I know this man, and he is wonderful. He was confused, and trying to rescue everyone. The charges against him are a perversion of justice. My heart goes out to his family.
If MClean County Independent sent you, perhaps you should have interviewed the officers involved. This business man who shot the video was simply showing the real world in this town. The real one...not the one made up in the heads of hypocrites and racists. Risk being a hated member of the community? What would that entail?? Run out of town on a rail, tarred and feathered? That would show how very "Godly" this place is, now wouldn't it?
I personally know this man also and am disgusted that a new business owner can come into town and have the right to videotape a random act that could of happened to anyone disgruntled. When I think of small town ND I think of kids riding bikes around town, people standing on sidewalks and visiting, rifles or shotguns in the back windows of pickup trucks, fishing poles in the box. I think of people genuinely concerned about their neighbors, willing to help and even protect their neighbors if need be. I am fairly confident the cowboy in this video would help you on the road or if you stopped by his ranch and needed some kind of emergency or humanitarian help.
The poster did it IN admiration of the local police departments. Hence the GO McLean County Sheriffs Dept at the end of the orig post! He is from California and agrees that this would have ended WAY different in his neck of the woods. KUDOS Officer Matties!! No one got hurt & all ended well for everyone but the poster!! I used to live in North Dakota..now I live in California..If somebody was carryin' guns around..to say nothing of a knife and GRENADES out here..well, outside of the sphere of reality called North Dakota in what we like to call the REAL WORLD...that guy would have been tasered...kicked to the ground and risk getting shot by cops...good job to the cops in this video..i think they were very professional
No one intended on humiliating this gentleman...the ENTIRE world posts news from their towns...from their cars, their porches but we can't because we "ain't from around here"?? WAS his name posted? His rantings, his problems? No mam, it wasn't. It was the name of a town and facts from the scene. It was never shared with any evil intentions, cruel wishes or hate. Some people weren't born here, some people have lived in states and townships that appreciate news, from the public, news...not gossip.

Honestly, I'm glad that it's on here. Rumors are going to make it sound a lot worse than it actually was. I didn't see two rifles nor did I see any grenades. Even if he wasn't in his right mind, he went to town to PROTECT his community from what he percieved to be a real threat. MOST people, if they believed that terrorists were intent on doing harm in the area, would hide.
