@lakyjar Yes you're right. Pele just win world cup with the best team in that time. The football at that time is really damn slow and no quality. he only scores more than 1000 goals at santos, a really low class team. the ratio of the goal at brazil and europe is 1:3 so by average, pele only scores about 300 goals if he plays in europe. Pele also never win any awards in europe like ronaldo or zidane. How can he ask messi to score 1000 goals and see him.
Ok lets see. He played with a heavier ball, on terrible pitches, with less protection, scratch that, NO PROTECTION from the refs like players today who go to the ground at the slightest touch. Then add the fact of the advantages the modern player has in terms of sporting science, nutrition, and advanced training methods. Yet NO OTHER PLAYER IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL PAST OR PRESENT HAS DOMINATED THE SPORT LIKE PELE. I'm sorry but you can't change history and erase what Pele achieved
Pele is a hypocrit. He says 1966 was the most brutal WC ever just because he got injured and failed. He ist the most selfish footbal player in history.
I don't like that fag eusebio....he's too big headed The only reason why you played good was because that Portuguese side feared pele and knew that he would dominate that match..so they injured him
@m10eko As would Charlton, Best, Dennis Law, Rivelino, Garrincha, Carlos Alberto??? The fact is Pele dominated his era. Its stupid to try to put him into todays generation. If Pele played today he would have all the advantages of the modern players, so its a redundant debate that only unintelligent people get into. How about you put todays players into Pele's generation without the advantages of modern football, and the history of Pele's generation to learn from? Its stupid to even get into that
maradona is the best he was corageous and he played for his country and won a world cup all by himself aand made it to the fina on the next one. pele's first worldcup he got injured in his first match, second he was substitue so he played 2 matches, worldcup brazil had the greatest team in the world \u, heplayed in an amateur league in brazil and only played in 2 teams. maradona played in many different teams and made them win
@borni1999 So you mean he was the goalie and defender as well?? I love how you ignore the fact that Maradona DELIBERATELY CHEATED to win "a world cup all by himself" as you put it. These are his own words: "I WAS NEVER GONNA BEAT SHILTON IN THE AIR." He even admited cheating with performance enhacing drugs in the qualifiers for the 1994 world cup. He was a great player, but let's be honest, he got past England by cheating, so that world cup win has an asterix next to it.
@borni1999 Oh and that "amature" Brazil league produced 3 world cup winning teams out of 4 world cups, so what does that say about the European football? If the Brazilian leagues were amature why did Santos destroy the best teams of Europe? The truth is that was the golden age of Brazilian football. There were many great players who couldn't even get into the Brazilian national team.
@rifway22 Garrincha had more skills, but he did not have a carreer like Pele's. Best is the best player of Irelando, but not of the world. Eusebio was the best scorer of Portugal, but not a genius. Puskas is the one you mentioned that is closer to Pele, but he didi not won a World Cup. Di Stefano did not played a World Cup. Read Pele's numbers.
@andreyus08 im not ignorant like you who only read statistics. eusebio won a golden boot, pele never won it. if pele was born irish he'll never be famous, brazil will win those world cup even without pele. puskas won the golden ball in 54, he played a major part unlike pele who only play in the second round in 58, garrincha won the golden ball, and in 62 he didnt play at all but he got the winning medal, puskas only play one world cup. di stefano cant represent his country cuz of fifa regulation
@rifway22 But Pele was in the exact place, in football it is necessary to be lucky. Pele played only the second round in 1958, because he was returning from an injury and he was 17 years old. Feola believed he was too young. And I am not ignorant. I know more about football than you, including World Cup history. And to demonstrate your ignorance, Di Stefano could not be in 1962 World Cup, because of an injury. He had obtained the Spanish nationality and he traveled to Chile. Did you know that ?
@andreyus08 yes i know that, but his prime is in the 50's and he never was in the world cup at those times, and puskas participate only once in a world cup, imagine if he played in 3-4, he could at least win once and thats with hungary. pele is a rooney. brave, confidence, tenacity. world class player but not a legend. there were many factors outside football that makes him famous.
@rifway22 In 62 he didn't play at all??? In 62 he played in the first two games. He scored in the first games, and got injured early in the second game. In 58 he scored goal in the quater final, scored a hat trick in semi-finals and was man of the match, and scored two goals in the final and was man of the match. He was only 17 years old! He won the young player of the tournament. 12 years later at 29 he was still the best player in the world. He won the golden ball for the 1970 world cup.
@rifway22 Pele was having his best individual year in 1962, that's why it was such a dissapointment that he got injured so early in the world cup. Had he not been injured he most likely would have been the player of the tournament. You are really clutching at straws to try and take credit away from his accomplishments, but unfortunately you can't change history.
Pele was great but ronaldo is the best player ever. no one will be good as ronaldo. pele stayed in santos, ronaldo domintaed wc and europe. ronaldo had 3 knee injuries, pele 0. ronaldo played against nesta maldini deasilly costacurta puyol hierro. pele played against kindergarden defenders. pele was great, ronaldo is the best player ever.

