad because the ones who suffer are the youth

An amazing band. They combine good lyrics, melody, musical ability and a hard edge. Why were they not huge? They are superior to most rock bands out there.
Ganjacelt 2 years ago 4
I agree, they were great. Although the single "I'll See You In My Dreams" did at least crack the U.S. Billboard Top 20 (landing at exactly #20), but I agree, they should have seen more success, considering their incredible sound.

I hate Nirvana and always will for what they did to this kind of rock

dconrad1987 2 years ago 2
A great/complete band, at least production wise. Huge vocals, catchy , well-produced tunes, great sounds, catchy songs, great riffs. Put all those sounds together with the right songs, what more can you say?

check bands like Crash Diet, WigWam, The Poodles, Scream Arena, Tara's Secret, Furyon.....the bands are out there and they are new..
Priestking1000 2 years ago
Tara's Secret are great but there was something about the whole late 80s early 90s sound of bands like Giant that these modern bands don't have......

algerian5 2 years ago 20
I think they are appreciated among fans and so on, the biggest problem is that I have never heard of them - only few days ago did I come across their songs, and what a surprise - the guy is an incredible guitar player
szymonwoj1 2 years ago
who cares about the labels??..is it good..yup..genres are simply of no consequence ..its either good mediocre or crap..
shadoww1000 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
It sounds way more like Hard Rock than like AOR.
Not the worst band, but to me, it isn't really AOR / Melodic Rock.
MrKnopf 2 years ago
It's definitly AOR IMO but with a hard edge. AOR music in general tends to be melodic and this is melodic.

Maybe part of the reason is, they have a bad video director. I notice all their videos suck. This is an ugly video that makes no real sense.

Monica1C3 3 years ago
I heard they changed their name several times and the singer was critisized about his voice by so many people, he took voice lessons. I like this group though and I think they should play their songs on the radio!