Simple as that!

It wasn't easy, he is who made it look easy.
Pelé doesn't actually need any statistics. He was simply the most complete player ever. With a special highlight to his headers, Pelé is just 1,73m tall (5'8).
pele was exceptional no doubt but do you think hed be able to do what he did to defenders then to modern athletic defenders like vidic pepe etc.plus nowadays a guy like mesi is studied by defenders through videos they know every single thing about his movement etc.i still think pele isnt the great ever.to me messi maradona r9 ronaldinho zidane cruyff are all better
To say that he had no competition in his era shows that you are either
a) Ignorant of the history of the football. Or
b) In denial and clutching at straws for a reason to explain why he was so superior in a generation that produced many of the greatest players of alltime. A player that took the world by storm at the age of 17, and was at the pinnacle for his whole career. And produced his best on the biggest stage in two different eras (58 and 70).
@bolder2009 In 58 he played two good matches in a good brazilian team, in 62 Garrincha single handedly won the cup (almost like Maradona in 86), in 66, and Pele in his peak, brazil did not past the first round, although was a "bad" team (for brazil standards) and the tournament were very physical (but so was 62), in 70 he played with the BEST TEAM OF ALL TIMES.
Ok lets see. He played with a heavier ball, on terrible pitches, with less protection, scratch that, NO PROTECTION from the refs like players today who go to the ground at the slightest touch. Pele was not King at all. He was good and among the better soccer players ever, but there is no evidence he is among the top 25 of the world. There are at least 50 Italian, Dutch, English and Spanish players so much better than Pele. Heavily overrated and a bit of a liar. He never made 1000 goals, 714 goals in official matches. He added over 250 goals in his mind. He is an actor and too often too negative towards players like Cruijff, Van Basten, Di Stefano and Muller.
@Santangelo5 Are you going to say the same thing about Micheal Jordan in basketball? @JahGuideI4Iver Wow, you are one angry person. Blunt racism? Where did this come from? Is he black? I do not notice that, because I do not care about the colour of the skin. The man can have his crown because he deserves it, but there does the discussion end. No racism here at any time. Just plain old historical facts.
@JahGuideI4Iver Uhm sorry, i think santangelo is a little bit weird but where is racism here? I think some people should get some education about racism, this word sucks. Every kid uses it and doesnt know what it means? He didnt say he is a stupid Nigga okay, so where is the racism in his comment?

@HeshimaJameni No one has done that before and probably no one will achieve this in the future and so you're right about that fact. The question remains if that makes him the best soccerplayer ever. Remember how Real Madrid won like many consecutive European Cups in the 50's en 60's? Does that make Madrid the best team ever? I don't think so, there was no serious competition at that time. Pele had no competition at his glory days, but times have changed big time since.
@harrana2007 Garrincha, Tostao, Jairzinho, Rivelino were among the great Brazilian players who were not even members of Santos whom Pele led to 2 world titles! The Brazilian national team was not always the same between 1957 and 1970 but Pele was the only constant factor! He was their leader... the best among the best! The only one with 3 world cup titles. It took Brazil 24 years to win another WC without Pele! And Santos even longer to win the Brazilian title without Pele, thanks to Robinho!
Pele allways played with EXCELLENT teammates. He was a fantastic player, but not the best.
